Range Rover SV Masara Edition launched in India at ₹4.99 crore. Restricted to only 12 units
Bringing its second India-exclusive special edition to the market, JLR has launched the new Range Rover SV Masara Edition, priced at ₹ 4.99 crore (ex-showroom). The new Range Rover SV Masara Edition is developed for India by Land Rover's Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) division and takes inspiration from the rare blue sapphire found in the Himalayas. This is the brand's second India-exclusive edition after the Range Rover SV Ranthambore Edition launched last year, and much like the former, the new Masara Edition will be restricted to just 12 units.
Range Rover SV Masara Edition: What's Special?
The new Masara Edition traces its origins to the blue sapphire found in the Himalayas. Masara translates to sapphire in Sanskrit, further establishing its India connect. The luxury SUV sports a special satin-finish blue paint hue that looks fantastic, and is complemented by the silver chrome and Corinthian Bronze accents on the grille, bumpers, and sides. The 'SV' badging across the exterior ensures it tells you this is a special Range Rover. The Masara Edition rides on 23-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels finished in silver and bronze, with black brake calipers. The cabin gets the blue and cream colour scheme with ash veneer and ceramic white finish all across, including specially embroidered seats inspired by the blue sapphire
The cabin also continues the blue theme and features a blue and cream dual-tone finish, with seats upholstered in premium perlino leather and complemented by a light cream ash burr veneer and a white ceramic finish. The special edition features embroidered seats that mimic the design of the sapphire, while personalised scatter cushions are available in a contrasting colour option. The scuff plates on all four doors adorn the 'SV Bespoke' branding, as well as the 'Masāra' Edition' and '1 of 12' designation. In terms of competition, the new Range Rover SV takes on the Mercedes-Maybach GLS, Bentley Bentayga, and Rolls-Royce Cullinan. However, the new Masara Edition gets an edge in terms of exclusivity, in a space that's already made for some highly exclusive individuals. JLR India says that nearly all 12 models have been booked.

JLR Wants Stronger Demand Despite 61,000 Buyers On Waitlist A report by The Guardian states that JLR needs more time to test its EVs, while the extended period will also give the automaker more time for demand to pick up. JLR previously said that over 61,000 buyers were on the waiting list for the new Range Rover Electric. Over 16,000 buyers were registered in the first week of February 2024. The automaker's sales dropped 15.1 per cent in the last three months since June this year after a temporary pause in sales in the US, its biggest market. However, the delay could help not only improve its upcoming products but could also help JLR ride out the tariff-related delays. Sales are expected to improve once the US-UK's limited trade deal comes into place, providing 10 per cent lower tariffs on the first 100,000 exports. Future JLR EVs Could Be Delayed The delay could result in JLR delaying its future projects. This includes the electric Range Rover Velar, which is slated to commence production in April 2026, while an EV under the Defender sub-brand is expected to start production in the first quarter of 2027. The upcoming Range Rover EV and Jaguar Type 00-based electric offering will be the first models built by the company itself. The company previously sold the Jaguar I-Pace as its first electric offering, but it was built by a contract manufacturer. The electric SUV will draw power from a dual-motor setup, one on each axle, and is expected to churn out about 550 bhp and 851 Nm of peak torque. Tata Motors-owned Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) on Thursday announced plans to reduce its managerial workforce by several hundred positions through a 'limited' voluntary redundancy program. The move is aimed at aligning its leadership structure more closely with the company's evolving business strategy in the luxury automotive segment. The UK-based car manufacturer, which has been under pressure from US President Donald Trump's tariff wars, welcomed the recent trade deal that eases some pressure on its automotive exports to the American market. Tata Motors Layoff The number of jobs set to be hit is estimated at around 500 amid high American tariffs which were cut to 10 per cent under the US-UK trade agreement, a rate only covering cars made in the UK. The trade deal terms also cap total annual car exports to the US at 100,000 models, with the higher rate applying to any vehicles crossing that mark. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer had chosen the UK headquarters of JLR in the West Midlands region to deliver a key speech back in May to reassure staff amid the US trade wars. As news of the job cuts emerged, Downing Street said JLR was 'responding to challenging global conditions'. It comes as JLR ceased production of most Jaguar models ahead of a complete relaunch expected next year. In November 2024, the carmaker unveiled a bold rebrand featuring a pink concept car and replacing its big cat logo with a capital J. JLR On VR Programme However, the latest figures released last week had revealed a drop in sales in the April to June quarter which had witnessed a temporary pause in shipments to the US amid high tariffs of 25 per cent on cars. 'JLR regularly offers eligible employees voluntary redundancy (VR) programmes,' a JLR spokesperson said. 'Through this limited UK VR programme for managers, JLR is aligning its leadership workforce for the business's current and future needs. We are grateful to the government for delivering at speed the new UK-US trade deal, which gives us the confidence to invest GBP 3.5 bn per annum to realise our strategy which is delivering,' the spokesperson said.
