Newcastle have rejected a bid from Liverpool for striker Alexander Isak, according to reports.
The 25-year-old Sweden striker has been training at his old club Real Sociedad this week amid reports he has asked Newcastle executives to explore a move away from the club.
He has been heavily linked with Liverpool, who are now reported to have made a bid for the player which Newcastle have knocked back. Isak still has three years left on his contract with Newcastle.
Neither club has commented on the matter.
Son Heung-min set for Tottenham farewell

Tottenham captain Son Heung-min has revealed he will leave the club this summer.
Son has spent the last decade at Spurs and achieved his goal of silverware in May when he helped them to Europa League success with a 1-0 victory over Manchester United.
It ended a 17-year trophy drought for the club and South Korea captain Son explained his decision to target a 'fresh challenge' during a press conference in his home country ahead of Tottenham's pre-season friendly with Newcastle on Sunday.
After Spurs arrived in Seoul on Friday, Son – following a remarkable 454 appearances and 173 goals for the north London club – confirmed his desire to depart this summer, with MLS outfit Los Angeles FC leading the race for his signature, the PA news agency understands.
Son told a press conference: 'Before we start, I wanted to say I have decided to leave the club this summer.
'Respectfully, the club is helping me with this decision.
'It was the most difficult decision I have made in my career, such amazing memories. It was so hard to make this decision.'
Spurs close in on Palhinha

Bayern Munich midfielder Joao Palhinha underwent a medical at Tottenham on Friday, the PA news agency understands.
Spurs are eager to boost their squad for new boss Thomas Frank ahead of the club's return to the Champions League this season and set their sights on the Portugal international.
Palhinha only signed for Bayern last summer from Fulham in a deal worth up to £47.4million but endured a difficult debut campaign and made only six starts in Bundesliga, which has opened the door for a return to the Premier League.
Talks between Tottenham and Bayern got under way on Thursday and PA understands an agreement was reached with Palhinha given the green light to undergo a medical ahead of the proposed move.
Lockyer nears football return
Former Luton captain Tom Lockyer has revealed he is 'four weeks away' from being allowed to play football again.
Lockyer has not played since suffering a cardiac arrest during Luton's Premier League game against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium in December 2023, while he collapsed on the field just seven months earlier during the Hatters' Sky Bet Championship play-off final win at Wembley against Coventry.
Lockyer, speaking ahead of Luton's opening Sky Bet League One fixture against AFC Wimbledon at Kenilworth Road, told Sky Sports: 'I haven't had a break, I've been working all the way through, just trying to get this ankle right and trying to get fit.
'But I've had a really good few weeks and hopefully now I'm four weeks away from getting signed off and told I'm allowed to play football again.'
Saints want more for Dibling

Everton are looking to sign Tyler Dibling but are well below Southampton's current valuation, the PA news agency understands.
The 19-year-old caught the eye during his breakthrough campaign, scoring four goals in 38 appearances in all competitions for the relegated side.
A number of Premier League clubs have tracked Dibling's progress and Everton have seen an initial approach in the region of £27million rejected by the Championship club.
The Toffees are reportedly ready to make another move for the England Under-21s international, but PA understands Saints want in excess of £40m for the academy graduate.

