The best 2025 jewelry gifts and trends, according to London Jewelers

New York Post07-05-2025
London Jewelers rises to every occasion.
From Mother's Day and engagements to anniversaries, the venerable retailer has the perfect gifts for all of life's precious moments. And next year, the company will mark a milestone of its own: a century of excellence.
'Having a business that has survived 100 years with four generations involved is very rare today,' says Candy Udell, London's president, who runs the company alongside her husband, Mark; their children, Randi and Scott; and their nephew, Zach. 'We have built this with a lot of pride and integrity and my customers know how hard we work. We started out with four people and now we have 18 stores in New York and New Jersey carrying all the top luxury jewelry and watch brands, and we've built wonderful relationships along the way.'

So many of London's partnerships — and friendships — were established decades ago. 'If I want to give us any kudos,' says Udell, 'it's that we were able to establish valuable relationships with so many of the founders of these iconic brands way before they were as successful as they are today. We go back a long way and have a great history,' she continues, mentioning legacy names like Rolex, Patek Philippe, Cartier, Bulgari, Van Cleef & Arpels, Panerai and Buccellati. 'It's been pretty incredible building personal relationships with these brands over 50 years.'

And the future looks even brighter.
'We are working on some incredible projects,' says Udell. 'Rolex just unveiled a new store in Manhasset last week and a Rolex Boutique will be opening this August in East Hampton, the first of its kind in the world. There will be more exciting news next year when our new watch boutique opens with even more brands and a separate Patek Philippe salon within. All in time for our 100th anniversary!'

To commemorate its centenary, London is planning a series of glittering functions, from in-store parties to brand events to specialty product introductions. Philanthropy is important to the company, which hosts fundraising initiatives for causes, offers scholarships and helps others via generous actions like funding hot meal deliveries to five hospitals during the COVID pandemic. 'London's personal mission is to give back to the communities that support our business by helping the many local charities,' she says, adding that the company will be doing a symbolic 100 good deeds, one for every year.

Giving is a theme at London, whether it's helping those in need, sharing expertise or finding a gift that mom will cherish. 'It's wonderful to give a watch or a piece of jewelry, and it creates great memories,' says Udell, noting that the Manhasset flagship will be offering tulip bouquets and handmade silk flowers over Mother's Day weekend and providing exceptional hospitality throughout the store. 'We have pieces that you can pass down to generations to come.'
She loves the purity of modern classics like diamond studs, tennis bracelets and tennis necklaces — the staples of every jewelry wardrobe today. Moms are layering and stacking their metals and customizing them with charms. 'The London Collection has something for everyone, from an adorable newborn and a sporty teen to a glam grandma. We have a wide array of fashion and classic jewelry for self-wearing and gifting.'

Brilliantly hued gemstone rings, necklaces and earrings make unique and eye-catching additions. 'People often tend to overlook color, like jewelry set with rubies, emeralds, sapphires, tourmalines. If you have a favorite color, like pink, green, turquoise or yellow, we have a multitude of options in our collections.'
Retro designs are increasingly trendy. 'Vintage has become very popular and it is something that we are definitely getting into,' says Udell. 'We're looking forward to heading into it with a purpose.'
Speaking of bold and bright: Last year London added Verdura to its mix. 'They have a wonderful history, like all our other brands, and design for royalty and movie stars alike. Coco Chanel was often the muse, and the Maltese Cross cuff was created for her.'
Sounds like a future family heirloom.

In-N-Out billionaire Lynsi Snyder says she is leaving California: 'Doing business is not easy here'

