Rajasthan is emerging as a major hub of decentralised solar energy

Along with making strides in solar energy, Rajasthan is also emerging as the country's major hub in the field of decentralised solar energy, Arti Dogra, chairman, Jaipur DISCOMs, said.
'In the past year, the state has achieved progress in this field. This has been possible due to the effective implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha Evam Utthan Mahabhiyan (Kusum Yojana) at the ground level,' she said.

Haryana to solarise all agricultural tube wells under PM-KUSUM
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini directed officials on Friday to connect all tube wells in the state's farming sector to solar energy in a phased manner. Saini gave these instructions while chairing a review meeting organised under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha Evam Utthan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) here. Energy Minister Anil Vij was also present at the meeting. The chief minister said the Haryana Power Generation Corporation Limited (HPGCL) should identify five-acre plots for the solarisation of at least two agricultural feeders in every district, where solar panels can be installed and electricity supplied to agricultural tube wells . According to an official statement, Saini suggested to the officials that a solar-power plant should be installed on about 300 acres of land in Ganni Kheda gram panchayat, near the 220-KV sub-station located in Raiwali village of Panchkula district. This plant will make it possible to supply solar energy to all agricultural tube wells of the district. Also, solar panels should be installed on vacant land at places like colleges, deputy commissioners' offices, the Pinjore fruit and vegetable market terminus and bus stands in Panchkula district, the chief minister said. He said in panchayats that provide land for solar power plants, the solar panel structures should be designed in a way that those can also function as "Kalyanam Mandapams", enabling the space beneath to be used for social and community functions. It was also decided at the meeting that solar energy panels will be installed on the sheds of the "mandis" of the Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board and warehouses of the Haryana Warehousing Corporation. Electricity will be generated from these solar panels and supplied for agricultural purposes, in accordance with the requirement. Additional Chief Secretary, Power, A K Singh informed the meeting that more than 1.58 lakh solar pumps have so far been installed under the PM-KUSUM scheme in the state, which is being implemented from 2018-19. A target has been set to install 70,000 new solar pumps in the state in the financial year 2025-26, for which a budget of Rs 600 crore has been allocated.

CM reviews investment MoUs in RR
Jaipur: Chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma Friday chaired a high-level review meeting on the implementation of investment MoUs signed during the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit 2024. He emphasised the need for mission-mode execution to accelerate economic growth and energy self-reliance in the state. Sharma informed that groundbreaking ceremonies for projects worth over Rs 4 lakh crore already took place, marking a significant step toward realising the state's investment potential. "The state govt is committed to making Rajasthan self-reliant in the energy sector. NMDC Mines conferred with 5-star rating for sustainable mining practices
Hyderabad, July 10 (UNI) State-owned NMDC, India's largest iron ore producer and responsible miner, has been conferred with the prestigious 5-Star Rating for sustainable mining practices. NMDC has been conferred with the 5-star rating for four of its iron ore mines, three mines in Bailadila region, Chhattisgarh - Deposit 14, Deposit 14 NMZ and Deposit 5; and one in Ballari district, Karnataka - Kumaraswamy Iron Ore Mine; for the financial year 2023-24, the company said in a release here today. The honour was presented by Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy in the presence of Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, and senior officials from the Ministry and IBM at a felicitation ceremony jointly organized by the Ministry of Mines and IBM. This year, out of 1,200 working mines, 95 mines have been awarded the 5-star rating. M. Jayapal Reddy, Executive Director (RP), Rabindra Narayan, Executive Director (Bacheli Complex), and S. K. Kochar, GM (Kirandul Complex), received the honor on behalf of NMDC. Commenting on the achievement, NMDC Chairman and Managing Director Amitava Mukherjee,said, "This prestigious 5-star rating is a testament to NMDC's commitment to sustainability, innovation, and operational excellence. Being included in the select group of 95 mines out of over 1,200 working mines to receive this honor underscores our leadership in sustainable mining.
