JAF personnel celebrate Flag Day
AMMAN — Personnel of the Jordan Armed Forces–Arab Army (JAF) on Wednesday joined Jordanians in celebrating the Jordanian Flag Day through a series of national activities held across the Kingdom's governorates.
The JAF musical bands took part in the festivities, while JAF personnel distributed Jordanian flags to citizens and students at schools and universities throughout the Kingdom.
Citizens expressed pride in this 'distinctive national occasion, which reflects a deep sense of belonging and loyalty to the homeland and its Hashemite leadership.'
They reaffirmed their unity behind the Hashemite leadership and their pride in raising the Jordanian flag.
Buildings of various army formations and units, along with the JAF vehicles, were decorated with the Jordanian flag.
Schools affiliated with the Directorate of Military Education and Culture also celebrated the occasion with national activities that raised the flag and highlighted its symbolism and the meanings behind its colours.
Jordanians mark this national day every year on April 16, a date designated by the Cabinet as part of the centennial celebrations of the founding of the Jordanian state.

Ammon News - The Social Security Corporation (SSC) reported that 2,783 people subscribed voluntarily for the first time during the first half of this year, bringing the total number of active voluntary subscribers to 107,279 by the end of the same period. In a response to inquiries by the Jordan News Agency (Petra), the SSC explained that voluntary subscription is an important mechanism for individuals who are not compulsorily covered to complete their insurance rights. The program is available under specific conditions, including that the applicant must be Jordanian, aged between 16 and 60 for men or 55 for women when applying for the first time, not compulsorily insured through any job, and must not have received any social security benefits such as old-age pension, early retirement, lump-sum compensation, or total or partial disability benefits. The SSC noted that this option targets broad segments of society, especially expatriate Jordanians, housewives, and insured individuals who have left their jobs and need to complete the required contributions to qualify for a future retirement pension. Voluntary subscribers are covered under old-age, disability, and death insurance, and the same provisions apply to them as to compulsory subscribers. They must pay a monthly contribution of 17.5% of their declared insured wage, which must not be less than JD 290. The SSC added that applications can be submitted electronically via its official website, mobile application, or the government's Sanad app, with no documents required. Payments can be made through eFAWATEERcom, exchange offices, or banks.

Higher Education Council Revises Credit Transfer Hours for Bridging Students in Universities During its recent session chaired by Dr. Azmi Mahafza, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Higher Education Council decided to amend the number of credit hours transferable for intermediate diploma students who are bridging into Jordanian official and private universities, effective from the 2024/2025 academic year. اضافة اعلان According to the decision, Jordanian universities will equate courses studied by students at the intermediate university diploma level—whether completed inside or outside Jordan—provided that the content match is at least 80%. The maximum transferable credit hours will be 48 hours for two-year programs and 64 hours for three-year programs. The decision applies to students admitted in the 2024/2025 academic year as well as to all students who will be admitted in future years under bridging programs. Jordan resumes sending relief convoys to Gaza
Ammon News - In implementation of the royal directives, the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO), in coordination with the armed forces, on Wednesday resumed sending relief convoys to the Gaza Strip. In a statement, the JHCO said that a convoy of 40 trucks loaded with essential food supplies crossed into the Gaza Strip, in cooperation with the World Food Programme (WFP), as part of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan's ongoing humanitarian efforts to support our people in the Strip. The aid will be distributed in the northern Gaza Strip to ensure food aid reaches the most affected families, in coordination with local partners. The resumption comes amid the continued deterioration of humanitarian and living conditions in Gaza, making Jordanian humanitarian aid a fundamental pillar of support and resilience. JHCO Secretary-General, Hussein Shibli, emphasized that the resumption of the convoys embodies Jordan's unwavering commitment, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, to standing by the Palestinian people. Shibli stressed the importance of cooperating with the World Food Programme (WFP) to enhance food security in Gaza, noting that the JHCO has been working daily over the past period to implement food projects within the Strip through bakeries, charities, and the distribution of food and clean water.
