Driver's keys taken during fight on Southern California freeway
The incident was reported shortly before 7 a.m. when the drivers of a van and a car got out of their vehicles, leaving at least one lane blocked on the northbound side of the freeway near Devore Road.
Both drivers then began fighting on the freeway, allegedly because the van had been cut off by the other driver, who then 'brake checked' him, the California Highway Patrol stated.
The driver of the van called the CHP, telling them that he had been kicked and had his keys stolen by the other motorist, who then drove away.
The caller had also suffered facial injuries during the altercation, the CHP stated.
Because the van could not be moved off the freeway, traffic through the area was delayed while a tow truck responded to the location.
The caller told investigators that he had been spit on and then kicked when he tripped trying to confront the other driver.
No description of the other driver or his vehicle has been made available.
Authorities are also searching for a truck that drove away after apparently striking the van as it sat on the freeway.
Video from the scene showed the van being hooked up to the tow truck around 7:30 a.m. The scene was cleared a short time later.

Authorities identified some of the residents of a Fall River assisted living facility who died due to a large fire on Sunday night. The residents were: Rui Albernaz, 64 Ronald Codega, 61 Margaret Duddy, 69 Robert King, 78 Kim Mackin, 71 Richard Rochon, 78 Eleanor Willett, 86 A 70-year-old female and a 77-year-old male will be identified after the next of kin are notified, according to the Bristol District Attorney's Office. The origin and cause of the fire remain under investigation by state and local authorities. The cause does not appear to be suspicious at this time, the office said. 'My heart goes out to all of the victims, their families and all of those impacted by this terrible tragedy. I would like to commend the first responders for their efforts in bringing many of the residents to safety while being confronted with very difficult circumstances,' District Attorney Tom Quinn said in a statement. A fire broke out at about 9:30 p.m. on Sunday at the Gabriel House Assisted Living Residence, which drew nearly 50 firefighters to the scene and left a vulnerable population calling for help from their windows. The Gabriel House opened in 1999 and has a total of 100 units, according to a state website. Fall River Fire Chief Jeffrey Bacon described rescue efforts as 'super labor-intensive and man-power intensive' due to the mobility issues for many of the residents. The first firefighters at the scene saw flames coming out of the front doors and multiple residents were hanging out of the window, screaming for help, Bacon said. Judge finds probable cause in Browns rookie Quinshon Judkins' battery and domestic violence case
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — A Broward County judge has found probable cause after Cleveland Browns rookie running back Quinshon Judkins was arrested Saturday night in Florida on a charge of battery and domestic violence. Judkins was released on Sunday after he posted $2,500 bond. The judge ordered Judkins not to be in contact with the alleged victim and no access to firearms. The charge is a misdemeanor. Advertisement According to court records, Judkins was arrested on Saturday by Fort Lauderdale police after a report of 'delayed battery.' The alleged incident took place on July 7 in a car after leaving Fort Lauderdale Airport. The alleged victim stayed with Judkins in Fort Lauderdale for five days and celebrated her birthday before making the report. David Weinstein, Judkins' attorney, told the judge during the hearing that 'I think the state's overstating the facts. It's alleged that there's an incident that occurred.' 'It appears from her own statements she was encouraged to take advantage of my client and that's why she made the after the fact report,' Weinstein added. Advertisement A Browns spokesman said the team is aware of the incident and gathering more information. Judkins could also be subject to league discipline under the personal conduct policy. The 21-year-old Judkins was the 36th overall pick in the April draft after rushing for 1,060 yards and 14 touchdowns at Ohio State last season. The Browns drafted Judkins in the hopes that he could become the team's lead running back after Nick Chubb signed with the Houston Texans. Cleveland also drafted Dylan Sampson in the fourth round. Judkins is the only member of the Browns' seven-player draft class who has not signed his rookie contract. Cleveland's rookies are scheduled to report to training camp on Friday. ___ AP NFL: The Associated Press
