Sara Ali Khan Recalls Lying To Amrita Singh About Local Train Ride: 'Got Caught by A Journalist'
Sara Ali Khan has never shied away from expressing how close she is to her mother, veteran actor Amrita Singh. But like most teenagers, she too had her fair share of rebellious moments. In a recent appearance on BookMyShow Unscripted with RJ Sukriti, Sara opened up about one such incident when she lied to her mother — and got caught in a rather unexpected way.
The Metro… In Dino actor recalled sneaking a ride on a Mumbai local train without informing her mom. 'I actually have. I lied to my mom about it though. This was years ago. She didn't know that I was on a local train, so I pretended I was at a neighbour's house," she said.
What made things worse was how Amrita Singh found out — not from Sara, but from a journalist. 'A journalist actually called her and told her that I am so proud of the way you have brought up your daughter. I have a photo of her on a local train, can I print it?" Sara recounted. Naturally, Amrita was furious — not because of the ride itself, but because she had kept it a secret. 'She was really upset because I was young and there had just been an accident on the local train. She told me to be careful and just basically not lie about my location," Sara said, calling the memory 'not fun."
Sara also opened up in a past interview with Hindustan Times about how negativity on social media affects her mother. 'I can fully understand that this is some nameless, frustrated person. But maa toh maa hoti hai. That's the only thing that really gets to me. If I could block her social media, I wouldn't give a damn!"
'She reads and pretends there is nothing," Sara added. 'It's like the elephant in the room we don't address. But, I know she has read something sad. She doesn't address it, but I can see it on her face. Mujhe acha nahi lagta."
Sara is currently basking in the release of Metro… In Dino, directed by Anurag Basu. The ensemble film features a powerhouse cast including Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, Konkona Sen Sharma, Pankaj Tripathi, Aditya Roy Kapur, and others. The film hit theatres on July 4.

The opening day collection was ₹3.5 When it comes to occupancy, the film had an overall 27.18 per cent occupancy in Hindi on Saturday. The morning shows saw 11.65 per cent footfall, while afternoon shows registered 30.95 per cent footfall. The evening shows had 38.95 per cent footfall. The romantic film was released on July 4. Life in a Metro, which was released in 2007, was a sleeper hit. It has opened at just ₹80 lakh upon release. However, it built on its word of mouth to end up with a lifetime domestic collection of over ₹24 crore. About Metro in Dino With music composed by Pritam, this film is the spiritual sequel to Anurag Basu's 2007 hit Life... In A Metro, which starred Irrfan. Notably, Konkona Sensharma is the only lead from the original cast to reprise her role in the sequel. Sticking to the concept from the first part, the film follows the lives of four couples as they navigate the highs and lows of love and commitment in different cities. The musical romantic drama is written and directed by Anurag Basu and produced by T-Series Films and Anurag Basu Productions. The film weaves together several stories of contemporary couples and features an ensemble cast, including Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, Konkona Sen Sharma, Pankaj Tripathi, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Ali Fazal, and Fatima Sana Shaikh. The film opened to a positive response from critics. According to a review by Hindustan Times, the film is a 'messy-yet-beautiful ode to modern-day romance, is elevated by Pritam's score'. 'The screenplay and story are by Basu, and there's something magical that he brings to the big screen. One of the most innovative filmmakers of our time, he has touched upon a plethora of subjects- from identity crisis, to loneliness, to infidelity (pronounced hilariously as 'infertility' by Pankaj Tripathi's character), to loss- and condensed them into a 162-minute film,' read the review.

Metro In Dino Day 2 India Box Office: Anurag Basu's directorial shows reasonable growth to net Rs 5.50 crore on first Saturday; Total remain under par
Dino, directed by Anurag Basu and starring Ali Fazal, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Nina Gupta, Anupam Kher, Pankaj Tripathi, Konkona Sen Sharma and others, showed reasonable gains on day 2, after a low opening day. With Rs 5.50 crore net on day 2, the total of the movie stands at Rs 8.75 crore. Sunday should see a slight jump from day 2, and the movie will end with a weekend of Rs 14.50 crore net or so. The Day Wise India Net Collections Of Dino Are As Under Dino's Rs 8.75 Crore Net Total In 2 Days Is Under Par; Strong Weekdays Required The collections of Dino in India so far are not up to the mark. Being a multiplex-oriented, metro-centric film with a low opening day, a Saturday growth was obviously coming. What the film essentially needs is a very strong weekday trend so that it can retain good screens in week 2 amidst stiff competition from Superman, Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan and Maalik, apart from the already strong holdover releases. Dino Needs To Net Rs 55 Crore In India/Gross Rs 75 Crore Worldwide To Breakeven The weekday trend will determine whether Dino will barely cross Rs 30 crore net in India, or go on to do around Rs 40 crore net if not more. With the overseas collections not as strong as they should be, all the pressure is precisely on the India theatricals. As stated earlier, a Rs 75 crore gross worldwide collection is the bare minimum that the movie needs to do, in order to ensure that no one in the value chain loses any money. Given roughly Rs 10 crore gross will come from international markets, the Anurag Basu directorial needs to net around Rs 55 crore net, atleast. Dino In Theatres After Dino, Anurag Basu moves onto his next with Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela. Dino plays in theatres now. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates on Anurag Basu and his Dino.
