Thousands of Israeli protesters demand deal to release captives, end war on Gaza
Speaking at the rally, Einav Zangauker, the mother of Israeli captive Matan Zangauker, accused the Israeli government of thwarting the process for a deal.
"Israel is setting unrealistic conditions and without real feasibility. We will not return our children if the Israeli government doesn't put a real proposal on the table," Haaretz reported Zangauker saying.
"If, instead of putting a comprehensive agreement on the table, the Israeli government decides to expand the military operation, it will issue a death sentence to the living hostages and exhume the dead," she said, adding that "we must force the government into a comprehensive agreement to end the war."

United Nations Security Council must issue binding resolutions to stop war on Gaza: Hamas
In a recorded video message broadcast by Al Jazeera Arabic on Monday, Hamas senior representative Osama Hamdan called on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to issue firm and binding resolutions to rein in Israel and end the war on Gaza. "The world has witnessed the humane treatment received by the enemy prisoners of the resistance since 7 October 2023 through the duration of their captivity," Hamdan said. "The resistance has always made it clear that the enemy prisoners eat what our besieged and hungry people eat, and they drink from what [our people] drink". Reiterating the statement made by Qassam spokesperson Abu Obeida on Sunday, Hamdan said Hamas is ready to work with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to bring in food and medicine to the Israeli captives it is holding in Gaza, in a bid to "force the occupation to open the humanitarian corridors in a normal and permanent manner for the passage of food and medicine to all our people". "Breaking the siege, opening all the crossings immediately, and bringing food, water and medicine urgently to the entire Gaza Strip will end the humanitarian catastrophe" and leave no need for the scandal-plagued, US-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), Hamdan said.

France expels Gaza student over anti-Semitic posts
A student from Gaza who had been studying in France on a scholarship left for Qatar on Sunday, ordered out over anti-Semitic comments found on her social media accounts, the foreign ministry said. Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot "stressed the unacceptable nature of the comments made by Ms. Nour Attaalah, a Gazan student, before she entered French territory", said the ministry statement. "Given their seriousness, Ms. Attaalah could not remain on French territory. She left France today to go to Qatar to continue her studies there," it added. The student's lawyer, Ossama Dahmane, said Attaalah had chosen to "pursue her studies in another country in a spirit of appeasement and to guarantee her security", even if "she firmly denies the accusations made against her". Freeze on all Gaza student evacuation plans The young woman, who had received a student visa and a government scholarship as part of a programme for Gazan students, had been due to join Sciences Po Lille in the fall. She arrived in France on July 11, according to a French diplomatic source. But social media posts from the past two years calling for the killing of Jews, since deleted, were discovered. That led to a judicial investigation for condoning terrorism, and an inquiry to determine why the posts had not been detected in advance. AFP was unable to confirm the screen shots attributed to her by internet users and media outlets, but Sciences Po Lille said on Wednesday that her social media comments had been confirmed, without elaborating. Dahmane, the lawyer, said the "alleged facts are largely based on shared tweets, taken out of context." Barrot said on Friday that France was freezing all its student evacuation programmes from Gaza pending the outcome of the investigation into how the posts had been missed. The foreign ministry would not say how many students have been affected, citing privacy reasons. US states that boycott Israel will not receive natural disaster aid, Trump administration says
US states and cities that boycott Israeli companies will be denied federal aid for natural disaster preparedness, the Trump administration has announced, tying routine federal funding to its political stance. The Federal Emergency Management Agency stated in grant notices posted on Friday that states must follow its "terms and conditions". Those conditions require they certify they will not sever 'commercial relations specifically with Israeli companies' to qualify for funding. The requirement applies to at least $1.9bn that states rely on to cover search-and-rescue equipment, emergency manager salaries and backup power systems, among other expenses, according to 11 agency grant notices reviewed by Reuters.
