The Righteous Gemstones Season 4: Danny McBride Explains Titular Family's Fate
McBride spoke on why the titular megachurch-running family got a happy ending in the Righteous Gemstones finale during an interview. He revealed that he considered giving the Gemstones some amount of 'comeuppance' for their actions throughout the series. 'There were always thoughts about, 'Does the church go down? Do they get arrested?'' he recalled, before explaining why he and his colleagues decided against it. (via Variety)
'Ultimately, for me, I don't know if I really want to see that,' McBride added. 'The design for me is, I want people to watch this again, and I want it to be something that ultimately feels fun,' he further stated.
In The Righteous Gemstones Season 4 Episode 9, 'That Man of God May Be Complete,' Corey Milsap shoots all three Gemstone siblings: Jesse, Judy, and Kelvin. However, they survive with the help of Dr. Watson, BJ's service monkey, and Corey is eventually killed. Kelvin and Keefe get married, with Eli officiating. Baby Billy is shown spending time with his family. Elijah's gold-plated bible from earlier in the season is placed on display at the headquarters of the Gemstone Ministries. As for Eli, he reads a letter left behind by Aimee-Leigh and is later visited by Lori on his yacht in Florida.
Co-writer and co-star Edi Patterson echoed McBride's sentiments, noting that one of the consistent themes of the show was that the Gemstones won regardless of whatever happened to them. 'Ultimately, the fun thing about the Gemstones is they win,' she pointed out, adding, 'Do what you f—— want to them. You cannot make them not win.'

Billy Joel is opening up about a tough moment with longtime friend and tourmate Elton John. In the second part of the new two-part HBO Documentary, 'Billy Joel: And So It Goes,' the 'New York State of Mind' singer shared how John's public comments that he needed rehab strained their friendship. 'He chalked it up to, 'Oh, he's a drunk.' And that really hurt me.' He added, 'I said, wait a minute? Don't you know me better than that? And there was bad blood for a little while. There was a dovetailing of things that happened during that time.' Joel and John first co-headlined a stadium together in 1994 during their 'Face to Face' tour. In the first part of the documentary, Joel admitted that he once 'resented' the comparisons to the 'Your Song' singer but eventually grew to embrace it as they continued to perform onstage together. According to People, John told Rolling Stone that they had 'so many cancelled tours because of illnesses and various other things, alcoholism' coming off their joint tour in 2010. John said of Joel in the film, 'He's going to hate me for this, but every time he goes to rehab, they've been light… I love you, Billy, and this is tough love.' In 2005, Joel went to rehab at the Betty Ford Center after his then-wife Katie Lee issued an 'ultimatum.' The couple divorced in 2009. After rehab, the 'Piano Man' singer took a break from the spotlight and stopped touring. In the documentary, Joel described John's comments as making him feel 'clobbered' and noted it was 'rock bottom' for him. 'I was disillusioned with what I thought it was all supposed to mean,' he said. 'It was like all the signs were pointing to me: Enough. And I wrote this letter to the band. ‘Untamed' Season 2: Everything We Know
Netflix's national parks detective thriller, Untamed, just concluded its first season. The Eric Bana led show was only intended to be a limited series, but fans seem to want more and the creators seem to have more story to tell. Bana stars as Kyle Turner, a man with a nose for criminal cases who makes a living figuring out why people die and disappear in the national parks system. Warning: spoilers for this season's mystery are ahead. Here's what we know so far about a second season of Untamed. Untamed was released as a limited series, meaning Netflix planned for it to be only one season. But that hasn't stopped streaming platforms from continuing a popular singular season show before and it seems like the cast and crew would be interested. 'We spoke about what would happen to Kyle after this, in theory. So you never know,' Bana told Variety. His co-star, Lily Santiago, said she's like a season with 'more solving of murders,' in an interview with TV Insider, adding, 'Honestly, I would love for her to get called up to go to a different place. Bring me to a mountain in Hawai'i. I'm hoping that it's new murder, new location, wilderness challenges, and new things to learn.' Creator Mark L. Smith told Tudum what he's been thinking might be in store for Kyle. 'Instead of Turner being in his element, he'll be in a land where he doesn't understand all the dangers and the risks, and he doesn't understand the people around [him],' he shared. 'He'll be a little bit on his back foot and a little bit unsure, and he'll have to learn as well.' The first season followed National Parks Service's Kyle Turner as he investigates the death of Lucy Cook in Yosemite National Park following her fall from El Capitan. Lucy's death is at first associated with a drug ring inside the park's caves, but Turner thinks there is something even fishier about the situation. He eventually learns Lucy was attacked by her biological father, Chief Paul Souter, who placed Lucy in an abusive foster home when she was a child. The show ends with Souter dying by suicide and a few other dramatic twists—but the case gets closed. Unfortunately, Turner gets suspended from the force and moves out of his home in Yosemite. Co-showrunner Elle Smith said to TV Insider that she has thought about a possible second season and imagines Turner and his partner, Naya, going to a different national park, explaining, 'They travel from park to park and case to case and things like that. So I think that's what was interesting to us, and if we got the opportunity to do it again, it would be getting to explore a different park, a different case.' She added, 'We would do this forever if they let us, but we'll see. We'll see how many adventures Turner has left in him.' It sounds like Eric Bana is down to come back as Turner, though a season in a new park could potentially present new investigators, a la True Detective. But Bana seems like a fan favorite, as was Lily Santiago as Naya. If they do stick together, but head to a new park, there could be an entirely new cast of supporting players.
