When wild animals and stray dogs pose a threat to people's property and lives, the responsibility of ensuring human safety should be handed over entirely to the police, without having to wait for decisions from the Chief Wildlife Warden or the Animal Welfare department. For this, amendments must be made to the existing laws, he added.

"I am pleased to inform that under the 'Bihar Patrakaar Samman Pension Scheme', instructions have been given to the department to provide a monthly pension of Rs 15,000 instead of Rs 6,000 to all eligible journalists. Additionally, in the event of the death of journalists receiving a pension under the 'Bihar Patrakaar Samman Pension Scheme', instructions have been given to provide their dependent spouse with a monthly pension of Rs 10,000 instead of Rs 3,000 for their lifetime," Chief Minister Kumar posted on X. The Chief Minister also emphasised the importance of journalists in a democratic society, referring to them as the fourth pillar of democracy and highlighting their vital contribution to social development. He said, "Journalists play a crucial role in democracy. They are the fourth pillar of democracy and have a significant role in social development. We have been taking care of journalists' facilities from the beginning so that they can perform their journalism impartially and live with dignity after retirement." Notably, this announcement comes months ahead of the Legislative Assembly elections in Bihar, which are expected to be held in October or November this year. According to the petition, some members of the CPI (M), under the banner of All India Peace and Solidarity Organisation (AIPSO), approached the Azad Maidan police station on June 13 to seek permission for the protest. They highlighted that the protest was being organised by representatives of various political parties and civil society organisations. They were physically prevented from entering Azad Maidan, and around 30 people were detained at the Yellow Gate police station, it added. Senior advocate Mihir Desai, representing the political party, argued that the country's citizens have the right to protest at a designated place. He contended that even if the protest was against the country's foreign policy, the possibility of a law and order situation cannot be used as a reason to deny such rights to the citizens. However, the high court rejected the petition, stating that the political party should focus on its own country rather than on issues thousands of miles away. The latest Israel-Gaza war, which began on October 7, 2023, has resulted in the deaths of over 61,800 people, including approximately 59,866 Palestinians and 1,983 Israelis, according to the Gaza Health Ministry and the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
