Dodie Smith, who was famous for writing the Disney classic 101 Dalmatians, spent her adult life living in the Essex village of Finchingfield.
As a result, she used to regularly visit Sudbury, which was half an hour away, to do her shopping.
Parts of Sudbury was used for the setting of the classic children's story, including the drinking fountain and horse trough by St Peter's Church.
It is mentioned as the place where Pongo and Perdita stop to have a drink while trying to track down the lost puppies.
The town is even named in the book, it reads: "Just before midnight they came to the market town of Sudbury. Pongo paused as they crossed the bridge over the River Stour."
Walt Disney visited Dodie at her home in Finchingfield called The Barretts.
It's rumoured the Grade II listed Georgian manor Greys Hall, in the nearby village of Sible Hedingham, was the inspiration for Cruella de Vil's home.
101 Dalmatians is honoured in The Talbot Trail - which is a series of 14 statues around Sudbury.
The trail depicts the town's history, other statues include the town gaol.
On Gaol Lane is the statue that was the gateway to Sudbury Court where prisoners were locked up to await trial.

There's also 'The Running Boy' which tells the story of James Bigmore, a boy who ran alongside a coach, all the way from Sudbury to Norwich in six hours.
Another is the fearsome Queen of the Iceni, Boudicea as well as the artist Thomas Gainsborough.
Sudbury is also home to the National Trust property The Children's Country House.
It re-opened after a big makeover in 2022 - with its property and gardens all aimed at entertaining kids
Unlike most National Trust properties, children are encouraged to go wild, run around and touch everything with no roped-off areas.
While features of the historic country home can still be enjoyed, the new wing includes everything from interactive displays to a dressing-up room.

'The buck stops with the studio!' Harvey Weinstein accusers argue amongst themselves after one victim of pervert Hollywood mogul wins $5.7 million payout whilst dozens of other women had to split $17 million in damages between them
Harvey Weinstein 's victims have spoken of their fury after another of his accusers got a $5.7 million payout, by far the largest for anyone. Zoe Brock said she was happy for British actress Julia Ormond but the deal 'pisses me off' because she was one of dozens of women who had to split $17 million in 2021. Ms Brock said that others may take aim at Disney, who Ms Ormond sued, because 'the buck stops' with the studio as it owned Weinstein's movie company Miramax until 2010. Kaja Sokola, who testified at Weinstein's retrial in New York earlier this year, warned the settlement could be a 'blueprint' for others to follow. This week exclusively revealed the stunning payout to Ms Ormond, 60, who rose to fame starring opposite Brad Pitt in Legends of the Fall. The out of court settlement came after she sued Miramax, Disney and her former agents Creative Artists Agency (CAA) claiming negligence for not protecting her from Weinstein even though they knew he could be dangerous. Ms Ormond claimed that Weinstein stripped naked in front of her at her Manhattan apartment in 1995 and forced her to perform oral sex on him. The settlement from Disney and Miramax does not include any admission of wrongdoing but it could open the door to dozens of similar cases. Ms Ormond (pictured) claimed that Weinstein stripped naked in front of her at her Manhattan apartment in 1995 and forced her to perform oral sex on him And it is a striking contrast to the $17 million settlement from 2021 for more than 40 women with Weinstein's bankrupt film company, The Weinstein Co. Speaking from her home in New Zealand, Ms Brock praised Ms Ormond as a 'queen' for getting such a deal for herself. Ms Brock, 51, a former model, has claimed that Weinstein took off his clothes and demanded a massage in a hotel room when she was 23, forcing her to hide in the bathroom. She said that Ms Ormond has 'done what I wanted to do'. Ms Brock said: 'My whole idea I went to the lawyers with was to go after Disney 'Everything was covered up, everything was'. Ms Brock said that the class action lawsuit, which led to the 2021 settlement, was the thing that 'undid us'. She said: 'The class action lawsuit was the worst thing that any of the Weinstein survivors could have gotten involved in. We were conned into it. It bit us on the a**. 