Katie Taylor tells of aspect of her career that is 'tough' for her family
Katie Taylor admits that her family find it 'tough' to see her banged up and bruised after her boxing matches as she prepares for her trilogy bout against Amanda Serrano.
The two rivals meet again in Madison Square Garden on July 11 as they look to produce another Fight of the Year contender.
For all her talents, Taylor is never one to take a conservative stance in the boxing ring. Rather than play a patient game, in both her bouts against Serrano, she was all guns blazing.
With her bruising fighting style, Taylor receives plenty of heavy punches, which makes it even more remarkable that she is still fighting at 39 despite all the punishment she takes.
Doing her media rounds ahead of the fight, Taylor said that her family finds it 'tough' seeing her get banged up and bruised, but also says she heals quickly.
Speaking to RTE, she said: "It's tough for them to see me all banged up and bruised after these fights when my eyes are out to here and my face is all bruised but I actually heal very quickly as well."
There will be plenty of eyeballs on her upcoming bout with Taylor, and Serrano has earned plenty of fans following their previous two fights.
When the pair first met in 2022, they produced one of the greatest fights to ever take place in Madison Sqaure Garden and earned the Sports Illustrated Fight of the Year nod for the instant classic.
Fans were forced to wait a while for their second bout. Originally meant to take place in Dublin in May 2023, Serrano was forced to pull out due to injury. Taylor would end up preoccupied with two bouts against Chantelle Cameron before announcing she would turn to the ring on the undercard of Mike Tyson versus Jake Paul.
That bout would also get rescheduled to November, but was worth the wait with the pair again producing an instant classic and was viewed by over 70 million people globally.
