Bucs rookie numbers are finally announced after two weeks of waiting
After two weeks of waiting, the 2025 Buccaneers Rookie Draft Class has selected their jersey numbers.
With the rookie mini camp set to begin, the newest Buccaneers needed to select their jersey numbers. Although they can still be changed before week 1, their preliminary choices have been made.
It was widely speculated that Egbuka may try to get number two, his college jersey number, off of Kyle Trask, who currently holds the number. However, Egbuka ended up in a discussion with the newest punter Riley Dixon, for the number nine jersey, where Dixon yielded.
After Buccaneers legend Ronde Barber made it clear that Benjamin Morrison would not get the blessing to wear number 20, he will look to make number 21 the next number in the secondary to be off limits.
Tez Johnson selected a familiar number, once held by Joe Jurevicius, as well as the late great Vincent Jackson

Orioles First Round Draft Picks Raise Questions

Orioles First Round Draft Picks Raise Questions originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The first two picks by the Baltimore Orioles in the 2025 MLB Draft, caught a lot of people by surprise. With the 19th and 30th pick in the first round, they opted to take two catchers, Ike Irish and Caden Bodine. Adley Rutschman, the current starting catcher for the Orioles is having the worst year of his young MLB career. He is currently batting a career low .227. And even though all players go through cold spells, that has not stopped the trade machines from firing up. Fans have been wondering the availability of the Orioles catcher when it comes to possibly being shipped off. And while it has seemed highly unlikely that the Orioles ultimately would move off Rutschman, the two first-round selections have definitely made eyebrows raise even more. Especially considering the prospect the Orioles have in Triple-A right now. Samuel Basallo is the Orioles number one ranked prospect, and he is also a catcher. He just had his best stretch of play in the month of June. He had an on base percentage of .452, batting average of .318, and had seven home runs. With him in the mix behind the bag too it raises even more questions what the Orioles plan to do going forward. Who knows between now and the time Irish and Bodine make it to the MLB, they might be playing different positions. That is one way the Orioles may be viewing this whole situation, and it happens often with players. Overall their are a lot of unknowns and this situation is definitely something to keep an eye on. ESPN insider reveals honest projection for Thunder guard Nikola Topić

After missing all of last season with a knee injury, guard Nikola Topić has impressed in a limited sample size in summer league with the Oklahoma City Thunder. Topić debuted in the Salt Lake City Summer League earlier this month, averaging 10.7 points, 4.3 assists, three rebounds and two steals in three appearances. He is posting a similar average through three games in Las Vegas, Nevada: 11 points, 7.3 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 1.7 steals. The 12th pick in the 2024 NBA draft was highly touted out of Crvena zvezda in the ABA League. He may have been projected to be selected even higher had he come out this year, a scout recently told ESPN front office insider Bobby Marks. "This was after the Utah Summer League ... I had a scout tell me (Topić) would have been a top-five pick in this year's draft," Marks recalled Tuesday on ESPN. Topić was sidelined after undergoing surgery to repair a torn left ACL suffered while playing in the ABA League Finals on May 13, 2024. He made steady progress throughout the year with the team medical staff and was cleared to debut with the Thunder in Utah. The 19-year-old was the 2024 ABA League Top Prospect, averaging 15.1 points, 5.9 assists and 3.2 rebounds on 50.5% shooting from the field. He joined the likes of Nikola Jokić, Goga Bitadze and Nikola Jović as past award recipients. The Thunder appear to have identified another player who can contribute in the rotation for coach Mark Daigneault. The organization has been successful in the draft and seems to have secured its core long-term after claiming its first championship. Detroit Red Wings sign first-round draft pick Carter Bear to entry-level contract

The Detroit Red Wings have signed their top draft pick. The Red Wings and first-round draft pick Carter Bear have agreed on a three-year, entry-level contract, as announced on the team's X account: Detroit made Bear the No. 13 overall pick at the 2025 NHL Draft, held on June 27. The 18-year-old forward led the Western Hockey League's Everett Silvertips with 82 points in the 2024-25 season despite partially tearing his Achilles tendon on March 9. The Red Wings drafted Bear despite his injury, with general manager Steve Yzerman saying: "We checked it out. Our doctors feel it will heal 100%. It wasn't a concern for us at all." Bear was named to the WHL's Western Conference Second All-Star Team in 2025, his third season with the Silvertips. Entry-level contracts last for three years for NHL draftees who are 18-19 years old. The contract allows for Bear to continue playing in lower leagues without starting the clock on his contract, with nine NHL games allowed before he has to remain with the Wings. He is likely to remain with the Silvertips for another season.