'I was the last person who tried to hold out and not take that settlement and appeal 'The problem was….that I was broke, a single mom, totally trying to get my life back together. The amount it would cost was astronomical. I couldn't afford it'. The day Ms Brock took the deal, which she said was in the 'low, low six figures', she 'puked and cried'. She said: 'It was awful. I put that small amount in a trust for my kid and tried to move on. It pisses me off. 'I am so happy for Julia. Smart girl. Clever girl. What a woman. Go for it. F*** them where it hurts'. Ms Brock said that others may follow suit because 'Miramax was part of Disney, it was a clear step. Miramax did not exist without Disney. 'The buck stops at Disney'. Ms Sokola, 45, a former model, testified at Weinstein's retrial about two instances of sexual assault, one in 2002 when she was just 16 and a second one in 2006. Weinstein was convicted of first-degree criminal sexual act and third-degree rape in 2020 and sentenced to 23 years in prison, but the conviction was overturned on appeal in April 2024 and Weinstein is now being retried on the charges The jury acquitted Weinstein on the counts related to her testimony, however they found him guilty of sexual assault related to another accuser. A mistrial was declared over a rape allegation. Ms Sokola said she was 'really happy' for Ms Ormond. She said: 'What they did, especially the companies, the settlement she received should be a blueprint for all other races that involved other big companies that should be responsible for the people that work for them'. 'Do I think it's fair for the other women? Of course I don't. I wish all the other women got money to at least conceive they couldn't work. 'At the same time if I could give advice to anyone thinking about proceeding in that step, just reach out to the best lawyer you can'. Ms Sokola said that during early discussions with Weinstein's companies figures in excess of $100 million were touted for his victims, which are thought to run into the hundreds. Instead some women ended up with tens of thousands of dollars. Ms Sokola saidL 'I would say if someone feels they have a unique individual case, I'd suggest they go for it. 'This is such a gamble. You never know what will be the outcome'. Ms Brock's lawyer was Doug Wigdor, dubbed the 'no.1 MeToo lawyer in America': his other clients include Cassandra Ventura, who testified earlier this year at the trial of Sean 'Diddy' Combs. During the case it emerged that Ms Ventura had gotten a $20 million payout from Combs after suing him in 2023. She is also set to get another $10 million from a Los Angeles hotel where he subjected her to a brutal beating. Mr Wigdor has another client, former model Sara Ziff, who has also sued Disney for its failure to protect her from Weinstein: her case is ongoing. One hitch for potential litigants is that Ms Ormond's case was filed under the Adult Survivors Act, a 2022 law in New York that allowed a one year window to file civil cases that were normally past the statute of limitations. However other laws may provide a way for cases to be filed and similar legislation could be passed in the future again. Meredith Firetog, a partner at Mr Wigdor's law firm who worked on Ms Ormond's case, said that they were 'happy' with the settlement. She said: 'Harvey Weinstein didn't operate in a vacuum and it's important to hold those people and institutions accountable'. Elizabeth Fagan, the lawyer who brokered the 2021 settlement for Weinstein's victims, did not respond to requests for comment.