In-N-Out's billionaire owner, Lynsi Snyder, is done with California. Speaking on the "Relatable" podcast released Friday, Snyder said she's moving to Tennessee as the cult burger chain plans its southeastern expansion and establishes a new headquarters in the suburbs outside Nashville. "There's a lot of great things about California, but raising a family is not easy here. Doing business is not easy here," Snyder said. During the conversation with host Allie Beth Stuckey, Snyder cited COVID-era business restrictions, such as mask mandates and vaccine requirements, as particular elements of California policy that made it difficult to operate in the state. In 2021, health officials temporarily shut down several In-N-Out locations in California because the chain refused to require proof of COVID-19 vaccinations. Snyder didn't expand upon her current business challenges or the challenges she's faced raising her four children in the state. In-N-Out is consolidating its corporate presence in California, centralizing its West Coast operations out of offices in Baldwin Park, where the chain was founded by Snyder's grandparents, and phasing out its Irvine headquarters by 2030. Its new Franklin, Tennessee headquarters is set to open in 2026. "Now the bulk of our stores are still going to be here in California, but it will be wonderful having an office out there, growing out there, and being able to have the family and other people's families out there," Snyder said. While the chain is planning to expand in the Southeast with its operations in Tennessee, Snyder said she's "still saying no" to opening locations in Florida and other East Coast states. In-N-Out has over 400 locations across eight states: California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Colorado, and Idaho. Snyder said that the company will continue to grow, but she's prioritizing sustainable expansion that maintains the quality of its products and service. "Number one priority is really keeping the company the same company that my grandparents started," Snyder said. "We don't want to be in every state, and we don't want to ever compromise our values and standards and the cornerstones that my grandparents laid down, so it's really just keeping those priorities at the forefront when we make decisions."

Why Australian Landlords Should Hedge Rental Income with Bitcoin in 2025

As inflation steadily erodes the value of the Australian dollar, many landlords are beginning to explore alternative ways to protect their hard-earned rental income. One of the most promising and future-forward strategies emerging in 2025 is converting a portion of rental income into Bitcoin. But why now, and how exactly does this strategy work for Australian landlords? The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) has printed significant amounts of fiat currency over the past decade, especially during COVID stimulus cycles. Combined with global inflationary pressures and rising national debt, the purchasing power of the Australian dollar (AUD) is on a steady decline. According to the RBA's inflation data, Australia's average inflation rate between 2022 and 2024 hovered around 5–6% annually, meaning AUD-denominated savings lost real-world value every year. This has created an increasingly urgent need for inflation-resistant stores of value—especially for income that's designed to be long-term, like rental earnings. Bitcoin (BTC), with its fixed supply of 21 million coins, decentralized structure, and growing global adoption, offers an increasingly credible alternative to fiat currencies. Often referred to as 'digital gold', Bitcoin has outperformed nearly every traditional asset class over the past decade. For landlords, Bitcoin offers: Scarcity-backed value (only 21 million BTC) Borderless liquidity and international recognition Inflation resistance over long holding periods Platforms like Bitcoin Landlords now make it practical, secure, and hands-off for property owners to convert a portion of their rent into Bitcoin each month—without needing crypto knowledge or exchange accounts. Bitcoin Landlords is a first-of-its-kind service built specifically for Australian landlords. It allows you to automatically convert rent (weekly, fortnightly, or monthly) into Bitcoin and have it delivered directly to your non-custodial wallet—all without touching a crypto exchange. Here's how it works Collect rent from tenants as usual. Nominate a portion (e.g. 10%, 25%, 50%) to be converted into Bitcoin. Bitcoin Landlords handles OTC conversion at low fees (0.16–0.32%) and sends BTC directly to your wallet. ➡️ See full steps: How It Works Traditional real estate is known for slow but stable capital appreciation, whereas Bitcoin offers high-risk, high-return potential over the long term. By allocating just a small percentage of rental income into BTC each month, landlords gain diversified exposure to digital assets—without compromising their core property business. This combo can Reduce dependence on fiat returns Offset inflationary pressures Offer asymmetric upside in a maturing asset class Bitcoin Landlords is non-custodial, meaning you hold the private keys to your Bitcoin. It's also built with Australian tax and compliance considerations in mind. Every client receives Personal onboarding session Bitcoin wallet setup (hardware or exchange) Rent-to-BTC tracking dashboard Education on tax, wallet storage, and best practices ➡️ See full breakdown: Homepage Several tailwinds make 2025 a perfect time to get started: Growing Bitcoin ETF adoption (globally and in Asia-Pacific) Australia's improving crypto regulation framework Weakening fiat returns in real estate rental markets Rising landlord awareness of wealth preservation tools Getting in now lets you accumulate Bitcoin gradually and securely, before wider adoption makes competition fiercer and onboarding costs rise. 1. How does Bitcoin Landlords help hedge against inflation? By converting part of your rent into Bitcoin, you store value in a deflationary, scarce asset instead of AUD, which continues to lose purchasing power due to inflation. 2. Is this suitable for new Bitcoin users? Yes. Bitcoin Landlords provides full support, including wallet setup, education, and step-by-step onboarding. 3. Can I control how much rent is converted into Bitcoin? Absolutely. You can set any amount—weekly, fortnightly, or monthly—and adjust it anytime. 4. Do I need to change my rent collection method? No. You continue collecting rent as usual. Bitcoin Landlords fits around your existing process. 5. Are there tax considerations in Australia? Yes, capital gains tax (CGT) may apply when Bitcoin is sold. We provide awareness but recommend consulting a tax professional. See ATO crypto tax guide. Landlords across Australia are waking up to the real cost of inflation. Instead of watching rental income sit idle in depreciating fiat, services like Bitcoin Landlords offer a smarter way to diversify into Bitcoin—passively, securely, and with full control. What if the Fed cut rates to just 1% like Trump wants? An analyst says it's ‘ludicrous' and may scare businesses

