Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 Design And Colors Revealed In New Leak

Forbes5 days ago

The next phones from Samsung are expected to be the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, joined perhaps by a more affordable model, likely called the Galaxy Z Flip FE (where FE stands for fan edition). A new leak shows what the Flip7 and Flip FE are going to look like, including what colors they will sport.
In 2024 it was the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 Olympic edition. What will this year's flip phone be like?
Regular leaker Evan Blass, who has a strong and solid track record in his leaks, has released renders of the new flip phones, showing their colors and more.
In the renders, picked up by SamMobile, there are indications that the Galaxy Z Flip7 will have an updated design, for example with a full external cover screen on the folded phone, instead of the design on the current Z Flip6. The bezels that surround the display also look much slimmer on the new renders than they are on the Z Flip6.
And then there's the colors. The Z Flip7, if these leaks are correct, will come in three colors. Blue and black are familiar to Samsung users, but the third, it's claimed, will be coral red. The renders show this to be an eye-catching, sultry shade that will be hard to miss — and ideal if you're the sort of person who finds it easy to leave your phone behind because it's lying on a black seat on an airplane, for instance. You'll spot the coral red one easily.
It's hard to know exactly how accurate the renders are in terms of color, but if accurate, this will be an exotic, refreshing shade.
The renders also show the new phone as being extremely thin, especially when compared to the forthcoming Galaxy Z Flip FE. The FE not only looks thicker, but has a smaller external display, similar to earlier Z Flip phones — though it still makes up a significant part of the phone's form factor.
This will be the first-ever fan edition foldable, so it's hard to know exactly what to make of it from images alone: the most important specification may turn out to be the price, specifically, how much cheaper it is than the regular edition.

China bans uncertified and recalled power banks on planes

BEIJING (Reuters) -China's aviation regulator will from Saturday ban passengers from carrying power banks without Chinese safety certification markings, as well as those recently recalled by manufacturers because of safety concerns. The move, which applies to anyone boarding a flight in China, follows a series of incidents globally involving lithium battery products, including power banks, overheating on planes. South Korea said a spare power bank was a possible cause of a fire that engulfed an Air Busan plane in January, and in March a Hong Kong Airlines flight from China to Hong Kong was forced to land in China due to a fire in an overhead baggage compartment. Lithium batteries in devices such as laptops, mobile phones, electronic cigarettes and power banks can produce smoke, fire or extreme heat when manufacturing faults or damage cause them to short circuit. They are a growing concern for aviation safety as passengers carry more battery-powered items on flights. Last year three incidents every two weeks of overheating lithium batteries on planes were recorded globally by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration, compared to just under one a week in 2018. China's Civil Aviation Administration said on Thursday power banks must be clearly marked with "3C" certification, short for China Compulsory Certification, which authorities require for products that could impact health, safety, and environmental protection. Several leading power bank manufacturers in China including Anker and Romoss have this month recalled batches of battery products due to safety concerns. China's market regulator has revoked or suspended the 3C certification of several power bank and battery cell manufacturers. Since the Air Busan incident, airlines globally have been tightening power bank rules. Aviation rules generally say power banks should be carried in cabin baggage, but increasingly airlines are banning their use on board and say they must be kept within view to spot any problems. China has since 2014 forbidden passengers from charging devices using power banks during flights. Southwest Airlines at the end of May became the first U.S. airline to say portable charging devices must be visible while in use during flight.

Bernstein weighs in on the path ahead for Japanese semiconductor equipment stocks

- Japanese semiconductor production equipment names have risen rapidly over the past month, driven in part by increased demand from artificial intelligence chipmakers for testers of the technology, according to analysts at Bernstein. In a note to clients, the analysts led by David Dai highlighted several of these firms that have seen their share prices rally in recent weeks. Advantest (TYO:6857), a manufacturer of automatic chip testing gear, has been one particular beneficiary, with the stock spiking on expectations for higher demand from firms like Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) and TSMC, the strategists said. However, they suggested that investors "take profit now," arguing that revenue in the years to come at the company is "unlikely to present much growth year-over-year due to capacity build out this year." Advantest shares are also richly valued, they flagged, adding that many projections for tester demand "that's been floating around are likely misleading, as they may have confused the old and new testers." Other backend Japanese chip equipment makers have also seen their shares rise, although small cap firms "may still have upside," the analysts said. They especially like Disco (OTC:DSCSY) Corporation (TYO:6146), a precision tools manufacturer, highlighting the business's "long term growth prospects," including drivers such as "backside power, NAND stacking, and Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) WMCM packaging." But front end equipment makers provide a "better opportunity" for investors, the Bernstein analysts said. "We continue to like Kokusai (TYO:7722) and Tokyo Electron (TYO:8035) for the growth in memory and China equipment demand. Our recent China WFE tracker suggests strong China WFE demand continues this year," they wrote. "The recent potential restriction on foreign fabs in China would be additional reason to buy Japan front end equipment." The strategists gave Advantest a "market-perform" rating, while Disco, Kokusai and Tokyo Electron were rated as "outperform." Humanoid Robots Play Soccer Poorly in Chinese Exhibition Match

They looked like tipsy 7-year-olds stumbling about the soccer pitch. But the game that unfolded at an industrial zone in Beijing was a breakthrough for humanoid robots and the artificial intelligence that powered them through a 5-3 match on Saturday. Clad in black and purple jerseys with individual player numbers, diminutive humanoids faced off for two 10-minute halves, their movements controlled not by gesticulating coaches on the sidelines but by built-in algorithms.