Russell Martin spoke scathingly about 'egos' and 'self-preservation' among his players after Rangers dropped two points at Motherwell on the opening day of the William Hill Premiership campaign. In a spectacular post-match summation of his players, Martin, whose side progressed to the Champions League third qualifying round against Viktoria Plzen with a 3-1 aggregate win over Panathinaikos on Wednesday, said: 'I'm very disappointed and a bit hurt and a bit angry at a lot of stuff I saw. 'Motherwell were really good, credit to them. But I said to the players, the problems haven't been tactical, yet. They've been mentality, about energy, about courage, intensity, aggression, to play. 'We haven't started games well enough in the first half in the two European games and then showed a bit more willingness to trust the detail in each other and work. 'And then today, we go ahead and play some OK stuff. Every time we get in the final third, we turn the ball over and make crazy decisions. 'They're either selfish decisions or they're based on anxiety, so we need to get to the bottom of that. 'Because there was far too much stuff that we haven't worked on or haven't seen. 'It's not me digging them out. I take full responsibility for it. But that hurts me more than anything. 'The problem should be tactical, it shouldn't be mentality. So we have too many guys that slip into self-preservation mode. And I think it's been a fact of this club for the last few years for sure. 'So when it's going well, you're all-in, you want to run, you want the ball. It's nice, but when it's not going well, you don't want to run so much, you pick and choose when you want to run. 'I said to players, I was very disappointed on their behalf that they didn't get the win at the end because we did everything we could to get the win,' he said. 'But again, that's down to quality also in these small situations and we'll keep working on that and sharpen that up. 'I think they gave themselves the opportunity to win, and that's where it starts with the effort and with the desperation to go forward and to punish them on their transitions and to really work extremely hard throughout the entire game. And after this unimpressive display in Lanarkshire, there is clearly and understandably still work to do for Martin's side, as they try to implement his possession-based philosophy. Motherwell's new boss Jens Berthel Askou, a former team-mate of Martin at Norwich taking charge of his first league game, will be pleased by the way his side kept going when it looked like it would not be their day. [[Rangers]] could quickly fall behind champions and Old Firm rivals Celtic, who host St Mirren on Sunday, following a game that took time to warm up. In the fourth minute Well keeper Calum Ward palmed a 25-yard free-kick from Tavernier around a post and Kieran Dowell headed Joe Rothwell's corner over the crossbar. Rangers were getting their aim in. Attacker Djeidi Gassama – who started in place of Findlay Curtis in the only change – curled a shot wide after taking a pass from Brazilian striker Danilo, who then clipped the bar with a shot from 25 yards. Lyall Cameron and Cyriel Dessers replaced Mohamed Diomande and Danilo and debutant Cameron got booked immediately for a foul on Lukas Fadinger before he tested Ward with a 25-yard drive. At the other end, Stamatelopoulos headed over from just under the bar from a tantalising cross from Just. However, with three minutes remaining Longelo burst too easily into the Gers box and when the ball was repelled, Johnny Koutroumbis returned it into the area, Just chested it back and Longelo drilled it low past Butland for a well-deserved equaliser. And only a fine save from the Ibrox keeper in added time from substitute Tom Sparrow prevented a defeat.

RB Leipzig 'REJECT' Newcastle's record £69.9m bid for Benjamin Sesko - in potential blow for Alexander Isak's hopes of a Liverpool move
Newcastle's search for Alexander Isak's successor has hit a snag - as RB Leipzig have reportedly rejected their opening bid for Benjamin Sesko. Toon submitted a club record bid of £69.9million for Sesko, 22, but have been told the structure of their offer is insufficient. It comes as a blow to Alexander Isak, whose hopes of a move to Liverpool likely hinge on Newcastle being able to install a capable replacement first. Mail Sport has exclusively reported that Liverpool plan to return with a second approach for Isak after having their initial bid of £100m quickly snubbed. Newcastle are looking at Sesko - who is also admired by Manchester United - as well as Brentford 's Yoane Wissa, who has refused to train in a ploy to force through a move. But they will have to improve their offer if they are to land Sesko, as The Athletic reports that their first has been rejected by RB Leipzig. On Saturday the club made an official bid for Sesko comprising of a £65.5million up-front fee plus an additional £4.4m in add-ons. That would smash the £60m they splashed on Isak from Real Sociedad in 2022. Sesko is apparently yet to make up his mind as to whether he would prefer to join Newcastle or United. However, reports from Sesko's native Slovenia claimed on Friday that Sesko would prefer a move to St James' Park this summer. United's interest has been led by director of recruitment Christopher Vivell, who previously worked with Sesko at RB Salzburg and described the 6ft 4in forward as having the potential to become one of the world's leading players. The Old Trafford club are said to have named Sesko their No 1 target in recent weeks, having previously been linked with a move for Aston Villa marksman Ollie Watkins. Meanwhile, Isak is now seemingly agitating for a move and did not join Newcastle on their pre-season tour of Asia. The club explained his absence with the excuse of a 'minor thigh injury' but his scans came back clear and he has been training at the facilities of his old club Real Sociedad. He has since returned to Tyneside. Howe admitted this week that he had not been made aware of Isak's plans to return to the Basque club for rehabilitation and that he had instead found out through media reports. 'I know where he is, really, through the media,' Howe told Mail Sport as Newcastle stopped in Seoul as part of their pre-season tour. 'From that perspective, it's difficult for me to go into any kind of detail. The situation is far from ideal and is quite complex.' Newcastle are holding out for a fee upwards of £150m for Isak, who has scored 52 goals combined in the last two seasons.