Gary Busey, 81, pleads guilty to groping woman at New Jersey horror movie convention
He now faces between one and five years of probation and fines STAR IN DOCK Gary Busey, 81, pleads guilty to groping woman at New Jersey horror movie convention OSCAR-nominated actor Gary Busey has pleaded guilty to a sex crime after allegedly groping a woman at a horror movie convention in New Jersey. The Lethal Weapon star, 81, admitted during a Zoom court hearing on Thursday that the incident was 'not an accidental touching'. One victim claimed Busey placed his face near her chest and allegedly asked 'where she got them' before reaching for her bra strap. Busey initially denying any wrongdoing — even telling paparazzi in Malibu that 'none of that happened' and the women 'made up a story'. But the actor has now pleaded guilty to one count of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact. Advertisement Under a plea deal, three other counts of criminal sexual contact and one count of attempted criminal sexual contact were dropped. The actor now faces between one and five years of probation and fines. He will also have a criminal record and must submit a DNA sample. His sentencing is scheduled for September 18 via Zoom. Advertisement Judge Gwendolyn Blue denied a motion from Busey's defense attorney, Blair Zwillman, who argued the case should be dismissed due to what he called a 'faulty investigation' and alleged failures by police to question certain witnesses. A police affidavit from 2022 claims that after detectives contacted Busey, he told them 'sometimes it is possible to accidentally touch someone in a specific body part'. Sex fiend who targeted boy, 8, in tent at Scots beauty spot was spotted fleeing scene by victim's horrified dad He also allegedly even asked authorities to apologise to two victims and persuade them not to press charges. In a statement at the time, Monster-Mania Convention said Busey was 'removed from the convention and instructed not to return' immediately after complaints were received. Advertisement 'The safety and well-being of all our attendees is of the utmost importance,' attorney Nikitas Moustakas said, adding that attendees were encouraged to file police reports. The guilty plea marks the latest controversy for the veteran actor. Just days after being charged in 2022, Busey was photographed in Malibu with his pants down on a public bench, his hand buried in his crotch. His spokesperson later claimed he may have needed to relieve himself, saying, 'Perhaps at his age, he realised he couldn't get to the bathroom in time.' Advertisement Busey, who rose to fame with his Oscar-nominated role in The Buddy Holly Story, has a history of troubling incidents. In 2011, a former Celebrity Apprentice employee accused him of sexual assault, telling the Daily Beast that he groped her and forced her hand onto his genitals. He also faced drug charges in 1995 after police reportedly found cocaine and marijuana at his Malibu home, and has been arrested in the past on suspicion of spousal abuse. The actor's son, Jake Busey, has previously said his father was never the same after a 1988 motorcycle crash that caused severe brain damage, claiming the injury left him 'more impulsive and prone to anger and delusions of grandeur.' Disney World begins demolition of beloved landmark
Disney World fans were left in 'tears' after shocking new photos revealed that the demolition of a beloved landmark has begun. The theme park is in the midst of transforming the Muppets Courtyard at Hollywood Studios into a brand new Monsters Inc.-themed land. Both the Muppet*Vision 3D ride and the Muppets-themed restaurant PizzeRizzo closed permanently on June 7 to make way for the brand new area, which will feature a suspended rollercoaster. Now, new images have been shared by popular theme park news outlet Blog Mickey that show a massive construction update. Disney has officially started knocking down the buildings in the area, and the snaps show the Studio 1 Company Store in Muppets Courtyard completely destroyed. The building that was once a booming gift shop selling all-things Muppets is now piles of soot and plaster as the entire store has been knocked down, with just a portion of one of the walls still standing. When Disney first announced its plans to get rid of the Muppets Courtyard it divided fans - some people were excited for the new stuff coming to Hollywood Studios, while others were heartbroken. And now, the new photos have sparked a slew of negative comments from devastated Muppets' fans. 'I cried when I saw that a few hours ago,' one user replied after the images were shared on X (formerly Twitter). 'Praying they kept some of the Muppets props but it doesn't look hopeful.' 'These pictures truly feel like an open casket or some [expletive] to me they're PAINFUL to look at,' someone else quipped. 'I thought the image they used to snapshot the source was AI generated. What the [expletive] do you mean this is the current state of MuppetVision 3D??!?!?!?' another horrified fan added. 'This hurts my heart to see… I used to work at this store and have so many wonderful memories,' read a fourth comment. A fifth said, 'Man this [expletive] is brutal to watch.' Others called it 'vile' and joked that there should have been a 'content warning' on the photos due to how upsetting they are. Some simply replied by sharing crying emojis or GIFs of people bawling. The new Monsters Inc. attraction will put riders 'right in the middle of the monster action.' The area will also have a new show featuring fan-favorite characters Mike and Sully, a 'Monsters playground,' multiple eateries - including a Japanese restaurant based on Harry Hausen's from the film - as well as two stores.
