Jordanian Minister of Awqaf Inspects Pilgrims in Mecca Jordan's Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohammad Al-Khalayleh, continued his inspection visits on Saturday evening to several hotels accommodating Jordanian pilgrims in the Jarwal and Al-Ma'la districts of Mecca. اضافة اعلان The pilgrims expressed satisfaction with the level of services provided, including food, beverages, and hotel accommodations, and extended their gratitude to the minister for the care they received. During the tour, which was accompanied by members of the media delegation, Dr. Al-Khalayleh listened to pilgrims' feedback and instructed the administrative and guidance teams to follow up on the pilgrims' needs and address any issues that may arise. Speaking to the press from one of the hotels, Al-Khalayleh confirmed that all Jordanian pilgrims are in good health and safe, with all necessary services readily available. He emphasized that the pilgrims lack nothing, noting that ministry personnel are on the ground to serve them. He also advised pilgrims to rest and avoid crowds and extreme heat during these days. Al-Khalayleh further noted that ministry teams are currently present in Arafat to prepare the camps ahead of the 8th of Dhul-Hijjah, when all pilgrims will be transported to Arafat to begin the official rites of Hajj.

The Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport, security agencies, Airport International Group, and the Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission, announced Sunday the start of a trial phase for e-gates (smart gates) at Queen Alia International Airport, aimed at streamlining and expediting travel procedures for Jordanian passport holders. According to a ministry statement, five e-gates have been installed in the arrivals hall and four in the departures area. The gates enable Jordanian citizens to pass through entry and exit points independently using biometric verification systems that scan the iris and passport data. To activate the service, travelers must register once in advance through the 'Sanad' app, having first enabled their digital ID by accessing the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship's services within the app and selecting 'Smart Gate Access Request.' Eligibility requirements include being a Jordanian national over the age of 16, holding a passport valid for more than six months, and having a registered iris scan. Once approved, the traveler can use the smart gates for one year without re-registration. The smart gates are designed for ease of use, high accuracy in reading passport information, and efficient capture of biometric data, reducing wait times and enhancing processing precision. The ministry confirmed that the trial phase will undergo continuous evaluation, with plans to expand access in future phases to include additional traveler categories and broader implementation.
