Project manager tried to burn RM1mil cash during MACC raid
The raid was conducted at his Petaling Jaya home last Thursday (July 17).
MACC officers discovered thick smoke from the bathroom where the cash was being burnt. The raid also uncovered RM7.5mil in cash hidden in pillow boxes, along with luxury watches — Rolex, Omega, and Cartier — plus jewellery and gold coins.
Bernama reported that MACC deputy chief commissioner Datuk Seri Ahmad Khusairi Yahaya confirmed the arrest, stating the suspect could face charges under the Penal Code and the MACC Act.
Ahmad Khusairi said the suspect's attempt to destroy evidence is a serious offence under Section 201 of the Penal Code, punishable by up to seven years ' jail and a fine.
However, the main investigation focuses on bribery and corporate liability under Sections 16 and 17A of the MACC Act 2009. — July 19, 2025

The FBI will arrange for their return to Reeves, best known for his roles in action franchises like The Matrix and John Wick. Chilean prosecutors told reporters that Reeves had identified the watches as those stolen from his Los Angeles home during a string of high-profile burglaries in December 2023. The announcement was made as the Trump administration's Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, arrived in the South American country for meetings with Chilean officials about transnational crime, among other issues. Noem was also the victim of a robbery attributed to a Chilean national residing illegally in the US, when her purse was stolen last April at a Washington restaurant. Two charged with setting fire to Penang restaurant in RM34k damage case
GEORGE TOWN: A 32-year-old coffee shop assistant and a 37-year-old woman denied charges of deliberately setting fire to a local restaurant last week. Khoo Teng Chi and Joanne Lim entered their not-guilty pleas at the Sessions Court before Judge Irwan Suainbon after the charge was read in Mandarin. The duo allegedly used firecrackers to ignite Jing Zhang Restaurant & Bar, owned by a woman, resulting in RM34,800 in damages. The incident occurred at 5.19 am on July 23 at No. 10, Jalan Pahang. Prosecuted under Section 435 of the Penal Code, read with Section 34, they face up to 14 years' imprisonment and a fine if convicted. The court granted bail at RM8,000 each with one surety, requiring monthly police station check-ins and a prohibition against witness intimidation. Deputy public prosecutor Lee Jun Keong led the prosecution, while lawyer Muhammad Zulzarif Mohd Zakwan represented the accused, who assist at Lim's mother's food shop. - Bernama
