EXCLUSIVE Why celebrity transparency about plastic surgery might not be all it seems: Stars like the Kardashians and Megan Fox are seemingly 'revealing all' about the work they've had done - but what they decide to share is 'highly curated', says expert
Last month, Kylie Jenner - the youngest of the tweakment-heavy Kardashian-Jenner clan was highly praised for sharing details of her breast enhancement surgery on TikTok.
Since, her older sister Khloe Kardashian has followed suit - revealing she's had a rhinoplasty, Botox and fillers.
And they're not the only stars finally opening up after years of dismissing rumours they'd had plastic surgery.
Several high-profile celebrities have confessed to the 'tweakments' they've had done - and even more surprisingly, some A-listers are seemingly suggesting they're revealing 'all' the plastic surgery they've undergone.
But eyebrows have been raised if these Hollywood stars are really being as transparent as it seems, with one aesthetic practitioner telling Femail the information is 'highly curated'.
Last year, Megan Fox, who has baffled fans with her everchanging appearance, revealed she had a series of procedures.
The Transformers star revealed she had spent $30,000 on the 'biggest boobs that could fit in my body'. She also admitted a nose job in her early 20s - but denies claims she's had the procedure done seven or eight times.
Megan went on to dismiss rumours about other procedures she'd endured - insisting she would never have fat taken out of her body because she's so lean - while candidly discussing the work she wants to have done in the future.
Ironically, despite admitting she loves the results of surgery and wants people to regard her as a 'circus freak', she confessed she's shunned many common procedures because she's terrified of anaesthetic.
Speaking on the Call Her Daddy podcast she revealed the work she'd had had done on her face - getting filler and Botox but not a facelift or threads - a nonsurgical procedure designed to lift sagging skin and stimulate collagen production.
She explained: I've never had a facelift of any kind, no lateral brow lift although I would like one!
'No regular brow lift, I've never done threads. That's not because of some moral thing, I just don't really believe they work and I'm also afraid that they would interfere when I do need to have a facelift.
'I am very tempted to go have my eyebrows snatched like all the way [back]. I want that look. That seems fun and you can do it on a lunch break and I see why it's so tempting,'
She went on to dismiss rumours she'd had buccal fat removal, (cheek slimming) explaining: 'I've never had that done I'll never have any fat removed.
'I'm a very like lean person that doesn't have enough body fat or fat in my face so I will only ever put fat in.
' I will never be taking fat out, which leads me to I've never had any liposuction or body contouring or anything like that.'
In May, Kris Jenner, 69, caused shockwaves when her representative candidly confirmed that Dr. Steven Levine, a New York City plastic surgeon, was responsible for the 'recent work' on her face, which set social media ablaze when first revealed.
Weeks later, her youngest daughter Kylie Jenner, 27, went one step further by confirming the exact specification of her breast implants in response to a fan on social media, and even shared who her doctor was, Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Garth Fisher.
Her sister Khloé Kardashian then followed suit, responding to a London-based aesthetician's Instagram clip about her with a detailed breakdown of what she has had done - complete with doctors and service providers.
However, a leading UK aesthetic practitioner has warned that it's 'important to recognise that this new transparency is often highly curated'.
Dr Jessica Halliley, founder of Your Beauty Doctor Clinic, told FEMAIL: 'There's definitely a cultural shift happening where celebrities are now being more open about cosmetic procedures.
'But it's important to recognise that this new transparency is often highly curated. While someone like Khloe Kardashian might discuss a nose job or facial tweakments, there's usually silence around more invasive body procedures like liposuction or BBLs.'
Earlier this month, Khloe left fans disgruntled when she failed to include a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) on her list of treatments, and while it's not confirmed that she's had the procedure, onlookers considered it a glaring omission.
''Transparent'?… notice she didn't say BBL,' one user wrote on X after Khloe shared her list of treatments, while another added, 'The most obvious BBL of them all maybe.'
Khloe took an expert's assessment in stride and even responded the next day with a detailed breakdown of what she has had done — complete with doctors and service providers
'She did not mention the addition or removal of her BBL, but she definitely had one,' another noted.
Fresh off her appearance at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez's star-studded wedding in Italy, Khloe earned a glowing shout-out from London-based aesthetician Dr. Jonny Betteridge, who called her the 'standout face' of the event.
