Bruins jump out to early two-goal lead but can't hang against Sabres

The two sides traded six goals in the opening 40:00, leaving them deadlocked, 3-3.
Pastrnak, who rolled up 5 points (3-2–5) the night before in a 5-1 win over the Hurricanes on Causeway Street had his name on all three goals (assists to strikes by Elias Lindholm, Morgan Geekie, and ex-Sabre Corey Mittselstadt).
Pastrnak's helper on Geekie's goal, for the 2-0 lead, also established a team record, Pastrnak left with his name on 10 consecutive goals — the previous high (9) co-held by Bruins legends Phil Esposito and Ray Bourque.

The Sabres, again without a playoff seed for a 14th consecutive season, pulled even, 2-2, with a pair of goals across a span of 3:14 in the second period. The first was by Thompson at 7:33, followed by Boston College product Alex Tuch at 10:47.
Mittelstadt, acquired in the March trade that sent Charlie Coyle to the Avalanche, knocked home the go-ahead goal (3-2) with a power-play strike at 16:38. It gave Mittlestadt three goals since joining the offensively-challenged Bruins. It also left Pastrnak with his name on an 11th consecutive Bruins goal.
With but 90 seconds remaining in the second period, Rasmus Dahlin pulled the Sabres even again, 3-3, helped by the fact that Bruins newcomers Fabian Lysell and Fraser Minten got their signals crossed in the defensive zone.
