Who is Mikey Moore? Here are 12 quotes about Rangers new 'wonderkid' from ex-coaches and teammates

Rangers head coach Russell Martin has confirmed his eighth new signing of the summer, with the loan capture of talented Tottenham Hotspur teenager Mikey Moore. The 17-year-old has been dubbed as a 'wonderkid', with a number of former managers, teammates and academy coaches hailing his as one of Britain's most exciting young talents. The starlet, who turns 18 next month, played under ex-Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou last season, scoring his first senior goal in a 3-0 win over Elfsborg on the way to his team's Europa League success. Officially the youngest player to play for Spurs in the English Premier League, he made his league debut against Manchester City in May 2024 at the age of 16 years and 277 days, and has excited Spurs fans with his enormous potential ever since. But what can he bring to Rangers during his season-long stay on loan? Here, The Scotsman looks through 12 of the best quotes from former managers, coach and his current Spurs teammates about Rangers' exciting new signing. 1 . Ange Postecoglou (his former manager at Spurs) "His ability to just deal with pressure and keep the ball in really tight areas and make really good clean decisions for such a young boy. It's not easy out there when defenders fly in. Mikey has been fantastic since we brought him in. He's earned his spot on the roster at the moment — he did at the end of last year." | AFP via Getty Images Photo Sales 2 . Ledley King (Spurs legend) "Mikey's got all the attributes to be a top, top player. His balance, his ability to go either way, and his composure in front of goal – it's exciting to see someone so young with that much quality." | Getty Images Photo Sales 3 . Son Heung-min (Spurs captain) "Mikey is coming to me and asking questions... He's a fantastic boy and then I am definitely sure that he can be a fantastic player. There is no doubt, because he has such amazing quality.' | AFP via Getty Images Photo Sales 4 . Alan Hutton (Former Rangers and Spurs full-back) "Mikey Moore is a special talent. His pace and directness are exactly what Rangers need. He's got that ability to unlock defences, and at 17, he's already showing he can handle senior football. He's a real coup for Rangers." | AFP via Getty Images Photo Sales

Rangers hero Ally McCoist ‘is on EVERYTHING' says sports hero as he calls for rebate on TV licence

JOHN PARROTT used to share a primetime TV slot with Ally McCoist as an opposing team captain on Question of Sport. But now the Liverpudlian former world snooker champ turned snooker pundit gazes at McCoist's media empire and marvels. 2 John Parrott couldn't resist a light-hearted barb at his old Question of Sport pal Credit: Getty 2 Ally McCoist commentates on the Champions League final for TNT Credit: Getty The Rangers icon might be on a well-earned holiday right now, but he's one of the hardest working men in the business, regularly working at three or four matches a week across Europe - in addition to hosting a daily national breakfast show for TalkSPORT. And it was with that in mind that his old Question of Sport pal Parrott couldn't resist a light-hearted dig in the Gers hero's direction. He was making an appearance on the TalkSPORT breakfast show, usually hosted by McCoist but this time with Alan Brazil and Gabby Agbonlahor on comms. He said: "Can I get a rebate on my TV licence, because my Scottish mate is on everything. "He's going to be doing the Shipping Forecast next." One of McCoist's former managers, meanwhile, has been explaining why he DENIED the Rangers hero an emotional Ibrox swansong when manager of Kilmarnock. Bobby Williamson was Killie boss back in 2001 when he kept McCoist on the bench during a 5-1 defeat at Ibrox in his final season as a professional. In an interview with the Let Me Be Frank podcast, Williamson said: "It was a very unique occasion. "I don't think it'd happened before and I don't think it'll happen again, where an opposition are singing for a player to come on. "We were getting battered, Rangers played really well that day and we've not really performed. Ally McCoist confesses to 'horrendous' epic fail ahead of final day of Rangers legend's charity bike ride "[The Rangers fans] started to chant McCoist's name. If they hadn't done that, I might've put him on. "But because they were chanting, and I've got 200 Kilmanrock fans over there, who've paid good money to come up from Ayrshire, and I'm thinking if I put him on then I'm going to get dog's abuse for kowtowing to Rangers. He added: "I sympathised with the Rangers fans. I used to be one. "I knew how they were feeling, they wanted to see Ally. "But I said to myself, they'll have other occasions to do that. These Old Firm games, they'll see him again, and then he went back as a manager. "But I would've got slaughtered off my own fans. I've got to think about them." But she was still in good spirits after getting her first outing. Speaking after the race, Lois said: "It was over so quickly and such a thrill. "The horse was incredible and put up such a fight against strong opposition. I had to push from the third furlong because they set off so quickly. "I have got more of an edge for winning now and am not so scared of speed. It was really good fun." While mum Gabby added: "It's harder to watch than rugby, which is so long – and you have so many more chances to make an impact. It is over so quick and like being a sprinter. "All those 4.40am starts and the months of physical training have been worth it. 6 Lois was delighted to make her debut Credit: PA CASINO SPECIAL - BEST CASINO BONUSES FROM £10 DEPOSITS "Since she broke up from university, she has been going down to Andrew Balding's stable at Kingsclere four times a week. Rangers hero Ally McCoist lands massive double bed and tells roommate 'it'll be interesting when Gabby Logan gets here' "She has loved it. She will definitely go down again if they need her to ride out." It's no surprise that Lois is making a splash in horseracing, with sport running in her blood. Mum Gabby was a rhythmic gymnast in her youth, competing at the Commonwealth Games for Wales in 1990 as a 17-year-old. And Dad Kenny is a 70-time Scotland rugby international, representing his nation at the World Cup and playing professional rugby for the London Wasps too. Even Gabby and Kenny's son Reuben is leaving his mark on rugby, signing a professional contract with Northampton Saints.
