Brazil starlet Estevao 'ready' for Chelsea move: Palmeiras coach
He will now complete a move to the London club, finally heading to England just over a year after Chelsea agreed to pay Palmeiras a reported 57 million euros ($67.1m), including bonuses, for him.
"I don't have sons, I have two daughters, but he is my son," Ferreira said after the match at Lincoln Financial Field, adding that he had exchanged words with Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca about Estevao.
"I spoke before with Maresca. He is a nice coach, and I told him that they bought an amazing player but more than this they bought an amazing person.
"He is an amazing player and I said that they need to take care of him and embrace him because for sure in the beginning he will make mistakes, but you saw today that he is a player with a lot of skills who can win a game on his own. He has that capacity."
Estevao was named the best player in the Brazilian league last year and has shown plenty of glimpses of his potential at the Club World Cup.
Now he must try to win a place in the Chelsea team in the face of stiff competition, with Maresca having a wide array of attacking options at his disposal.
"For sure he will need the support of the coach and directors because he is young and it is the first time he is leaving his country," Ferreira added.
"I told him it won't be the same because the sun comes out two or three times a year, the night comes early, but I believe Chelsea have all the conditions to support him.
"He is a fantastic player and I think he is ready."
'Huge talent'
Ferreira, the Portuguese coach who has been in charge of Palmeiras since 2020, earlier hugged Estevao in front of reporters, with the player smiling despite the disappointment of his team's exit.
Maresca said: "I spoke to Estevao for the first time after the game and told him it was the perfect night because we won and he scored.
"You can see he is a huge talent, a fantastic player, and the only thing for me is that when you come from South America or in general another part of the world to Europe, you need to adapt.
"So we need to help him to adapt and first of all to be happy, continue to enjoy football, but we don't have any doubt because he is such a good player that he is going to be a very important player for Chelsea."
Another future Chelsea player, Jamie Gittens, was in attendance in Philadelphia with the England Under-21 international winger joining from Borussia Dortmund.
"Jamie was here tonight and was on the pitch and will be with us for probably another day or two," Maresca said.
"He will then go on holiday and come back when we start the new season."

Lionel Messi scored two brilliant goals to lift Inter Miami to a 4-1 victory over Montreal in Miami's return to Major League Soccer action on Saturday in the wake of their elimination from the Club World Cup. In the 33rd minute, Messi found Tadeo Allende outside the area and Allende chipped a shot over Montreal goalkeeper Jonathan Sirios. In the 40th minute Messi conjured his trademark magic, cutting in from the right corner of the box, eluding Fernando Alvarez and curling the ball in at the far post for a goal that gave Miami a 2-1 halftime lead. Telasco Segovia made it 3-1 in the 60th minute with a blast from outside the area that hit the crossbar and bounced into the net. Messi bagged his second goal two minutes later, evading four defenders and finishing an outstanding solo run with a shot into the heart of the goal. Messi now has seven goals in his last four MLS matches, bringing his total to 12 in 14 games. "Leo is happy playing football," Mascherano said. "Every time he is fit, he is going to play. Garcia, 21, put Madrid ahead from close range early on a hot afternoon at the MetLife Stadium just outside New York City, and Fran Garcia then doubled their lead before the midway point in the first half. Dortmund never seriously threatened a comeback before a remarkable late flurry of activity, with Maximilian Beier pulling one back in the 93rd minute and Mbappe getting Madrid's third with a stunning overhead kick. Serhou Guirassy then completed the scoring with a penalty after Real's Dean Huijsen was sent off, before the full-time whistle finally blew. "Everything was going under control with the result, not conceding much, but the last 10 minutes (were) kind of crazy, when we lost a little bit our shape, our overall a good 80 minutes and the last 10 minutes to improve," Real coach Xabi Alonso told broadcaster DAZN. Alonso's side find themselves in the semi-finals despite Mbappe still not having started a game at the tournament. The France superstar, who did not play during the group stage due to illness, will now hope to start for the first time when Real take on his old club in a fascinating last-four showdown at the same venue on Wednesday. Patient build-up play on the right involving the imperious Jude Bellingham and Gonzalo ended with the two full-backs combining as a low Trent Alexander-Arnold cutback was swept in by Fran Garcia. They should have scored more goals before half-time, with Bellingham -- deprived of the chance to face his brother Jobe who was suspended -- firing just wide after a nice dummy by Vinicius Junior. The latter sent a shot wide when he tried to surprise Gregor Kobel from the edge of the box, while Aurelien Tchouameni cracked an effort off the woodwork just past the hour mark, albeit there was an offside earlier in the move. Dortmund could have made a real comeback attempt had half-time substitute Beier scored at the other end just before that, although their hopes were briefly raised late on. Beier made it 2-1 three minutes into time added on as he controlled a poor clearance and fired past Thibaut Courtois. Mbappe, who came on for Bellingham midway through the second half, then scored his 44th club goal since the start of the season with an overhead effort at the back post from a Guler cross. Then Guirassy was brought down at the other end, leading to centre-back Huijsen being sent off. Guirassy scored the penalty to make it 3-2 with his 38th of the season. "It is a deserved win for Real Madrid," said Dortmund coach Niko Kovac. "We showed our qualities and it is not a failure if you go home after a defeat against them."
