Coordination was a key topic, particularly regarding the completion of electrical works, energising certain substations, and synchronising these efforts with agricultural development schedules—especially planting seasons.
The meeting further addressed the construction of distribution networks and installation of transmission lines across various voltage levels, with particular attention to ensuring power supply for distribution panels serving irrigation pump stations. Special focus was given to the northern supply point at the Hammam pump stations.
Participants underlined the importance of adhering to project timelines and providing temporary power sources to meet immediate demands until transformer stations are fully completed and integrated into the national grid. These measures form part of a broader strategy to guarantee reliable electricity supply, implement sustainable energy solutions, maintain grid stability, and improve power quality.
Shaker directed that the current action plan be revised to reflect the critical need for a stable and continuous power supply. He called for accelerating the implementation of several transformer stations and highlighted the importance of close coordination among all stakeholders. To expedite technical work, he urged increasing work shifts and intensifying efforts related to tower installations along transmission line routes.
The Minister stressed the need to overcome any obstacles, reaffirming the priority of completing projects and starting operations as scheduled, given their central role in supporting agricultural development initiatives. He also confirmed readiness to supply electricity from nearby sources to ensure the timely start of production across all projects.
Shaker emphasised that meeting deadlines is integral to the state's sustainable development strategy and vision to create integrated agricultural, industrial, and urban communities. He reiterated the Ministry's commitment to ensuring reliable electricity access for all sectors, with a special focus on supporting land reclamation and agricultural projects to boost self-sufficiency in strategic crops.
He also highlighted the need to enhance energy system efficiency and implement both urgent and long-term solutions to stabilise the national grid and improve service quality. This includes expanding renewable energy use, optimising the performance of power generation stations, and securing adequate electricity supplies for new projects, particularly those linked to land reclamation, agro-industrial development, and greenhouse farming under the Mostakbal Misr initiative.
Shaker concluded by stressing that providing reliable electricity across all sectors is a cornerstone of sustainable development, essential for driving economic growth, attracting investment, and supporting the state's broader plans for industrial and agricultural expansion.

Local development minister explores digital transformation of Egyptian cities with Esri
Local Development Minister Manal Awad met with Richard Budden, Director of Local Governments and Smart Cities at global GIS leader Esri, to discuss strengthening the digital capabilities of Egyptian cities through advanced Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 2025 Esri International User Conference in San Diego, California. Also in attendance were Hisham El Helbawy, Assistant Minister for National Projects; Hossam Al Qawish, Assistant Minister for International Cooperation; and several Esri representatives. During the meeting, Awad highlighted the Ministry's conviction that cities are central to driving sustainable development. She stressed that equipping local administrations with accurate, real-time data is the first step towards achieving spatial justice and improving citizens' quality of life. She pointed to the 'Atlas of Egyptian Cities' as a successful model showing how GIS can transform local governance. The atlas, she explained, has enhanced the ability of local authorities to monitor demographic and climate changes, set service and investment priorities, and respond more effectively to emerging challenges. Awad noted that the Ministry is working to build the capacity of governorates to use GIS tools to identify development gaps, analyse service efficiency, and ensure more equitable resource allocation—particularly in medium and small cities, which need integrated and targeted interventions. She also underlined the importance of creating interactive digital platforms at the city level. These platforms, she said, would facilitate data exchange, support urban planning, enable knowledge sharing with global partners, and strengthen crisis response and resilient urban expansion efforts. Richard Budden praised the Ministry's progress in digital transformation and noted that the Atlas of Egyptian Cities has become an important reference for local governments globally on applying GIS in evidence-based policymaking. Budden reaffirmed Esri's commitment to supporting medium and small cities in developing countries and expressed readiness to tailor digital toolkits and platforms to fit the needs of Egyptian cities. He also welcomed the idea of launching training programmes in partnership with the Ministry to help create a new generation of planners and decision-makers skilled in using GIS for daily operations and strategic planning. Awad further emphasised the need to deepen integration between spatial planning tools and public budgeting processes to better align local development priorities with resource allocation. She invited Esri to collaborate on developing flexible, integrated tools to support this alignment. Concluding the meeting, she expressed hope to establish clear implementation steps for cooperation in areas such as local planning, urban monitoring, and managing urban growth. These efforts, she said, aim to build smart, inclusive, and resilient Egyptian cities in line with global sustainable development goals. Both sides agreed to expand technical cooperation between the Ministry of Local Development and Esri, guided by a joint roadmap focused on developing geographic platforms, urban tracking applications, and capacity building as part of Egypt's integrated development strategy.

