Naruto's father was Minato Namikaze — aka the Fourth Hokage — one of the fastest, smartest ninjas to ever live. His most famous technique was the Flying Thunder God Technique, which allowed him to teleport instantaneously on the battlefield. He was someone wise enough to be very calm, very brilliant, and incredibly powerful.
His mother was Kushina Uzumaki, a fierce and powerful kunoichi from the legendary Uzumaki Clan. She was a redhead, hot tempered as hell and big-hearted. She was equally the second person in history to possess the Nine-Tails (Kurama) inside of her, the former jinchuriki before Naruto himself.
Together, they made for a legendary couple — undeniably powerful, deeply in love, and wholly committed to protecting their home and their soon-to-come baby.

Minato could only seal half the beast, and he did so inside his newborn son, confident that Naruto would someday be strong enough to control it. It was because both he and Kushina willingly gave their lives that night — dying heroes, and as parents overflowing with love and hope.

Naruto's first encounter with Minato Namikaze comes during the Pain arc, once Naruto starts to lose control of the Nine-Tails out of rage. Just as Kurama is about to seize control, Minato materializes in Naruto's mind — a side effect of a special sealing technique he had placed in reserve, in case the Nine-Tails ever did take over.
When Naruto finally figures out who he's looking at, he's completely flabbergasted. 'Why would the Fourth Hokage be sealed inside me?' he questions.
In perfect timing, Minato says those words that send Naruto — and Naruto fans everywhere — to tears.
I'm your dad.
Naruto is reduced to tears as he loses control over his feelings. After years of wanting to know, he's finally face to face with his father — and all the rage and hurt pours forth.
Minato does not back down. He hugs Naruto, smiles with love and warmth, and tells Naruto how proud he is. He expresses remorse for the suffering Naruto endured but tells him that he had faith in his potential. T'Challa's father placing such faith in a son he can barely recall, making such accusations from the depths of his ancestral resting place, is a heartfelt, emotional display.

Later in the series, Naruto meets Kushina Uzumaki while training to control the Nine-Tails' power. After he finally defeats the beast inside him, a mysterious woman appears — with red hair and a familiar energy. Naruto asks, 'Are you the Nine-Tails' true form?' She punches him on the head and says, 'No, you idiot. I'm your mother.'
Their reunion is emotional and raw. Naruto falls to his knees and starts crying. 'I always wanted to meet you, Mom,' he says through tears.
Kushina embraces him and tells him everything she always wanted to say:
