Abhishek Bachchan
recently opened up about the first time he met his now-wife,
Aishwarya Rai
Bachchan, during a recent interview. The actor recalled their unexpected first meeting back in the late 1990s, when he was assisting on his father Amitabh Bachchan's film Mrityudaata and happened to visit the sets of Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya, which starred Bobby Deol and Aishwarya.
'I was on a recce for my father's film Mrityudaata with Mr. Mehul Kumar and our head of production, Shagun Vag, in Switzerland. My mother had sent me there because I'd grown up in Switzerland and studied in boarding school, so they felt I'd be familiar with the locales. Around the same time, I was very close to Bobby Deol, who was shooting Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya.
The day we were out on our recce, we happened to walk onto a set where Bobby was shooting a scene with Aishwarya.
I think it was at the Zanin train station, right next to Shtar. That was the first time I saw her in person. Of course, we'd all seen her during the Miss World phase, but this was the first real-life meeting. That evening, Bobby invited me to their hotel for dinner, and that's where we actually met for the first time,' Abhishek shared with Nayandeep Rakshit.
'I remember Mickey Contractor, who did her makeup and knew me since childhood, was there too.
Aishwarya tells me she couldn't understand a word I said because of my British boarding school accent,' he laughed.
'She does the heavy lifting with Aaradhya' — Abhishek praises Aishwarya as a mother
The conversation then turned to their daughter,
Aaradhya Bachchan
, and how she's been raised with grace despite being in the public eye. Abhishek was quick to credit Aishwarya for their daughter's values and upbringing.
'I have to give the credit of that entirely to her mother.
I get to go out and make my movies, and Aishwarya does the heavy lifting with Aaradhya. She's amazing. And selfless,' he said.
He reflected on the instinctive nature of motherhood, adding, 'Mothers are wired differently. They prioritize their child above everything else. That's why our go-to person in life is always our mom. It holds true for me even today.'

Aaradhya is growing up away from social media, says Abhishek
Abhishek also revealed that Aaradhya, who turns 13 this year, is not on social media and doesn't even have a phone yet.
Despite growing up in a legendary film family, she remains grounded.
'She's been brought up to be a very conscientious girl. That's a testament to her as an individual,' he said proudly. 'She's turning out to be a wonderful little lady. She's the pride and joy of the family. We're blessed.'
Abhishek concluded by reflecting on what truly matters in life: family. 'With time, you realise that happiness is just coming home to a happy and healthy family. That's so important,' he said.

Oasis singer Liam Gallagher apologises for using racial slur on social media post: ‘I do not discriminate'

Liam Gallagher of Oasis has issued an unconditional apology for using a racial slur in a now-deleted social media post earlier this week. The singer took to Twitter (now called X) on Wednesday to write his apology and emphasised that he does not discriminiate. Liam Gallagher's apology on Twitter. Earlier in the week, Liam posted and then deleted a tweet that contained a widely used racial slur for East Asian people. The tweet is still available to view via screenshots, and has earned the Oasis star criticism from social media users. One user wrote, "Liam, you can't say that." He replied, "Why," which was met with another user writing back, "Cuz it's racist." The singer subsequently responded by writing, "Behave!" However, in the days since, Liam not only deleted the post but also issued an apology. The apology has, however, irked some of the band's fans, who feel that Liam need not say sorry and the statement was just 'mild banter'. Liam Gallagher's offensive post came shortly ahead of Oasis' long-awaited reunion tour, which will begin in Wales this Saturday. The English rock band announced the tour last September, first revealing dates for the U.K. before announcing dates in the U.S., Canada and Mexico soon after. The band recently revealed they would be releasing an accompanying film tied to the concerts as well, directed by Steven Knight. About Oasis Oasis is a British rock band fronted by Liam and his brother, Noel Gallagher. The brothers' relationship has been notoriously fraught in the past, with the group officially breaking up 15 years ago, making their reunion tour one of the most anticipated concert tours of 2025. Mark Zuckerberg shares the 'stupidest' thing he has done on 4th of July

