Telangana plans forensic audit of land ‘fraud'
The violations were allegedly committed by using the Dharani portal, the integrated land revenue records management system, which was rolled out during the BRS regime. Sources privy to the developments said that the pilot project would be completed in two months.
According to top sources, the government intends to begin the forensic audit in these two key constituencies, both of which are politically sensitive. They have long been strongholds of the opposition BRS. While Sircilla is represented by BRS working president KT Rama Rao, Siddipet is the constituency of senior BRS leader and former minister T Harish Rao.
Based on the terms of reference set by the Revenue department, the Kerala Security Audit and Assurance Centre (KSAAC) will carry out the investigation.
The sources added that the investigation is likely to start within a fortnight.
The decision to start the audit in Sircilla and Siddipet constituencies is being viewed as politically motivated, with ruling party insiders suggesting it could be the beginning of a wider effort to expose alleged financial and administrative misconduct under the previous government led by the BRS.
The proposed forensic audit will involve a detailed technical and legal scrutiny of land records, mutations and ownership changes, using advanced tools like satellite imagery, blockchain verification and revenue department cross-verification.
This is the first time the state is attempting such a high-level investigative mechanism to address land fraud and encroachments. The sources said that similar audits are likely to be carried out across other districts, especially those where suspicious land transactions took place, if the pilot proves successful.

First unit of Yadadri Thermal Power Plant dedicated
Hyderabad: Deputy chief minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka announced that the entire 4,000 MW Yadadri Thermal Power Plant (YTPP) would be dedicated to the nation in Jan 2026. Of the total 4,000 MW, the deputy chief minister dedicated the first unit of 800 MW of the thermal power plant on Friday and termed it as a milestone in meeting the energy needs of the state. Vikramarka said the plant construction got delayed by two years and the project cost escalated due to delays in getting environmental clearances during the BRS govt and the Congress, after coming to power, secured all the required clearances within two months after coming to power. The power plant unit was commissioned by the deputy CM along with other ministers N Uttam Kumar Reddy, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and Adluri Laxman Kumar on Friday. Hyderabad: The race for a ticket to contest the bypoll to the Jubilee Hills constituency has intensified, with even a sitting MLA expressing keen interest in entering the fray. According to sources, turncoat MLA from Khairatabad, Danam Nagender , has sent feelers to the Congress leadership, indicating that if he is fielded for the bypoll, he can ensure party's victory not only in Jubilee Hills but also in Khairatabad constituency. Danam won the Khairatabad seat on a BRS ticket in 2023 and later joined the Congress ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. A senior Congress leader stated that there is a high demand for the Jubilee Hills bypoll ticket. "Almost everyone in the Congress is of the opinion that whoever wins the bypoll will be given a cabinet berth. This is because there is currently no minister in the cabinet from Greater Hyderabad. The Congress failed to win any of the 24 seats in Greater Hyderabad during the 2023 assembly election. Jubilee Hills is a sitting seat of the BRS, and the party is likely to field a family member of Maganti Gopinath, whose death necessitated the bypoll. The bypoll is also prestigious for the BJP, as it will be the first major election for a seat in the assembly under the leadership of the BJP's new state president, Ramchander Rao. Also, the Jubilee Hills seat is part of the Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency represented by Union minister G Kishan Reddy.
