Intel, Redington strengthen tech alliances to drive AI and innovation, says Shadi Shidvash
Redington marked a significant milestone with Redington ReInspire 2025, a celebration of its 25-year legacy in democratising technology across the Middle East and Africa. Held at La Perle, Dubai, the event brought together global tech leaders, partners, and innovators to showcase the impact of collaborative ecosystems in driving meaningful transformation across emerging markets.
Shadi Shidvash, EMEA Distribution Sales Director at Intel, delivered a keynote titled 'Intel Inside, Great Partnerships Outside', spotlighting the enduring collaboration between Intel and Redington. His message centred on the importance of ecosystem partnerships in scaling innovation, performance, and adoption of AI-powered technologies in the region.
In this exclusive interview, Shidvash discusses the evolution of Intel and Redington's partnership, the regional demand for AI and hybrid solutions, and how channel partners can lead the next wave of innovation.
Interview Excerpts
Q: Intel and Redington share a longstanding relationship. How has this collaboration evolved over the years to support innovation across the Middle East?
It's truly been a decades-long partnership rooted in a shared vision—to enable greater access to technology across the region. While Intel focuses on building cutting-edge AI and hardware innovations, Redington plays an essential role in scaling these solutions. They help us bring technologies not only to channel partners and elite systems integrators, but also directly to end customers.
Redington supports this through ongoing technical enablement, partner training, go-to-market initiatives, and by significantly contributing to the Intel Partner Alliance (IPA) programme. They've been instrumental in expanding our partner network and fostering communication through trainings, incentives, and matchmaking. Their contribution is central to Intel's regional impact.
Q: How do you see the rise of AI, high-performance computing, and hybrid work shaping demand for Intel-powered technologies in this region?
This is a pivotal moment. The region is investing heavily in AI infrastructure and digital ecosystems, and that's accelerating demand across three major fronts.
Firstly, client PCs—there's a surge in demand for AI-capable devices at the edge. With our Core Ultra processors and embedded NPU technology, customers can run AI inference directly on devices, ensuring both performance and data privacy.
Secondly, data centres and hybrid cloud—our Xeon 6 processors come with integrated AI engines and hardware-level security features like SGX and TDX, enabling secure and confidential AI at scale.
Lastly, we see momentum around vertical AI solutions and edge computing. We're working with platform vendors and software partners to deliver industry-specific solutions, from government to education and enterprise. Redington plays a strategic role in bringing these solutions to market with their robust partner ecosystem.
Q: What are the biggest opportunities for channel partners in this evolving tech landscape, particularly with Redington as a key ally?
Channel partners now have a tremendous opportunity—but it's not just about selling AI; it's about deploying it meaningfully. The vendors are ready, the tech is here, but the true differentiator will be the partner that listens to the customer, understands their AI journey, and guides them through it.
Sales today are no longer one-size-fits-all. Partners must adopt a customer-first mindset—asking where the client is, where they want to go with AI, and how to take them from point A to Z. This is what will define success in the new tech paradigm.
We're committed to this approach and are working closely with Redington to enable partners with the tools, technologies, and mindset needed to lead. It's the perfect time for the ecosystem to embrace AI with purpose.

