A Celestial Triumph
For Assoc Prof Dr Charunee Hongcharu, one of Thailand's most respected female conductors, the concert was more than just a musical event -- it was a profound celebration of divine creation and universal harmony.
The scale was majestic: 102 choristers and 47 musicians, all volunteers, from across the globe -- including Thailand, Korea, the Philippines, France, Singapore, the United States and African nations -- united to bring to life Haydn's oratorio, inspired by the Book Of Genesis, Psalms, and Milton's Paradise Lost.
Their combined artistry, supported by a superb cast of soloists -- Barbara Zion (Gabriel), Aritach Tantipanjwit (Uriel), Kittinant Chinsamran (Raphael and Adam) and Manasanun Aksornteang (Eve) -- captured every nuance of Haydn's score, from the dramatic emergence of light to the joyous creation of birds, lions, oceans and humankind.
As the final notes faded into air, the audience erupted into thunderous applause, hands clapping like rolling thunder in a spontaneous ovation that echoed the celestial majesty of the performance itself.
What resonated most deeply was not only the musical brilliance but the thematic message: The Creation calls us to reflect on the splendour of nature, the dignity of human life and the divine harmony from which all things arise. In a time of division and unrest, this work reminds us of our shared origins -- and the peace and beauty we were meant to embody.
This mid-year concert was made possible through the groundbreaking patronage of B.Grimm, whose recent commitment to the arts has already left a profound mark on Bangkok's cultural landscape. Their support enabled BCCO's diverse ensemble to offer this powerful gift to the public -- completely free of charge.
By evening's end, the hall stood still in awe. In sound and spirit, The Creation had been reborn -- not just as a masterwork of the Enlightenment, but as a living testament to unity, beauty and hope. Looking ahead, music lovers should mark their calendars for BCCO's cherished year-end tradition -- Handel's Messiah -- tentatively scheduled for Dec 13 and 14. It promises to be another uplifting and unmissable experience.

Company Of Execs Caught On Kiss Cam Says It's Launching Investigation
A viral clip of a CEO and a human resources chief caught on a Coldplay concert's kiss cam, entangled in what's believed to be an adulterous romantic moment, has been viewed more than 65 million times on TikTok, generated its own fake news cycle and sparked discourse about living in a surveillance state since it was posted Thursday. Now, the company the two work for is launching an internal investigation. Astronomer, the tech company at the center of the scandal, 'is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding,' a statement released Friday said. 'Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability. The Board of Directors has initiated a formal investigation into this matter and we will have additional details to share very shortly.' In the clip from Wednesday night's concert in Boston, a couple was seen on the jumbotron locked in an embrace ― until they realized they were on the big screen and scrambled to hide their faces, prompting some speculation from Coldplay frontman Chris Martin. 'Either they're having an affair or they're just very shy,' Martin said over the speakers. Internet sleuths quickly identified the two as Astronomer's chief people officer, Kristin Cabot, and CEO Andy Byron, who is married to someone else, according to records examined by other media outlets. Astronomer also corrected some misinformation floating around about the ordeal. '[N]o other employees were in the video,' the company said after the name of another Astronomer employee began circulating, identifying her as the woman smiling next to the couple and claiming she'd recently been promoted because she knew about the affair. Stories running with that unverified claim appeared on various news sites, including Yahoo. The company also clarified that Byron had not put out a statement, despite a fake one featuring Coldplay lyrics gaining traction online. 'Andy Byron has not put out any statement, reports saying otherwise are all incorrect,' Astronomer said Friday. Related... Spain's Bonmati feeling '100 percent' after reaching Euros semis
Aitana Bonmati said that she is back to her best after starring in Friday's 2-0 win over hosts Switzerland which took Spain into the semi-finals of Women's Euro 2025. Two-time Ballon d'Or winner Bonmati was named player of the match in Bern in her second start at the tournament after recovering from a bout of viral meningitis which briefly threatened her chances of playing in the Euros. "Yeah, today I felt 100 percent physically. It was an intense 90 minutes, what I'm used to doing, so I'm happy," Bonmati told reporters. "I didn't know if the meningitis would be a problem for the whole tournament, I worked hard to be ready as soon as I could and now I have my reward." Bonmati played the pass from which Athenea del Castillo broke the brave Swiss resistance in the 66th minute at the Wankdorf Stadium and was key to Spain's patient possession game. "I wanted to enjoy and feel myself as a football player, confident and full of energy. I suffered something that was out of my control, but I overcame it and I am proud that I turned it around." In the last four, world champions Spain will face one of France or Germany in Zurich on Wednesday. td/ea

Latrell spotted in post-match moment as Souths situation goes from bad to worse
Latrell Mitchell was spotted consoling a devastated Jai Arrow after South Sydney crashed to a seventh-straight loss on Friday night - the most Wayne Bennett has ever conceded as a coach. The Rabbitohs went down 30-10 to the surging Panthers, and had Keaon Koloamatangi added to their staggering injury list. Koloamatangi's ankle buckled underneath him when he tried to tackle Luke Garner in the second half, and he limped from the field in pain. The front-rower has been a shining light in an awful season for Souths, but he now appears likely for a stint on the sidelines. Mitchell will be lucky to play again this year after suffering a quad injury at training this week, while Cody Walker, Davvy Moale and Campbell Graham are in a similar boat. Souths have had the most games missed due to injury amongst all NRL clubs this year, and it's taken a heavy toll. Friday night marked the first time in Bennett's illustrious coaching career that he's suffered seven-straight losses, and he looks destined to finish in his lowest spot on the ladder ever. A Bennett-coached team has never finished lower than 13th, but Souths are sitting in 16th place with six games and a bye remaining. They're only two points ahead of the last-placed Titans, meaning Bennett is in danger of getting his first-ever wooden spoon. After Friday night's game, veteran forward Arrow looked devastated and buried his head into Mitchell's chest as his teammate consoled him. Mitchell was seen wrapping his arms around Arrow and offering some words of encouragement after another demoralising loss. "Our effort is second to none, but we have moments when we let teams off the hook," Jack Wighton told Channel 9. "It's usually late in sets and it's really killing us. But I'm proud of the boys for the effort." Wighton refused to use the injury crisis as an excuse, adding: "We could have been better tonight in many places, but we didn't throw the towel in. We've got some young kids and old boys. We haven't thrown the towel in and we're sticking in there for our fans, even though we're not getting the results." View this post on Instagram A post shared by NRL on Nine (@nrlonnine) Wayne Bennett can't fault effort of Souths players Bennett also said he was proud of the effort considering how many players are out. 'We're talking top players here as well (who are injured), but I was proud of their effort here tonight,' he said. 'We had to turn up and put a lot of effort in the game which we did, but there's no one that change-room in there that was disappointed with their effort.' 'Pete will be out for a week at least due to concussion,' Bennett said. 'Keaon has got an ankle problem and we just don't know how bad it is.' Wighton admitted Koloamatangi is a huge loss as he's been the team's best all season. 'He's led the way massively but every man at the moment is a big loss isn't it?' Wighton said. 'We're backs against the wall and down on troops but we just keep on turning up.'
