Putting Everyone to Work; Zayed Higher Organization Unveils Bee Café

UAE's First Coffee Shops Staffed by Certified Uniquely Abled Workers
ABU DHABI, UAE / ACCESS Newswire / July 11, 2025 / Zayed Higher Organization today announces the launch of its Bee Cafe, the first cafe brand of its kind in the United Arab Emirates to be operated by uniquely abled people internationally certified as baristas. Designed as a vocational training program and long-term employment solution that provides financial independence for its workers, it also expects a positive business return, proving that everyone wins when everyone works.
Today's announcement celebrates three openings of Bee Cafe locations throughout Abu Dhabi. Located at ZHO's headquarters, at the Emirates Red Crescent Authority and The Innovation Center events complex, the decor represents a place for strong social connectivity, productivity and belonging. Each location serves specialty coffee and a selection of pastries.
The Bee Cafe is a non-profit venture of Zayed Higher Organization (ZHO), with all revenue reinvested into the programming to support uniquely abled. Governed by the Emirates of Abu Dhabi, ZHO has served as a model throughout the MENA region of advancement. Since 2017 the UAE refers to members of the community as 'People of Determination' as a respectful nod to the level of purpose and persistence of someone physical and/or intellectual challenges.
'As a mother, it means the world to see my son grow with confidence and purpose. Thanks to the support of Zayed Higher Organization and his experience at Bee Cafe, he now has a meaningful role, new skills, and a sense of independence. He is also officially a certified barista, a qualification that's recognized internationally. I no longer worry about his future because I trust that he's in the right place, surrounded by people who believe in him.' said Hamda Khadim Al Qubaisi, the parent of Hazaa Mohamed Almehairbi.
'At Zayed Higher Organization, we believe that People of Determination possess unique energies that deserve to be discovered and invested in,' said His Excellency Abdullah Al Humaidan, Secretary General of ZHO. 'The personal and professional successes that we have developed in the Bee Café employment model confirms that focusing on ability-based employment is the key to building a more inclusive and equitable society. In partnership with the Specialty Coffee Association, our nine employees were the first uniquely abled cohort to receive the internationally accredited barista certificate. The skills they learn by getting this certificate opens doors for them to have a sustainable future (even) beyond the Bee Café.'
Broadening vocational and workplace pathways programs is a top priority of ZHO. The focus for ability-driven work is in practice in the United States. Dr. Ivan Rosenberg, founder of the Uniquely Abled Project, a vocational program for machining in the US and Oman said, 'Everybody that has a job challenge has a compensating unique ability that enables them to be highly successful in a work capacity.'
The American non-profit, Helping Adults with Autism Perform and Excel (HAAPE), touts a proprietary algorithm that estimates the increase to the GDP if businesses hire autistic workers. Dr. Larry Rothman, president, provided a cursory estimate of nearly $500M in new income to the economy of UAE if all autistic adults were hired, proving the wrap around value of workforce pathway programs available to all people.
ZHO invites the public to experience the cafe, support its mission, and help it grow. Visit ZHO Instagram and the Bee Café Instagram for more information.

Betterhomes Reports Dubai Residential Property Market Remains a Global Magnet in H1 2025 with Sales Surging

DUBAI, UAE, July 23, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Dubai's residential real estate market continues to defy global headwinds, delivering another record-breaking performance in the first half of 2025. According to the newly released Shaping Skylines Q2 2025 Dubai Residential Real Estate Market Report by Betterhomes, total residential sales reached AED 151.8 billion, a 46% year-on-year increase in value and a 25% rise in transaction volumes, with 50,485 units sold. The report highlights Dubai's continued ascent as one of the world's most dynamic real estate destinations, supported by a growing population seeking Dubai homes for sale, investor-friendly legislation, and a robust development pipeline. Momentum Continues Across Segments Compared to Q1, residential sales grew 33% in value and 19% in volume, underlining strong market momentum. The prime residential segment recorded a new benchmark with 1,417 luxury transactions in Q2, a 67% quarter-on-quarter jump and a 113% increase year-on-year which confirms a rising global appeal of luxury off-plan property for sale in Dubai among ultra-high-net-worth buyers. "Q3 is shaping up to be an exciting phase for Dubai's property market," said Christopher Cina, Director of Sales at Betterhomes. "With around 20,000 new units already delivered and another 70,000 expected by year-end, the city is well-positioned to meet rising demand from investors and end-users alike." Supply Expands, Prices Hold Strong Dubai saw over 20,000 new units delivered in H1 2025, with Jumeirah Village Circle (JVC) leading completions at 20%, followed by Sobha Hartland (11%) and Mohammed Bin Rashid City (8%). Looking ahead, over 200,000 new units are projected through 2027 reflecting developer confidence in Dubai's long-term growth. Despite the influx of supply, average property prices continue to rise, reaching AED 1,582 per square foot, a 6% increase from H2 2024 and up 3% from Q1 2025. Prices are now 18% higher year-on-year and 90% above the pandemic-era low of AED 833 per square foot. Investor Activity and Cash Deals on the Rise The report also revealed a strong resurgence in investor activity, with investors accounting for 58% of all transactions in Q2, up from 50% in Q1. Meanwhile, end-user activity dropped to 42%, as buyers sought rental income and capital appreciation in a high-demand market. Cash buyers dominated the market in Q2, representing 52% of transactions, up from 42% in Q1. Mortgage deals fell to 48%, indicating an increasingly liquid buyer base, driven by high-net-worth individuals and international investors seeking swift deal closures. Global Buyer Shifts Reflect Dubai's Expanding Reach The UK overtook India to become the leading buyer nationality in Q2, driven by a 56% quarterly surge in transactions. India and Pakistan retained second and third positions, respectively, while Poland made its debut in the top five. Notably, Russia dropped out of the top 10 for the first time, with Ireland climbing to sixth. As Dubai continues to draw global interest, particularly from European buyers, its property market stands firm as one of the most attractive and resilient investment destinations worldwide. Etihad Airways CEO Unpacks Big Bet on Small Jets

Etihad is hoping to outmaneuver its Gulf rivals with 30 small but premium aircraft. Will passengers buy the promise of private jet-like luxury? In a region known for flying enormous 777s and double-decker A380s, Etihad's newest star is a single-aisle jet. The Gulf carrier took delivery of its first Airbus A321LR this week, a long-range variant of a plane more typically used for short economy-focused flights. The UAE airline is betting on the new aircraft to supercharge its network growth and broader brand revival. As Etihad CEO Antonoaldo Neves told Skift: 'Today we show the world we're back in the game, and specifically back in the premium game.' That game involves an aircraft type already familiar to many travelers. The A321LR, an evolution of Airbus' best-selling narrowbody, is new-generation, but not exactly groundbreaking. JetBlue took delivery of its first in 2021, while Aer Lingus, Air Transat, and SAS are among others to use the jet on short transatlantic hops. But it's the speed and scale at which Etihad is adding the A321LR – along with its distinctive three-class configuration – that is piquing industry interest. 30, Not 20, A321LRs on the Way Speaking at a media briefing at Airbus' Finkenwerder factory in Germany, Neves left reporters scrambling for their notes. What was meant to be a tranche of 20 A321LRs became a throng of 30. Asked for clarity on the 50% increase, Neves quipped: 'You guys are reading the wrong newspaper.' Through a mix of leased aircraft and direct orders, Etihad will now receive 30 A321LRs over the next four years. A steady flow should result in 10 deliveries by the end of 2025, followed by another 10 the next year, then five each in 2027 and 2028. From the airline's Abu Dhabi hub, the long-range jets will fly as far afield as Paris and Hanoi. Journey tim