Betteridge noted that the Kardashians star's look has 'changed a lot over the past few years' and speculated that her transformation likely involved a 'temporal brow lift,' rhinoplasty, lip filler, and a face and neck lift.
Khloe responded the next day with a detailed breakdown of what she has had done - complete with doctors and service providers - as some fans praised her honesty.
She decided to set the record straight in the comments section of the expert's video.
Khloe kicked off the note with: 'I take this as a great compliment! First off I think these photos are about 15 years apart, but here's a list of things that I have done. I've been very open in the past about what I have done so here we go.'
Khloe listed each procedure, as well as which doctor or what place she had them done at.
'Nose job @drkanodia90210,' referring to Dr. Raj Kanodia, also known as Doc Hollywood according to his Instagram page.
'Laser hair for the hairline and everywhere else @sevlaseraesthetics, Botox and sculptra where my face tumor was removed in my cheek @7qspa, soft wave laser for skin tightening @softwavetherapy.' she continued.
'Filler in the past but not any over the last few years (I hear it never goes away, so I'm sure it's still there but calmed down, lost 80 pounds over the years (slow and steady) @coachjoe.paris,' Khloe noted.
'Collagen baby Threads underneath my chin and neck @thethingswedo.co, salmon sperm facials/regular facials, peptides, vitamins and daily skin care,' she said.
'In 2025 there are many other things we can do before surgery but when it's timed, and if I choose to, I know some great doctors,' she added.
She wrote another comment in reply to her surgery and procedure reveal: 'Those photos are actually OVER 15 years ago... man time does fly.'
DailyMail.com contacted representatives for Kardashian about Betteridge's claims but did not immediately hear back at the time.
Meanwhile, Dr Halliley explained: 'We've seen huge speculation about various public figures with trends like buccal fat removal, but generally celebrities avoid directly confirming or denying these changes.
'The reality is that even in this recent era of openness, many still reveal only what feels socially acceptable or brand-aligned, often to control the narrative or distract from other enhancements – or even past mishaps.'
Before Khloe shared her list, her younger sister Kylie divulged the details of her breast augmentation in a candid response to a user on TikTok who was desperate to 'know how to get them to sit like that.'
'445 cc, moderate profile, half under the muscle!!!!! silicone!!! garth fisher!!! hope this helps lol,' Kylie commented, describing her exact boob job 'order' and throwing in the name of her surgeon for good measure.
The Kardashian matriarch then hopped on the trend and revealed that Kylie's surgeon also gave her a facelift in 2011, though not revealing any other treatments.
Kris, 69, dropped the fun fact after Dr. Garth Fisher thanked Kylie, 27, for publicly crediting him with her 2019 surgery.
Calling him a 'close and treasured friend', Kris praised Garth for performing her first facelift over a decade ago and thanked him for allowing cameras in the operating room.
'Garth you are such a superstar class act!! You did my first facelift in 2011… 14 years ago!!!' Kris said in the comments section of his Instagram post.
'[You] made it the most amazing experience ever and even gave us access to film so that others could get a peek inside what it's like and not be afraid… you have taken great care of us always and remain such a close and treasured friend!! Such an incredible talent!!'
Then, Kristin Cavallari followed in the Kardashian-Jenner footsteps by letting her fans in on the details of her latest breast augmentation.
The 38-year-old set the internet ablaze by revealing her plastic surgery, sharing on her podcast last month that she had decided to 'redo my boobs.'
The Hills alumna offered further information about her procedure in response to a fan question during an Insta Stories Q&A.
An admirer asked Kristin what size implants she got, gushing over the reality star: 'I always tell my friends you are my boob-spiration.'
'Thank you!' replied Kristin, before explaining that she was 30C before and now she's 34D. 'Everyone thinks I went a lot bigger, but I've just pushed them up a couple times since getting them done,' she said.
Soon after, Shark Tank star Barbara Corcoran followed suit and revealed every plastic surgery she's ever undergone.
The 76-year-old businesswoman said she was inspired to break down her procedures because 'the cool kids were sharing their plastic surgery secrets'.
Barbara told her followers that she's had an eye lift, brow lift, neck lift, and three facelifts.
She's also received a lower eyelid skin pinch, which removes a small amount of skin below the eyelashes to help smooth skin.
