What is Subway's new footlong? Where to find new menu item in Michigan
The sub sandwich chain and flavored-tortilla chips brand are selling the Doritos Footlong Nachos this spring and there will be a chance to get them free, Subway announced Thursday.
"Subway's newest partnership takes everything our fans love about Subway sandwiches – from quality veggies, proteins and tasty toppings – to the next level with the cheesy flavor and iconic crunch of Doritos," Paul Fabre, senior vice president, culinary and innovation at Subway, said in a news release Thursday.

Subway is selling a new Doritos Footlong Nachos at restaurants in Michigan for $5, though prices may vary.
"We're proud to team up with Subway to bring a bold take on the classic nachos experience by combining the bold cheesy crunch of Doritos Nacho Cheese chips and Subway's freshly prepared ingredients," said Scott Finlow, chief marketing officer, PepsiCo Away From Home.

The nachos are prepared to order and feature classic Doritos Nacho Cheese flavored chips, cheddar cheese sauce and shredded Monterey cheddar cheese, and topped with spicy jalapeño slices, diced tomatoes and red onions, and finished with a zesty Baja Chipotle sauce.
Customers can also add rotisserie-style chicken or steak at no extra cost, as well as a scoop of smashed avocado for an extra charge.
The Doritos Footlong Nachos is available in Michigan now for a limited time while supplies last.
Subway will soon offer MVP Rewards members one free Doritos Footlong Nachos with the purchase of any footlong sub to celebrate the new item.

To redeem the offer, customers must make the purchase in the Subway app, on the Subway website or in-restaurant using the phone number associated with your rewards account.
The offer will be available Thursday, April 10.

The diner chain announced on July 1 that its dropping an egg surcharge put in place four months ago, signaling a decline in egg prices from the all-time highs seen earlier this year. "Egg-cellent news…as of June 2, the egg surcharge is officially off the menu," said the post. "Thanks for understanding!" USA TODAY reached out to Waffle House to confirm the change. Why was Waffle House charging extra for eggs? A 50-cent per egg surcharge was implemented at Waffle House's roughly 2,100 locations across the U.S. in early February to offset higher-than-usual prices resulting from a "continuing egg shortage caused by HPAI (Bird Flu)," the company said at the time. Waffle House serves around 272 million eggs per year, according to its website, well surpassing even its titular waffles, of which it sells just 124 million. The temporary charge was employed to avoid increasing prices across other menu items, it said. Are egg prices are down? Egg prices reached a high of roughly $6.22 per dozen on average in March, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The stage for this uptick was set when the current bird flu outbreak began in the U.S. in 2022 and the highly pathogenic avian influenza, or bird flu, killed off egg-laying poultry en masse, leaving fewer chickens behind to maintain the supply. By Feb. 3, when Waffle House implemented its surcharge, the virus had infected roughly 150 million poultry across all 50 states since January 2022, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Because of the spread, infected birds have been selectively slaughtered across the U.S., including sometimes millions of birds at a single location. Why are egg prices falling? Here's what we know. Egg prices have begun to ease from the highs earlier this year, but their overall prices are still 40% higher than last year, according to the May Consumer Price Index. "Families are seeing relief with egg prices driving food deflation," U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke L. Rollins said in a June 26 statement about the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) response to bird flu. "While we are proud that over 900 biosecurity assessments have been conducted to date, resources remain available, and we are urging poultry farmers of all sizes to get your assessments done today before a potentially challenging fall.' Subway has hired a former Burger King executive as its new CEO. The Miami-based sandwich chain said Monday that Jonathan Fitzpatrick will join the company on July 28. Fitzpatrick is the first CEO hired since Subway was bought by the private equity firm Roark Capital in 2024. And Roark didn't have to look far to find him. Since 2012, Fitzpatrick has been the president and CEO of Driven Brands, which is also owned by Roark. Driven Brands is the parent company of auto service brands like Meineke Car Care Centers and Maaco. Before joining Driven Brands, Fitzpatrick held multiple senior leadership positions at Burger King, including executive vice president. Subway was founded in 1965 and was still owned by its founding families when it was purchased by Roark. It's one of the world's largest restaurant chains, with nearly 37,000 outlets in more than 100 countries. But in recent years, Subway has been losing sales to fast-growing rivals like Jersey Mike's and Firehouse Subs. The company tried to catch up. In 2022, it announced a line of chef-developed sandwiches after finding that customers were tiring of Subway's traditional model of letting customers build their own subs. When Roark bought Subway, it said it planned to continue to modernize restaurants and expand internationally. It left in place Subway's CEO John Chidsey, who was the first nonfamily member to lead Subway when he joined the company in 2019. But Chidsey retired late last year.
