PBS Deputy Chief denies bribery allegations, mulls legal action against Malaysiakini

Published on: Monday, June 30, 2025 Published on: Mon, Jun 30, 2025 Text Size: KOTA KINABALU: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Deputy President Datuk Sri Panglima Jahid Jahim has denied allegations published by Malaysiakini accusing him of receiving RM150,000 in bribes linked to a mining scandal. Describing the report as baseless, Jahid clarified that his ministry is not involved in mining license approvals and no such licenses have been issued in his Tamparuli constituency. He criticised the media outlet for allegedly creating a false corruption narrative without due process, echoing similar concerns raised by STAR President Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan. Jahid said the tactic mirrors past attempts to destabilise the state government ahead of elections, and confirmed he is seeking legal advice and reserves the right to take action against Malaysiakini and its authors. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news? Call for polytechnic branch in Kota Marudu for Northern Sabah youths

Published on: Monday, June 30, 2025 Published on: Mon, Jun 30, 2025 Text Size: KOTA KINABALU: The Federal Government has been urged to establish a Polytechnic branch in Kota Marudu to cater to students and youth in northern Sabah. Former Kota Marudu Assistant District Education Officer, Jimson Majemal, said the town's central location among districts like Kota Belud, Kudat, Pitas, Sandakan, Beluran, and Ranau makes it ideal for such an institution. 'Kota Marudu deserves a polytechnic due to its strategic position and ongoing development,' said Jimson, who is also Acting President of Kota Marudu SAFA. He added that the Madani government must be responsive to rural youth needs, citing the presence of other institutions such as UMS in Sandakan, UiTM in Tawau, and IPG in Keningau as examples of balanced regional development. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news?