In addition, the TV personality revealed that she gets filler in her face four times a year, as well as ear filler four times a year.
It's not quite the same extent as 44-year-old Katie Price's list. The former glamour model also hopped on the trend and claimed to reveal all her surgeries.
Talking on a Snapchat video, she said via the Mirror: 'So the work I've had done on my face is, god where do I b***** start, nose…' she began, pointing to various areas on her face as she continued. Indicating her temple and cheekbones, she said, 'I've had here lifted, here lifted…'
She gestured to her upper lip, and continued: 'I've had under here done but I wouldn't recommend anyone do that...' She finished the rundown by adding: 'I've had lip filler, my teeth done, I'm trying to think if I've had anything else. That's it.'
Over the years, Katie has had at least 16 boob jobs, three rhinoplasties and two facelifts.
Dr Jessica Halliley concluded that she's supportive of celebrities opening up about their plastic surgeries, but she finds the selective nature of the admissions problematic.
She said: 'As a medical aesthetic practitioner, I always advocate for honesty and ethical practice with my patients.
'It's completely valid for both celebrities and everyday people to make personal choices around treatments, but this selective transparency among influential celebrities – especially those who base their brand primarily on their appearance or lifestyle - can skew public perception and reinforce unrealistic beauty standards.'
She insisted: 'We need to make space for balanced conversations – where aesthetic treatments are no longer taboo, but also not misrepresented.'
However, Dr Apul Parikh of Allergan Aesthetics said that celebrities' growing honesty on plastic surgery is a step in the right direction and is helping to reduce stigma on the topic.
He said: 'As a surgeon and a practitioner in the field of aesthetics, I welcome this growing transparency amongst public figures who are beginning to open up and discuss their cosmetic journeys.
'I do think, however, it is important to keep in mind that any medical work or aesthetic work is deeply personal.
'I think celebrities have a hard time in these modern days where they are placed under such scrutiny that they feel they need to divulge what is very confidential information.
'I think people at large need to be aware of this and grant these celebrities some leeway and ensure that their confidentiality is maintained. And we respect that.
'As I mentioned, celebrities are under immense scrutiny, and there is still a lot of stigma surrounding cosmetic treatments and surgery.
'I really appreciate this growing trend of discussing procedures, even if it is selective initially.'
The expert added: 'It is interesting when these celebrities do only potentially discuss certain procedures, perhaps the smaller or more subtle procedures that they've carried out, and don't necessarily reveal everything that they've had done.
'So, although it is not being completely honest and open, I do think this partial wave of honesty is a step in the right direction.
'All in all, I am very grateful that this seems to be a move towards being more vocal about treatments that celebrities have had, and I think this should only encourage more people to come forward.
He concluded: 'It'll help remove the stigma associated with cosmetic treatments and also will help ensure that patients have realistic expectations.'

The Hunting Wives fans think they've spotted a glaring error in the Netflix series
Fans of the hit Netflix series The Hunting Wives think they caught a mistake in the premiere episode. One TikTok user highlighted a scene in which actress Brittany Snow 's character, Sophie O'Neil, opens her kitchen freezer, revealing a Kraft Mac & Cheese product inside. 'Of all the things that shocked me about The Hunting Wives, this is the part that really had me shook,' the viewer wrote across the snippet. She added in the caption, 'Why do I always notice weird things in shows?' The clip zoomed in on the inside of the freezer, confusing fans who are primarily familiar with the food brand's pasta offerings. 'I've been WAITING FOR SOMEONE ELSE TO BRING THIS UP,' one person wrote in the comments section of Shandy's post. Someone else quipped about Evan Jonigkeit's character: 'It was definitely Graham, add that to the list of reasons we don't like him.' Another fan came to the conclusion, 'There is not reasonable explanation which makes this hilarious.' But a more knowledgable consumer shared an explanation for the puzzling display. 'Those are mac n cheese frozen meals, friend,' they shared. And a different social media user said knowingly, 'Any time a brand or logo is shown in a movie, it is a product placement. So many people are talking about this so they did their job.' The Hunting Wives is adapted from a bestselling book, and the sex-fueled show has struck a chord with audiences since its July 21 premiere. The eight-part series is based on author May Cobb's erotic thriller of the same name and adapted by Rebecca Cutler, who said she was in 'awe of its flagrant horniness.' It doesn't shy away from full-frontal nudity, no-holds-barred sex, and steamy make-out sessions that have earned it comparisons to Big Little Lies and Desperate Housewives. Viewers are introduced to its protagonist Sophie as she relocates to deep-red Texas from Boston with her husband Graham. She finds herself embroiled in the lives of a mysterious and exclusive group of gun-toting MAGA women dubbed The Hunting Wives. Among them is Margo (Malin Åckerman), who lures Sophie into their world of sex, scandal, and salacious gossip. Margo and her husband, Texas governor hopeful Jed (Dermot Mulroney), have an open relationship that gives the high-flying socialite freedom to have flings with younger men, such as the barely-legal Brad (George Ferrier) and also women like her friend Callie (Jaime Ray Newman).