As the US celebrates its 249th Independence Day on 4th July, Meta's founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg celebrated it in a unique and eye-catching way, where he is seen sitting on a boat, with the US flag nearby. The surf video of him this time is a bit different from the last year, showcasing the costume donned with the US flag. Internet users say they can't imagine how he will celebrate it next year. This year's hilarious video has an interesting question: 'Is this the stupidest thing we've done so far?' Internet users are amazed to watch it and think whether it's the 'stupidest' stunt he has pulled yet. One of the users said, 'Most definitely not AI 😂😂' Another remarked, 'Full send !!!! 🇺🇸 cant imagine how you celebrate next year 😂'. A third commented, 'I literally woke up this morning and asked myself what you were going to do this year to top off the last few years 🤣'. 'America 🙌. This is amazing, 'Epic us" were some other remarks made. Last year video showed him surfing while holding the US flag in one hand and a beer can in the another. The United States celebrates its Independence Day on July 4 each year, marking the historic adoption of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. On this day, the Continental Congress formally declared the thirteen American colonies free and independent from British rule. Drafted primarily by Thomas Jefferson, the declaration proclaimed the colonies' right to self-govern and asserted the principles of liberty, equality, and the pursuit of happiness. Though the vote for independence actually occurred on July 2, the final wording and adoption of the document on July 4 became the symbolic birthday of the nation. Independence Day is a moment to honour the courage, vision, and sacrifice of the founding fathers and the many men and women who have defended the nation's freedom throughout its history. It stands not just as a remembrance of political separation, but as a celebration of enduring values, democracy, justice, and unity. Americans commemorate the occasion with fireworks, parades, music, and community gatherings, proudly displaying the flag and expressing gratitude for their freedoms. It's a powerful reminder that the spirit of independence lives on in each generation.

British rock band Oasis reunite in Cardiff, thrilling fans

(Adds fan reaction, comment by Liam Gallagher referencing ticket prices, paragraphs 9 and 17) Oasis started reunion tour in Welsh capital on Friday The band's second album was Britain's top seller in 1990s Fans had long hoped for the band to reform By Paul Sandle, Sarah Mills CARDIFF, July 4 (Reuters) - British rock band Oasis reunited in Cardiff on Friday as the Gallagher brothers put more than 16 years of acrimony behind them to deliver a hit-packed set that took thousands of fans back to the optimism and swagger of the 1990s. The Manchester band defined the "Britpop" revival of guitar music, before tensions between Noel Gallagher, the band's main songwriter, and his younger brother, lead singer Liam, led to its split. The group walked onto the stage in the 74,500-capacity Principality Stadium and launched into "Hello," sounding as tight as at the height of their fame. Interaction with the audience was minimal during the two-hour performance. Interaction between the brothers was nonexistent until a very brief hug at the end. The crowd, largely comprising middle-aged fans revisiting their youth, sang along to hits including "Cigarettes & Alcohol", "Supersonic" and "Roll With It." At the end of "Live Forever," a picture of Liverpool and Portugal footballer Diogo Jota, who was killed in a car accident on Thursday, was shown on the screens behind the band. Oasis ended with "Don't Look Back in Anger," "Wonderwall" and "Champagne Supernova," all pulled from their second album, "(What's the Story) Morning Glory?", the biggest-selling record in Britain in the 1990s. "Thank you for putting up with us over the years," Liam said. Adam Williams, 42, from Wrexham, North Wales, last saw the band in 2008. "They were probably better than they were then," he said. Oasis had announced the shows nearly a year ago, setting off a frenzy for tickets. "The thing that makes the Oasis reunion special is the thing that makes any reunion special: It has to be something that people really want and something that people thought they'd never see. And Oasis ticks both those boxes," music journalist Mark Sutherland told Reuters. Fans started to gather early outside the stadium, where official Adidas-Oasis football shirts were on sale for 85 pounds ($116). "They're more than a band, it's almost like a movement," said Matt Hobman, 48. "It's like a piece of Britishness." The Gallaghers were joined by original member Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs, as well as Gem Archer, Andy Bell and Joey Waronker on stage. Many fans waited for hours in online queues to buy tickets last year, only to find prices had jumped when they eventually had a chance to get them. Britain's competition watchdog launched an investigation into Ticketmaster over the sale, including the use of "dynamic pricing" to hike the cost to fans at the last minute. "Are you having a good time?" Liam asked the crowd. "Was it worth the 40,000 pounds you paid for the ticket?" Oasis play one more show in Cardiff, before the tour moves to the Gallaghers' home city of Manchester. It continues in Britain and Ireland, followed by shows across North and South America, Asia and Australia.