The federal funds rate currently sits at 4.25%-4.50%, but President Donald Trump has said it should go down to just 1%. A rate that low would boost inflation expectations and send long-term Treasury yields higher, but also send a signal that something extreme may be developing in the economy, according to a Wall Street analyst. Amid the White House's unrelenting pressure campaign on Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, President Donald Trump has not only demanded that the central bank to cut rates but to lower them all the way to 1%. The federal funds rate currently sits at 4.25%-4.50%, meaning a reduction of that magnitude would require a drastic move that goes well beyond the Fed's typical increments of a quarter point at a time (though it last cut by half a point in September). It's so extreme, Wall Street doubts it would actually happen, as it would trigger immense turmoil in financial markets and the economy. 'I don't think this needs to be taken too seriously, because it's so ludicrous, and in some ways cutting rates too low, too prematurely, too early would do exactly what you don't want to happen,' Jeffrey Roach, chief economist at LPL Financial, told Fortune. That's because long-term Treasury yields would spike as bond investors price in higher expectations for inflation that a 1% rate would stoke, raising borrowing costs for consumers and businesses. In addition, a rate that low is usually associated with an economic emergency like the COVID-19 pandemic or the Great Financial Crisis. So 1% may actually shock businesses into wondering if another calamity is lurking around the corner, prompting them to hunker down and wait rather than expand, Roach warned. 'As a big business owner looking at rates at 1% or 2%, I'm definitely saying, 'what do you know that I don't?'' he said. 'Hence I'm not going to respond by increasing capex and increasing operations to the company. I'm going to be even more concerned with what that signals.' A White House spokesman pointed to Trump's previous comments that the Fed always can and should raise rates again if inflation spikes after cutting them. For his part, Roach thinks there's probably room for rates to eventually drop to about 3.5% by the end of 2026, if inflation stays under control, and said Powell didn't raise rates soon enough when inflation was surged after the pandemic. Similarly, Infrastructure Capital Advisors CEO Jay Hatfield accused Powell of gross incompetence by being too late to raise rates but also blasted the idea of the Fed slashing rates to 1%. Treasury yields would initially drop in the immediate aftermath of a cut to 1%. But once inflation indicators start pointing higher, the fed funds rate would go back up to 4% to shrink the money supply, sending the 10-year yield to about 5%. After a mini-recession or a big pullback, the yield would end up around 3.75%. 'So it's horrible economic policy to do that,' he told Fortune. A fed funds rate around 2.75%-3% wouldn't stoke inflation or send the economy into a downturn, but keeping rates where they are now would trigger a recession, Hatfield added. A 1% rate, however, would require a massive expansion in the money supply. 'It's absolutely a ridiculous idea and will cause double-digit inflation,' he warned.