Justin Timberlake's sassy five-word declaration after Lyme disease reveal
Justin Timberlake put on his sweats and declared via Instastory Monday that he was 'not doing s*** today' after 'accomplishing the mission' of finishing his $205.2M-grossing, 121-date The Forget Tomorrow World Tour. The 44-year-old pop star's wife Jessica Biel also Instastoried a snap of him and his crew posing next to a private plane on the tarmac, which she captioned: 'So happy they're home!' Justin officially concluded his seventh headlining tour last Wednesday in Turkey after receiving substantial backlash online about his viral low-effort performances wherein the audience appeared to sing more lyrics than he did onstage. 'I've been battling some health issues, and was diagnosed with Lyme disease,' Timberlake - who boasts 186.1M social media followers - announced last Thursday. 'Living with this can be relentlessly debilitating, both mentally and physically. When I first got the diagnosis I was shocked for sure. But, at least I could understand why I would be onstage and in a massive amount of nerve pain or, just feeling crazy fatigue or sickness.' The 10-time Grammy winner nearly quit the tour but 'decided the joy that performing brings me far outweighs the fleeting stress my body was feeling.' 'I was reluctant to talk about this because I was always raised to keep something like this to yourself. But I am trying to be more transparent about my struggles so that they aren't misinterpreted,' Justin added. Indeed, Timberlake had mysteriously canceled or postponed several shows due to the flu, bronchitis, laryngitis, an ankle injury, and an ongoing back injury over the past year. Most cases of the bacterial infection, spread through the bite of blacklegged ticks, can be treated successfully with a few weeks of antibiotics but, left untreated, can spread to joints, the heart, and the nervous system - according to the CDC. Fans skeptical of the No Angels singer's claim could read the comment from his father Randy Timberlake: 'I'm so proud of you son. You are the greatest example of "Never Give Up!" I pray that you will get [through] this very soon. Get some well deserved rest! Much love your way.' Justin's *NSYNC bandmate Chris Kirkpatrick shared a touching tribute to his 'little bro' who 'showed a whole new level of strength' battling 'Lyme disease day in and day out.' 'He never gave up. No complaints, no excuses — just heart, grit, and pure determination,' the 53-year-old boybander wrote. 'That kind of resilience is rare. I couldn't be more proud to call him my friend. Tour life is already a grind, but doing it while fighting Lyme disease? That's superhero status. Here's to strength, perseverance, and one hell of a tour. Love you little bro!' Other celebrities suffering from the tick-born illness include Yolanda Hadid, Bella Hadid, Anwar Hadid, Justin Bieber, Ben Stiller, Amy Schumer, Alec Baldwin, Shania Twain, Debbie Gibson, Avril Lavigne, Riley Keough, Ramona Singer, and Kelly Osbourne. Timberlake 'pushed through for months before finally getting answers' after being encouraged to get tested by his 43-year-old concerned wife. 'She felt like something was off,' a source told People on Sunday. 'She could tell that he wasn't himself. She's incredibly supportive.' Last Thursday, the married couple of 12 years celebrated the fifth birthday of their son Phineas, and they're also proud parents of 10-year-old son Silas. It's unclear if the 'home' Jessica was referring to meant they're relaxing at their 127-acre property in Lepiers Fork, TN or their house at the private members-only resort The Yellowstone Club in Big Sky, MT. In 2022, Justin listed the the 10-acre, seven-bedroom Hollywood Hills home he bought from Helen Mirren for $8.3M back in 2002 for $35M. Timberlake originally met Biel in 2007 while snowboarding with a group of friends in Park City, UT. Before the Emmy nominee - the former Mouseketeer reportedly romanced the likes of Fergie, Britney Spears, Jenna Dewan, Alyssa Milano, Emma Bunton, Tatyana Ali, Cameron Diaz, and Lindsay Lohan. The No Angel singer's *NSYNC bandmate Chris Kirkpatrick (L) shared a touching tribute to his 'little bro' who 'showed a whole new level of strength' battling 'Lyme disease day in and day out' Before Justin - Jessica was said to have previously dated her 7th Heaven co-star Adam LaVorgna, her Cellular/London co-star Chris Evans, and retired New York Yankee Derek Jeter. On September 13, Timberlake pled guilty to driving while impaired, paid $760 in fines, agreed to do 25 hours of community service at a non-profit of his choice, and had his New York license suspended for 90 days. The Selfish singer - who refused to take a breathlyzer test - successfully avoided a criminal DWI charge and infractions for running a stop sign and failure to keep in his lane stemming from his June 18, 2024 arrest in Sag Harbor, NY.

