The getaway in Scotland's 'most underrated city' you can book for half price
A holiday in Scotland's "most underrated" city is now available for half price. One recent guest described the accommodation as "comfortable and clean".
The Holiday Inn Express Aberdeen City Centre is situated in the heart of Aberdeen. The venue features 155 guest rooms and a restaurant that serves up breakfast and dinner.
As reported by the Daily Record, Aberdeen was previously named one of the top underrated cities in the world. In the study, it placed alongside renowned cities such as Montreal and Rio.
Currently, a one-night stay at the Holiday Inn Express Aberdeen City Centre can be booked for £69 through voucher website Wowcher —a 50 per cent discount from the usual cost of £139. Two nights can also be booked for £139, which is a discount of 43 per cent from the standard price of £243.
Guests at the hotel can choose from either a double or twin room. All of the guest rooms come with an en-suite bathroom, a TV, tea and coffee making facilities, and a work desk with a lamp.
Also included with the Wowcher deal is a "hearty full Scottish breakfast" and a late 12pm checkout. Guests can also enjoy free Wi-Fi access.
According to Wowcher, visitors to Aberdeen can browse the shops on Union Street before heading to the picturesque Aberdeen Beach. Other highlights of the city include the Girdle Ness Lighthouse, Aberdeen Harbour, and the Aberdeen Maritime Museum.
If the Holiday Inn Express Aberdeen City Centre does not appeal, there are plenty of more upmarket hotels in the city to choose from. These include the four-star Malmaison Aberdeen and the five-star Marcliffe.
Meanwhile, the Holiday Inn Express Aberdeen City Centre has earned mostly positive feedback from visitors. On Tripadvisor, the accommodation has an overall rating of 3.7 out of five based on 1,052 reviews.
One guest posted: "We were welcomed at check in by a friendly receptionist. The bedroom was situated at the back of the hotel and it was very quiet.
"The room was very clean and had a lovely comfy bed. We slept well at the end of our long days.
"Every morning we went down for breakfast. It was plentiful, good choices and replenished frequently."
A more mixed review reads: "The rooms are basic (borderline unguarded). Bathroom with shower without bidet, but this would be true even if you choose much more expensive hotels.
"Soaps and shampoos in dispensers (but not of the same quality as other Holiday Inn Express in Scotland, such as Edinburgh, Perth and Inverness). Really small double bed. Breakfast sufficiently assorted and with good quality products. If you use the hotel for dinner, however, the menu is very poor."
Another happy guest shared: "Comfortable and clean, wonderful free breakfast buffet. Really appreciated the portable fan provided.
"Parking was a trick, but we were able to park on the street."
More details about the Holiday Inn Express Aberdeen City Centre deal can be found on the Wowcher website.
