Asia's Largest STEM Conference: ICCCNT 2025 Wraps Up at IIT Indore with Unprecedented Global Participation

Indore (Madhya Pradesh) [India], July 12: The 16th IEEE International Conference on Computing, Communication and Networking Technologies (ICCCNT 2025) concluded this week at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Indore, marking a major milestone in the global STEM landscape. With more than 10,000 submissions from 99 countries, ICCCNT 2025 has become Asia's largest STEM conference, reinforcing its role as a vibrant platform for academic and industry collaboration.
Held from July 6 to 11, the conference was co-organized with Oriental University, Indore, and Kongu Engineering College, Tamil Nadu. The hybrid format brought together researchers, scholars, entrepreneurs, and technologists worldwide—both in-person and online—creating a truly global event.
ICCCNT 2025 stood out for its scale and diversity. Nearly 900 international submissions—roughly 9% of the total—highlighted its growing global footprint. The agenda covered vital themes such as AI, 6G, IoT, cybersecurity, smart infrastructure, and green computing, with participation from institutions including NASA, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, and Amrita University.
The conference was led by Prof. Surya Prakash (Conference Chair, IIT Indore), Prof. Prakash Duraisamy (Co-Chair, University of Wisconsin, USA), and Prof. Murugesan K. (Organizing Chair – Offline, Kongu Engineering College). Their vision helped deliver six days of high-impact sessions and cross-sector collaboration.
Endorsed by IEEE Electronics Packaging Society (EPS) and IEEE Industry Applications Society (IAS), the event's academic rigor was elevated further. All accepted papers will be published in the IEEE Xplore® Digital Library.
One of the standout features of ICCCNT 2025 was its first-ever industry exhibition. Spearheaded by Ms. Prachi Garg, Exhibition Chair, it brought public and private sector innovators to a shared platform. From live demos to product showcases and interactive sessions, the exhibition encouraged real-world applications of academic research.
'These exhibitions are not just about showcasing technology—they are about building bridges between research and real-world impact,' said Ms. Garg. 'We were thrilled to see how students, faculty, entrepreneurs, and R&D leaders interacted over ideas that could define the future.'
The opening ceremony set a high bar, bringing together scientific minds from across the globe. Over the week, ICCCNT 2025 featured keynote addresses, plenary sessions, workshops, and parallel technical tracks—all curated to balance accessibility with depth. Discussions included ethical AI, data sovereignty, and green tech deployment.
Co-organizers Oriental University and Kongu Engineering College played a crucial role in the successful online execution of the event. Their contribution enabled a seamless global experience and underscored the power of regional institutions in shaping national innovation narratives.
'Kicking off ICCCNT 2025 from the heart of Madhya Pradesh was a symbolic and strategic move,' said Ms. Garima Ghai from Oriental University. 'It proves that research excellence and global conversations are not limited to metros or the West—they can thrive in India's growing knowledge corridors.'
Another highlight was the hands-on workshop series, led by Ms. Tripty Singh, which delivered practical learning for students, researchers, and professionals. These sessions introduced emerging platforms in robotics and intelligent systems.
Panel discussions tackled timely global challenges, ranging from climate-responsive infrastructure to cybersecurity and inclusive digital governance. The focus wasn't just theoretical. Experts proposed actionable frameworks and policy-level insights drawn from multi-sector experience.
Reflecting on the impact of the event, Prof. Prakash Duraisamy noted, 'ICCCNT is more than a conference—it's a catalyst for future-ready innovation. Its unique blend of academic rigor and industry relevance makes it a vital forum for shaping tomorrow's technologies.'

IIT Guwahati launches MTech: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati today announced introduction a new Master of Technology (MTech) programme in Flood and Water Resources Management. Offered by the Department of Civil Engineering, the programme is aimed at working professionals and graduates with at least one year of experience in the water resources sector. The programme will be conducted in a hybrid format, combining online instruction with laboratory sessions and final examinations held on the IIT Guwahati campus. The MTech program follows a semester-based system and covers areas such as integrated and sustainable water resource management, flood risk assessment, hydrological modeling, and climate adaptation strategies. The curriculum is designed to be flexible, allowing participants to balance their professional commitments while pursuing higher education. The programme also includes multi-entry and multi-exit options. Students can exit with different certifications depending on their stage of completion: a Postgraduate Certificate after four courses, a Postgraduate Diploma after seven courses, a Master of Science (Engineering) after two semesters and 10 courses, and the full MTech degree after completing all four semesters and a capstone project. Those exiting at interim levels can rejoin after a one-year gap to complete the full programme. Application and admission details Applications for the inaugural batch are open until July 31, 2025. Classes are scheduled to begin on August 18. Candidates must have a four-year Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Civil or Agricultural Engineering or related disciplines with at least 60% marks or a 6.0/10 CPI, along with one year of professional experience in the water resources sector. Notably, a GATE score is not required. Career opportunities and skills Graduates will be trained in tools such as GIS, remote sensing, hydrological modeling, and flood forecasting. They will be equipped to work in government agencies, international organisations, consultancy firms, and research institutions focused on climate resilience and sustainable water systems. The programme aims to develop professionals who can implement adaptive water resource management strategies in the context of climate change. Earlier this year, the Water Resources Department of Assam signed an MoU with IIT Guwahati to nominate 20 engineers annually for the MTech program. The initiative is part of a larger project led by the Assam Flood and River Erosion Management Agency (FREMAA) and supported by the World Bank. The goal is to train over 200 engineers in the next decade to strengthen Assam's flood management systems.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi has completed the third edition of its school outreach programme, PRAYAS 3.0. The initiative ran for a month and brought school students to campus for an extended exposure to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).The aim of PRAYAS is to give school students an early experience with labs, lectures, and real-world problem-solving at a leading science from across the region participated in this edition, staying on campus and attending sessions led by IIT Mandi faculty and student LEARNING, ROBO SOCCER, AND EARLY STEM EXPOSURE The programme mixed workshops with lab visits, project-based learning, and team of the standout moments came during the Robo Soccer challenge, an event where students designed and programmed robots to play football matches. For most participants, it was their first time working with robotic systems.'The excitement on their faces as they controlled their robots on the soccer field was priceless,' said a student mentor. 'Most of them had never done anything like this before.'Apart from robotics, the programme introduced participants to basic computer programming, circuit building, and mechanical design. It also included problem-solving exercises and exposure to tools and equipment that are often not available in regular school at the closing ceremony, Dr. Tushar Jain, Head of the Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) at IIT Mandi, said, 'PRAYAS is about planting seeds of curiosity. We hope this experience will stay with these students for a long time and influence how they approach learning.'Dr. Jain added that early exposure to STEM fields helps students build confidence and interest. 'The learning and confidence they've gained here—we hope that pushes some of them to take up science or engineering seriously in the future.'The programme ended with a certificate distribution ceremony on campus. For the participating students, the past month offered more than just lessons—it offered a glimpse into a future where science is not just studied, but also built, tested, and played PRAYAS 3.0, IIT Mandi continues its effort to connect scientific institutions with the next generation, one robotics match at a time.- Ends