Jesus Christ Superstar review – Cynthia Erivo leads rousing LA revival
Much like its namesake, Jesus Christ Superstar comes with a storied history. There have been at least four Broadway productions and many revivals, tours and adaptations of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's 1971 biblical rock musical. Just last month, the UK saw a revival met with acclaim. In Los Angeles's version, not without 'backlash', Cynthia Erivo is the Holy Messiah. Jesus, clad in white cloth and cool white boots, faces betrayal at the hands of Judas (played by a magnetic Adam Lambert). In the first half of the show, as the apostles ask Jesus about his plans, and as lepers ask him to heal them, Erivo's Jesus is restrained and she doesn't quite make the role fully her own: Jesus is composed even in uncertainty, steady even when overwhelmed. But immediately into the second act, after Jesus realizes a disciple will betray him and as he pleads with God against the death that awaits him, Erivo lets despair take over in Gethsemane, stoking a tender touchpoint that makes Jesus feel human but commanding, helpless and then resolute. There is no doubt that you're in the presence of a mastery of art form, of unbridled talent as Erivo sinks to her knees and resigns to God's will – tears filling her eyes, the music simple and her crystalline voice carrying into the night. The outpour at first doesn't feel quite earned but, on true skill and discipline, becomes moving and stunning to witness, enthralling the audience into a minute-long standing ovation. Judas, a juicier role that runs from rebellion to righteousness to sorrow, is a punk delight. Lambert is perfectly cast, harnessing a despair that's mightily accessible throughout: he splits the difference between someone you'd meet at a bar who's got some regrets and someone who was born at the gates of hell. In Damned for All Time / Blood Money, as Judas wrestles with whether or not to betray Jesus and tell Pharisees and priests where he is so that they can capture him, Lambert is a wavering flag, a lilt of evil. After Jesus is taken and Judas realizes the pain he's wrought, Lambert offers in Judas' Death a window into a sorrow we've all reached for before, a glimmer of hope that you're not as bad as what you've just done. Hamilton's Phillipa Soo, playing Mary Magdalene, brings a buttery voice and is a smart match to Erivo's, and governor of Judea Pontius Pilate (Raúl Esparza), a commanding presence. But perhaps because of these heavyweights, other moments are more forgettable: the choreography (especially the apostles') feels relatively simple and fades into the background, and the fanfare of King Herod (played by a last-minute John Stamos filling in for Josh Gad, who has Covid) in Herod's Song could have offered a thicker moment of fun and delight, but Stamos is too much bravado over jeer. The set design for the most part leaves something to be desired, primarily a large screen hovering in the back; on it are graphics that aim to be camp but land more lazily – sometimes more literal camp with a mountain range of REI-type graphics, sometimes Vaporwave-like art you'd find at a Miami DJ set. But the holiness of the Hollywood Bowl venue is undeniable: as Jesus's followers fawn and plead or when the orchestra softens with a solo nigh, a sense of devastation seeps in, the sky above the outdoor amphitheater a deep, navy hue, God's Earth the stage. Despite the unevenness of Jesus's conviction and some rushed ensemble songs, this rendition captures the tragedy of devotion and the contradictions of betrayal. 'I don't know how to love him,' sing Mary and Judas, in separate scenes – and still, you know they do.