Uber launches ‘Women Drivers' feature in Saudi Arabia
Uber has announced the upcoming launch of its new 'Women Drivers' product in Saudi Arabia, allowing women riders to be matched exclusively with women drivers via the app. The new feature, which will roll out gradually in the coming weeks, marks a major step forward in enhancing mobility and economic inclusion for Saudi women. The launch coincides with the seven-year anniversary of the Kingdom's historic decision to lift the driving ban on women, and is positioned as part of Uber's broader mission to empower women through innovation, local partnerships, and economic opportunity. Uber Women Drivers in Saudi Arabia The product is also designed for ease of use to ensure women feel comfortable and empowered. It will be available gradually for riders in the coming weeks. Here's how the product works: On-demand: The Women Drivers product allows women riders to be matched with Women Drivers. The product functions just like UberX and is selectable from the product mini-list with similar prices to Uber X Reserve: For women riders looking for added structure and planning, they can reserve a ride with a women driver up to 30 minutes in advance through the Uber Reserve feature Youssef Abouseif, KSA GM at Uber, said: 'Women across Saudi Arabia have shown how mobility can open the door to new possibilities. At Uber, we see that future as electric, shared, and autonomous – but also inclusive. 'The launch of the 'Women Drivers' product reflects our commitment to empowering women and supporting their mobility and economic independence. 'We're continuing to support women who choose to drive via the Uber app – giving them more choice, more opportunity, and a stronger sense of community. 'We're also thrilled to witness this dynamic change unfold in Saudi Arabia, and we firmly believe initiatives like these play a pivotal role in Saudi Vision 2030.' Uber is partnering with Alnahda Society, a leading non-profit organisation established in 1962 with a mission to empower women both economically and socially. The collaboration aims to support women in mobility through capacity-building initiatives, including financial literacy programs, by equipping women with essential skills. The initiative paves the way for economic independence and opens up opportunities such as driving via the Uber app. This effort builds on Uber's previous collaboration with Alnahda through the Masaruky initiative, which supported thousands of women in joining the workforce by helping them learn to drive and obtain a driver's licence. Additionally, Uber will host its first GigSister program in Saudi Arabia, creating a dedicated space for women drivers to connect, share experiences, and foster a supportive local community. These initiatives highlight how Uber is going beyond mobility to actively invest in the development and success of women across the Kingdom. Over the years, Uber has introduced a series of programs in Saudi Arabia, from the Wusool initiative, which supported more than 20m subsidised rides for women, to Women Rider Preference, which allows women drivers to choose if they want to exclusively pick-up women riders. Each of these initiatives has been carefully curated to advance women's participation in the workforce and align with the Kingdom's broader socio-economic goals.

African Development Bank Approves $62 Million Emergency Grant to Restore Critical Services in Conflict-Affected Sudan
The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank Group ( has approved a $62.13 million emergency grant to support the Sudan Integrated Social Sector Infrastructure Rehabilitation Project (SISSIRP). This vital support aims to restore essential health, education, and water services that have been severely disrupted by the ongoing civil conflict in Sudan, which erupted in 2023. The funding package, approved on 11 July 2025, comprises $44.57 million from Pillar 1 of the Transition Support Facility and $17.56 million from the African Development Fund, the Bank's concessional financing window for low-income countries. Sudan is currently facing one of the world's gravest humanitarian crises. An estimated 30.6 million people are in urgent need of assistance, including 11.5 million internally displaced persons, 54% of whom are women. The conflict has devastated critical infrastructure and services across the country, leaving healthcare facilities, schools, and water systems destroyed. This breakdown has deepened poverty, widened inequalities, and significantly limited access to basic services, particularly in conflict-affected areas. Commenting on the project, Mary Monyau, the Bank's Country Manager for Sudan, highlighted the initiative's importance: 'This project is a crucial step towards rebuilding lives and livelihoods. By restoring access to clean water, healthcare, and essential infrastructure, we are not only addressing immediate humanitarian needs but also laying the foundation for long-term resilience and development.' The two-year project (2025-2027) will focus on four Sudanese states-- Aj Jazira, River Nile, Sennar, and White Nile – and is designed to improve the resilience and well-being of the population by rehabilitating and strengthening social sector services. The SISSIRP is structured around three core components: Strengthening Social Infrastructure and Systems: Rehabilitation of key education, health, and WASH (water, sanitation, and hygiene) facilities to ensure continued access to safe drinking water and essential public services. Capacity Development and Community Engagement: Strengthening the capacities of individuals, institutions, and communities to manage and sustain the delivery of social services and infrastructure. Governance and Implementation Support: Ensuring transparent, accountable, and effective project implementation with robust monitoring and mechanisms to guarantee equitable access for targeted beneficiaries. The initiative aligns with the Bank's extended Country Brief for Sudan. It also supports the Bank's Ten-Year Strategy (2024–2033) and contributes directly to one of its key "High 5" priorities, ' Improve the Quality of Life for the People of Africa.' It further aligns with sub-themes including access to basic drinking water services, coverage of essential health services, and youth inclusion in employment, education, and training.
