Lucknow: A computer lab with 50 computers, a faculty room, a lift and a 280-seat auditorium have been inaugurated at the
Lucknow University
's Institute of
Pharmaceutical Sciences
(LUIPS). These upgrades aim to enhance student and faculty experiences by supporting online learning, research and industry-ready training.Vice-chancellor of the university Alok Kumar Rai launched the annual magazine LUIPS–Synergy (2024–25), showcasing achievements of students, faculty and researchers.
He honoured 24 students who qualified for GATE 2025 and 37 students placed in MedPlus and Macleods Pharmaceuticals."Infrastructure alone does not define progress, it is the opportunities we create for students to grow, innovate and succeed that truly matter. This development is a step toward shaping a brighter future for them." the VC said.

Targeted at finance professionals and aspiring entrepreneurs, the seven-month live online course will integrate academic learning with practical insights from the institute's faculty as well as industry curriculum will explore both foundational and advanced aspects of private equity and venture capital, including deal sourcing, valuation, fundraising, portfolio management, financial modelling, and exit strategies. Additionally, it was granted Category-I status by the UGC and ranked among the top 100 institutions in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), achieving 32nd place among State Public Universities. Additionally, the IIM Calcutta and ed-tech platform Imarticus Learning have announced the launch of an executive programme in Private Equity and Venture Capital. The course is designed for finance professionals and entrepreneurs. The seven-month live online programme will blend academic theory with real-world insights from IIM Calcutta's finance faculty and seasoned private equity and venture capital veterans. This course will help finance professionals and entrepreneurs navigate the changing investment landscape. The programme will have core and advanced topics, including deal sourcing, valuation, financial modelling, fundraising, portfolio management, and exit strategies. Keeping pace with the evolving trends, the curriculum will cover the entire investment cycle with digital and regulatory aspects, stated the press release.

Agency: Kolkata, Jul 29 (PTI) Alok Kumar Rai will take charge as the full-time director of IIM-Calcutta on July 30. He will formally take over from Saibal Chattopadhyay, who has been in the post since January 16, a statement said. Rai, formerly the vice-chancellor of the University of Lucknow, 'brings with him a deep commitment to academic excellence, research and institutional governance," it said. 'The institute looks forward to his leadership in steering IIM Calcutta through its next phase of growth, especially in an era of global transformation and AI-driven change," it added. The first female director of IIM-C, Anju Seth, had quit in 2021, one year before her term ended. She was succeeded by Uttam Kumar Sarkar, who was succeeded by Sahadeb Sarkar.
