Ladakh Scouts regiment inducts 194 Agniveers in Leh

A passing out parade was held at the Ladakh Scouts Regimental Centre in Leh on Thursday to mark the entry of 194 well-trained Agniveer recruits into the Ladakh Scouts Regiment as Agniveer soldiers.
The ceremony conducted in consonance with the highest traditions of the Army and was reviewed by Major General Gurpal Singh, YSM, SM, GOC Uniform Force as the chief guest and was attended by a spectrum of military, civil dignitaries and parents of Agniveers.
The young Agniveers, hailing from all regions of Ladakh, participated in the parade and are now ready to serve for the supreme cause of the nation.
The reviewing officer congratulated the Agniveers for the parade and urged them to devote their life in service to the nation as proud soldiers of the Army. He also congratulated the proud parents for having motivated their wards to join the regiment and complemented the Ladakh Scouts personnel for their outstanding performance in all spheres and their exceptional valour and contributions. He exhorted the young soldiers to continue to strive hard in pursuit of excellence in all spheres and take a solemn vow to defend the sovereignty of the Nation against all odds in the true spirit signified by the ethos of the Army.
The young Agniveers were awarded medals for their outstanding performance during the training. Gaurav Padak was also presented to the parents who are either serving or have served in the Army and whose wards joined the Regiment as Agniveers.

The Army Recruitment Office (ARO) in Amethi will conduct the recruitment rally for Agniveers at the Dogra Regimental Centre Ground in Ayodhya Cantt from August 5 to 18. A total of 11,972 candidates who qualified the online Common Entrance Exam (CEE), held between June 30 and July 10, have been shortlisted for participation. Admit cards were issued to these candidates on July 28 via their registered emails, according to a government press release. The recruitment drive aims to fill vacancies in various categories, including Agniveer general duty (GD), Agniveer technical, clerk/SKT, tradesman (8th & 10th pass), sepoy nursing assistant, nursing assistant veterinary and sepoy pharma, the release said. According to officials, candidates attending the rally are required to arrive with their original admit cards and all required documents as specified. They should also prepare adequately for the physical and other selection tests as mentioned in the official rally notification. Officials emphasised that the recruitment process is fair and transparent, urging candidates not to fall prey to touts or use unfair means. Emergency drills to be held at 90 locations in Delhi-NCR today

Disaster response drills will be conducted at 90 locations in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR), including markets, schools, and hospitals, on Friday, said a senior official of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), which is supervising the operation named 'Exercise Suraksha Chakra'. The exercise, which will be one of the biggest multi-State, multi-agency operations in the NCR, aims to strengthen coordination and response mechanisms for major disasters such as earthquakes and industrial chemical hazards, the official added. The drills will be conducted simultaneously across 18 districts in the NCR — 11 in Delhi, five in Haryana (Gurugram, Faridabad, Palwal, Nuh and Rewari) and two in Uttar Pradesh (Gautam Buddha Nagar and Ghaziabad). In each district, the drills will be held at five locations. The Army, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), civil defence volunteers and institutions such as the India Meteorological Department will be deployed at various locations during the drills, the official added. Sirens to go off 'Sirens will be sounded at 0903 hours, initiating the drill, followed by immediate evacuation procedures,' read a note shared by the NDMA. The note added that the exercise will feature live simulations at a school, government office, residential area, hospital, and industrial area in each district. 'Don't panic' It advised residents not to panic as they may witness an increased movement of emergency vehicles such as ambulances, fire tenders, police vehicles, and Army trucks on the roads. The NDMA official said, 'Response teams will conduct search and rescue drills, casualty evacuation, and provide medical aid to the 'victims'.'

Indian Army celebrates 284th anniversary of Battle of Colachel

The Indian Army celebrated the 284th anniversary of the Battle of Colachel on Thursday. The Madras Regiment of the Army held a function at the Colachel War Memorial in Kanyakumari district to mark the occasion. The Colachel Day is celebrated every year to commemorate the victory of the Travancore forces led by Marthanda Varma over the Dutch in the Battle of Colachel on July 31, 1741. Marthanda Varma had installed a victory pillar near the Colachel beach to mark his victory. Colonel Avinash Kumar Singh, Commanding Officer, 2nd Battalion, Madras Regiment, Pangode Military Station, was chief guest at Thursday's event. Colonel Singh and other dignitaries laid wreaths at the war memorial.