Ministry of Sports organises second ‘UX Lab' of 2025 to enhance sports licensing services and streamline user experience
The Ministry of Sports held the second 'User Experience Lab' UX Lab of 2025 to enhance customer experience for sports clubs, companies, and all private‑sector sports institutions, with regard to obtaining four key sports licensing services – issuing, renewal, activity additions and data updates. The initiative is a part of the Ministry's ongoing efforts to enhance its services, aligning with the sports sector's digital transformation strategy, aimed at advancing the goals of the 'Zero Government Bureaucracy Programme'. It highlighted the challenges faced by private‑sector sports organisations when submitting license applications and familiarised them with the various services through a comprehensive simulation of the digital customer journey, analysis of current steps and procedures, as well as customer consultation. H.E. Ghanim Mubarak Al Hajeri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Sports, attended the event, along with technical teams from the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA), and the Ministry's Customer Happiness Office. At the end of the Lab, His Excellency honored the attendees representing the Ministry's private sector partners. Mr Mohammed Nasser Amer, Manager of Customer Happiness Office at the Ministry of Sports, reaffirmed that the 'UX Lab' is critical to ensuring user participation in service evaluation and redesign processes. He remarked: 'We strive to empower our partners in the national sports sector and private‑sector, ensuring that they play a key role in the development of the sports services ecosystem. Therefore, they are deeply aware of the present challenges and well-equipped to devise suitable solutions. Improving customer experiences is not just about simplifying the process, but also about designing an integrated and comfortable journey that meets customers' needs and aspirations, while delivering real benefit.' He further stated: 'This transformation needs to happen by analysing real-life user journeys, listening to user feedback and determining how to best leverage the Ministry's sports services with ease. Hence, we have organised the Lab to transform day-to-day challenges faced by private‑sector sports entities into opportunities, which can enhance the performance and quality of sports licensing services, in line with government directives, while supporting the broader sports investment ecosystem.' The event featured interactive one-hour sessions with representatives from across five private‑sector sports organisations. Each session showcased the complete licensing application journey, identifying potential improvements from the customers' perspective. In addition, solutions were proposed to streamline procedures, reduce steps and processing time of services, and enhance administrative integration, reinforcing sports governance excellence in the UAE. The Ministry of Sports is committed to implement exceptional initiatives across its work teams, with an aim of improving service standards and customer satisfaction. Awqaf Minister thanks President Sisi for supporting mosques, religious sites
Awqaf Minister Osama al-Azhari expressed gratitude to President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi for his keen interest in Al Al-Bayt mosques and general care for places of worship across Egypt, in line with the New Republic's standards. He made these remarks during the inauguration of the first phase of development at the Al-Arif Billah Sidi Ibrahim al-Desouki Mosque in Desouk, Kafr al-Sheikh, in northern Egypt. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Kafr al-Sheikh Governor Alaa Abdel Moaati, Egypt's Mufti Nazir Ayyad, Al-Azhar University President Dr. Salama Dawood, and other officials. This initiative is part of the Awqaf (Endowments) Ministry's plan to upgrade major mosques and religious sites, enhancing their cultural and service standards. The minister and his accompanying delegation performed Friday prayers at the mosque, where Imam Mohamed Soheil delivered a sermon titled 'Unity is Strength,' emphasizing community cohesion, unity, and love. The prayer was followed by a remembrance gathering and prayers for Egypt and the Arab and other Islamic nations, in an atmosphere of devotion and tranquility. Kafr El-Sheikh's Governor praised the visit, highlighting the state's ongoing support for religious sites. Dr. Dawood commended the Awqaf Ministry's leadership in caring for Ahl Al-Bayt mosques that are historically associated with or named after the family of the Prophet Muhammad. The first phase of the site's development, covering 5,000 square meters at a cost of six million LE, is now complete. It included the installation of granite and marble flooring, a central fountain, landscaping, parking facilities, visitor seating, and aesthetic protective fencing. The second phase will commence immediately to finalize the project. After the inauguration ceremony, the minister viewed a visual presentation of the development stages and encouraged sharing the documentary on the ministry's official channels, praising the efforts of those involved.
