The news came from Nagarjuna when he shared his happiness on social media, saying, "We are delighted to share the engagement of our son, Akhil Akkineni, with our daughter-in-law-to-be, Zainab Ravdjee! We couldn't be happier to have Zainab join our family."

Rao was born in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh, and began his journey in cinema with the 1978 film Pranam Khareedhu. In his career spanning over four decades, he featured in over 750 films in Telugu cinema. Rao played negative roles and redefined them with distinctive performances. He was also an acclaimed theatre artist, known for his commanding voice and expressive acting. He is remembered for his role in one of Ram Charan's hit films Naayak, released in 2013. Throughout his career, he portrayed a variety of characters — from villains and comic roles to emotionally layered supporting characters. He shared screen space with legendary stars and younger actors alike, including Krishna, Chiranjeevi, Balakrishna, Nagarjuna, Venkatesh, Mahesh Babu, Pawan Kalyan, Allu Arjun, and Sai Dharam of his most memorable films include Ahana Pellanta, Pratighatana, Yamudiki Mogudu, Khaidi No.786, Shiva, Bobbili Raja, Yamaleela, Santosham, Bommarillu, Athadu, and Race Gurram. Soon after the news broke, tributes poured in from across the Telugu film industry, fans, and members of both the film and political megastar Chiranjeevi called Rao a "multifaceted genius" in his long post on X. Recollecting his illustrious career, he noted his commanding screen presence and expressed grief over the "void" left by Ravi Teja, who collaborated with Srinivasa Rao in over 10 films - including 'Nee Kosam', 'Annayya', 'Mirapakay', and 'Power' - expressed deep sorrow and recalled the late actor's profound influence on his career. He wrote on X, "Grew up watching him, admiring him, and learning from every performance. Kota Babai was like family to me, I cherish the lovely memories of working with him. Rest in peace, Kota Srinivasa Rao garu. Om Shanti (sic)."Actor Vishnu Manchu also shared a heartfelt note, remembering their time together on set.
