Human survival depends on trees: Minister Savita
Minister Savita planted saplings here and led locals in a pledge to commit to environmental protection and increasing greenery. She highlighted that environmental protection must start from every home. She called upon everyone to avoid plastic use and plant trees, emphasizing that human survival is only possible with green trees.
She stated that the coalition government has decided to prioritize the creation of Green Andhra Pradesh and environmental protection by significantly increasing green cover in the state. She mentioned that development is progressing rapidly in the state, with work on the capital Amaravati and the Polavaram project already underway. Simultaneously, high priority is being given to increasing green cover.
Minister Savita warned that strict action will be taken against those who remove trees along roadsides and canal banks. She emphasized that tree planting is everyone's responsibility and called upon everyone to come forward to plant trees in front of every house and for auspicious occasions.
Savita highlighted that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan are giving high priority to tree planting, which provides oxygen to humans and maintains environmental balance. In contrast, she criticised former CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, stating that he acted in opposition to this. She expressed anger, alleging that Jagan, when traveling by air outside his palace, had ordered the removal of trees along roads.
Earlier, coalition leaders and workers accorded a grand welcome to Minister Savita upon her arrival in Poranki for the Vana Mahotsavam. Corporation chairmen Veeranki Gurumurthy and Eshwar, along with several TDP leaders, participated in the programme.

Japan's defence ministry said that Chinese JH-7 fighter plane flew as close as 30 metres to its YS-11EB electronic-intelligence aircraft on Wednesday and Thursday in the international airspace above the East China Sea. It said that no damage was reported in the episode. This was the latest episode in China's aggressive military posturing where its warships and warplanes regularly harass ships and aircraft of other countries in the region. China has territorial disputes with nearly every neighbour and uses such harassment to build pressure on them and assert its expansionist tendencies. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD While China did not respond to Japan's claim, it had previously said that Japan flew very close to its aircraft for espionage purposes. After the latest episode, Japanese foreign ministry said on late Thursday that vice minister Takehiro Funakoshi expressed 'serious concern' to Chinese Ambassador to Japan Wu Jianghao and strongly requested China to stop the activity that could 'provoke accidental collisions' and strongly urged China to ensure that similar actions are not repeated, according to the Associated Press. Last month, Japan had similarly said that a Chinese warplane flew dangerously close to its P-3C surveillance aircraft over the Pacific Ocean. The two countries aircraft carriers were operating together in the area at the time for the first time. Such Chinese aggression has continued despite the two countries warming up economically in the midst of US President Donald Trump's global tariff war. The two countries have reached an agreement for the resumption of the export of Japanese beef to China that had been banned since 2001. In another indication of the two sides warming up, China has also partially relaxed a ban on the export of Japan's seafood to China. However, China has often ramped up aggression in one domain while it negotiates in the other. For example, China recently halted the export of speciality fertilisers to India and also refused to issue licences for the supply of rare earths to India even as it opened the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra and has reached a partial understanding with India over the Ladakh standoff.

Congress asks BJP to get the BC reservations approved by PM
Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar urged the BJP leadership to rise above politics and support the Congress government's historic decision to implement 42% reservations for Backward Classes (BCs) in local body elections. 'BJP leaders should take this up with the Prime Minister and ensure its approval,' Mr. Prabhakar said speaking to the media along with Government Advisor K. Kesava Rao, Animal Husbandary Minister Vakiti Srihari, MLA Veerlapalli Shankar, and Fisheries Corporation Chairman Mettu Saikumar at Gandhi Bhavan on Friday. Mr. Prabhakar reminded that Congress leaders led by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy went to New Delhi and submitted requests to the Union Government to accept the Telangana government's move. He also criticised the BJP's double standards on BC issues, saying, 'They promised the CM post to a BC but removed BC leader Bandi Sanjay as the State BJP chief at a crucial time. Another BC leader Raja Singh resigned. Four BC MPs were ignored for the appointment of State BJP chief leading to its sincerity on promoting BC leadership.' Advisor to Government and former MP K. Kesava Rao, who joined the Congress from the BRS, asked the BJP and BRS not to dilute a historic decision with political motives. He said it was a 45-year struggle that finally took shape because of the Congress. 'If you oppose 42% reservations for BCs, you'll face the backlash from the very people you claim to represent,' he told the opposition parties. 'In the Congress, even though the CM is from the Reddy community, weaker section leaders are empowered. Only Congress can ensure true social justice,' he said. Mr. Vakiti Srihari said all the BC castes should form a Joint Action Committee (JAC) to support the Congress like the JACs did during the Telangana movement. 'We urge all BC leaders and weaker section groups in the Congress to come together,' he said. The Congress leaders said the party has consistently moved toward empowering backward communities. 'From the Kamareddy Declaration to the recent Cabinet decision, the Congress has never backed down,' they said. 'It was the idea of Rahul Gandhi, executed by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and PCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud,' they added.

BJP welcomes ordinance on quota for BCs
The BJP on Friday welcomed the government's decision to promulgate an ordinance for 42% reservations to the Backward Classes (BCs) in the local body polls. At a press conference at the State office, general secretary K. Venkateshwarlu urged the government to expedite the matter without any further delay and also ensure there are no legal complications. As directed by the High Court, the polls should be held before September end and the onus is upon the government to see that every local body goes to the polls without any exception. The BJP leader reminded the party's stand that the BC quota issue is within the domain of the State government and the Centre had nothing to do with it. The Congress government too seemed to have accepted the same and decided to go for an ordinance even if belatedly or it would have to face the wrath of the BCs, he said.
