UM6P Inaugurates Presence at STATION F, Launches NextAfrica Program
NextAfrica is the first transcontinental Europe-Africa acceleration program dedicated to Greentech, Agritech, and Healthtech. It offers a hybrid approach combining immersion at STATION F with access to UM6P's infrastructure in Morocco, allowing startups to develop, test, and structure their innovations.
'NextAfrica reflects our ambition to create an ecosystem where African and European startups collaborate, innovate, and grow together,' said Fahd Benkirane, Managing Director at UM6P France.
'Through our presence at STATION F and UM6P's strong foothold in Africa, we offer entrepreneurs a unique framework to accelerate their development and address tomorrow's technological and societal challenges,' he added in a press release.
The inauguration, themed 'Innovating Together: A Bridge Between Europe and Africa to Shape the Future,' underlines UM6P's vision of building an intercontinental ecosystem that drives the emergence of groundbreaking solutions.
Over a six-month period, selected startups will benefit from STATION F's cutting-edge entrepreneurial environment while gaining access to UM6P's advanced technological infrastructure through StartGate, its startup-dedicated campus.
Participants will also receive mentorship from African and European experts and strategic connections to investors and industrial partners.
As part of this initiative, UM6P Ventures will also establish a presence at STATION F to enhance funding opportunities for startups and foster synergies between European and African venture capital ecosystems.

'By alternating between STATION F and StartGate, startups will experience a dual immersion — gaining exposure to the European market while staying anchored in an African innovation hub,' explained Yassine Laghzioui, Director of Entrepreneurship & Venturing at UM6P and CEO of UM6P Ventures.
'This initiative reflects UM6P's vision: to connect talent, infrastructure, and capital in order to nurture the next generation of African tech scale-ups,' he continued.
The event introduced the first NextAfrica cohort, featuring twelve promising startups from both continents across two key sectors: HealthTech — represented by Pelican Health, SenseBiotek, VG2D Pharma, Inn'Pulse, NeuralTeks, BlocReg Solutions, iAvicenne, and Rosetta Omics — and AgriTech, represented by Sand to Green, ISTYA, AgroSfer, and IrWise.
This inauguration builds on the partnership announced on January 29, when UM6P and STATION F first revealed their collaboration to promote innovation while bridging Europe and Africa.
At that time, UM6P President Hicham El Habti stated that the alliance would provide startups with tools to 'tackle Africa's technological, economic, and environmental challenges while strengthening this bridge between the two continents.'
STATION F, located in Paris's 13th district, opened in 2017 and is housed in a former rail freight depot spanning 34,000 square meters.

His Majesty King Mohammed VI has led Morocco's democratic and economic development with wisdom, making the Kingdom "a leading country" on the African continent, according to Lord Henry Bellingham, former UK Foreign Office Minister for Africa. This is largely due to the path laid out by HM King Mohammed VI," he added, noting that the two Kingdoms share many common features, including privileged relations with the world's major economies. Numerous sectors are open to strategic high-level partnership between the two nations, Lord Bellingham continued, underscoring the significance of the decision by Rabat and London to strengthen their bilateral ties. He also emphasized the cultural dimension of UK-Morocco relations, which adds further depth to the historic bonds that date back over 800 years. The former minister welcomed the recent decision by the United Kingdom to support the autonomy plan presented by Morocco to definitively resolve the regional conflict surrounding its territorial integrity. Support for the autonomy plan "is both an important and decisive decision," said Lord Bellingham, who also served as Minister of State at the Foreign Office responsible for Asia-Pacific. By viewing the autonomy plan as "the most credible, viable, and pragmatic basis" for resolving the Sahara issue, the UK is aligning itself with key allies that support Morocco's territorial integrity, including the United States, France, and Spain, he affirmed. "It is equally important to recall that several African countries have opened consulates in the cities of Laâyoune and Dakhla," Lord Bellingham observed. In his opinion, the opponents of Morocco's territorial integrity must face the facts and recognize the geopolitical shift in favor of the recognition of Morocco's sovereignty over its Sahara. Lord Bellingham, a member of the UK House of Lords, also praised the Atlantic Initiative launched by His Majesty the King, which aims to offer Sahel countries access to the Atlantic Ocean. This initiative will undoubtedly contribute to peace and stability in the region while paving the way for economic development and improved livelihoods, he said. Morocco Tops North Africa in Economic Freedom, Ranks 101st Globally
Rabat – Morocco continues to position itself as a key player in Africa's economic landscape, topping North Africa in economic freedom despite lingering structural challenges. According to the 2025 Nomad Capitalist Freedom Index , Morocco ranks 101st out of 196 countries, with a balanced yet partial score reflecting its progress and room for improvement. The index, compiled by the tax and migration advisory firm Nomad Capitalist, evaluates countries based on five pillars: financial freedom (30% of the score), asset protection (25%), human rights (20%), safety (15%), and quality of life (10%). Morocco achieved a 30/50 score overall, with consistent ratings across each category. Morocco's economic environment benefits from a clear legal framework that supports entrepreneurship. Article 35 of the Moroccan Constitution guarantees the freedom to do business and fair competition, while laws such as Law 104-12 on Competition aim to ensure market transparency and prevent monopolistic practices. The country's growing digitalization has made it easier to start a business, reducing bureaucratic hurdles. Targeted tax incentives also make Morocco attractive to foreign investors. Its stable monetary policy, controlled inflation, and strong international trade networks provide a favorable setting for entrepreneurs and investors alike. However, the road to greater economic freedom is not without obstacles. Strengthening the rule of law, improving property rights protection, and enhancing the business climate further could propel Morocco higher in future rankings. For now, the county demonstrates both ambition and progress.
