Iran's Pezeshkian injured in Israel's June 16 strike

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian sustained a minor leg injury during Israel's June 16 airstrike on a high-level meeting of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, the semi-official Fars News Agency reported on Sunday.
The strike hit a secure government compound hosting top Iranian officials, including the heads of all three branches of government. Fars noted that Pezeshkian and others took shelter in underground chambers and evacuated through a designated emergency route after the blast wounded several individuals.
According to the report, Israel used six precision-guided munitions aimed at exits and ventilation shafts, apparently designed to trap officials inside and cripple the compound. Power was immediately cut, but the delegation escaped through a reinforced corridor.
Iran has launched an internal investigation into a suspected security breach, Fars affirmed, hinting at possible 'insider intelligence' behind the operation and comparing the strike's sophistication to Israel's past assassination of Hezbollah's Hassan Nasrallah.
In a recent virtual interview with American Commentator Tucker Carlson, Pezeshkian accused Israel of trying to assassinate him, asserting, 'They moved in that direction, but they failed.'
The 12-day war between Iran and Israel, which erupted on June 13, caused heavy casualties and widespread infrastructure damage. The United States also entered the conflict, conducting strikes on Iranian nuclear sites.

Autonomous Administration offers help as wildfires ravage Syria's coastal forests
Shafaq News – Qamishli The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria announced on Tuesday its readiness to assist in extinguishing the wildfires that have swept across Syria's coastal forests in recent days, causing significant destruction to vegetation and raising fears of worsening environmental and economic damage. In a statement, the Environmental Authority of the Autonomous Administration described the fires as 'an escalating environmental disaster whose consequences go beyond natural impact.' It expressed solidarity with residents of the affected areas and pledged to provide 'all possible forms of assistance to contain the fires and prevent their spread.' The Authority also called on the international community and environmental organizations to intervene and support ongoing efforts to protect Syria's forests and prevent future disasters. Syrian Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management, Raed al-Saleh, previously confirmed that Damascus had requested support from the European Union to combat the blazes, which have continued for a sixth consecutive day in the Latakia countryside. Joint Iraqi–Peshmerga offensive targets ISIS in Kirkuk
Shafaq News – Kirkuk/Erbil Iraqi forces and Kurdish Peshmerga launched a wide-scale security operation on Sunday in the Qarachogh mountain range, northwest of Kirkuk, following reported movements by ISIS remnants in the rugged area over recent days, A senior security source told Shafaq News. 'The operation is based on precise intelligence that also helped identify suspected hideouts and tunnels believed to be used by the militants,' the source confirmed. The operation is designed to hunt down ISIS remnants, destroy their infrastructure, and prevent any renewed insurgent activity in the region. The effort is being coordinated between the Iraqi Army and the Peshmerga under the supervision of joint operations command centers. The Qarachogh Mountains, straddling the border between Kirkuk and Erbil provinces, remain a strategic hotspot, frequently witnessing military campaigns aimed at denying ISIS fighters the ability to regroup and launch attacks on nearby villages and security positions.
