Now, MNS workers assault Pune man for ‘objectionable' social media post about Raj Thackeray
According to a Pune Times Mirror report, the man, identified as Kedar Soman, was allegedly beaten up by the MNS workers and later handed over to the police. The incident caused temporary tension in the area, prompting police intervention.
According to the report, Soman was tracked down by the MNS workers after he shared a post on social media criticising Raj Thackeray. Local police has taken Soman into custody and is probing the case to determine whether legal action will be taken against those involved, the report added.
A group of men, reportedly MNS workers, allegedly assaulted a shop owner for refusing to speak in Marathi on Tuesday in the Bhayander area of Maharashtra's Thane.
The viral video showed that the men slapped the shop owner several times after he was asked 'Which language is spoken in the state'. The shop owner's response, who was talking in Hindi, that 'all languages' infuriated the men who had visited his shop to buy food, as reported by PTI.
According to a Hindustan Times report, the incident occurred shortly after the Maharashtra government withdrew its orders on the implementation of the three-language policy in the state, which lead to the opposition terming it as 'Hindi imposition'.
The row over the three-language policy began when the Maharashtra government, on April 16, passed a resolution that mandated Hindi as the compulsory third language in Marathi and English-medium schools.
However, in response to the backlash, the government revised the policy on June 17 through an amended resolution, stating, 'Hindi will be the third language. For those who want to learn another language, at least 20 willing students are required.'
A committee will share its report on Maharashtra's three-language policy with the state government in three months, a Government Resolution (GR) by the Maharashtra School Education and Sports Department said.
According to the GR, the committee members will be appointed by the government soon.
The committee will study the report by the Dr Raghunath Mashelkar committee and discuss the issue with the concerned constituents, institutions, and people. The committee will study the other States and Union Territories that have adopted the National Education Policy 2020, news agency ANI reported.

Teacher's name printed as ‘Kutta' on Ration card, responds by barking at magistrate; old video resurfaces
A protest from 2022 is back in the spotlight after a video of a West Bengal teacher barking at a government official has gone viral on social media. The reason? His name was misprinted as 'Kutta'- Hindi for 'dog', on his ration card. The incident took place in Bankura district during a Duarey Sarkar camp, a West Bengal government outreach programme. Srikanti Kumar Dutta, a qualified teacher, had spent weeks trying to get the error corrected through official channels. Repeated visits, paperwork, and appeals went nowhere. 'I felt humiliated,' Mr Dutta had told NDTV in 2022. 'I had to go three times, but no one listened. I'm a qualified teacher, yet I haven't been called for any interview.' When even the camp's senior officials ignored his request, Dutta walked up to a car marked Executive Magistrate and began barking loudly — an act he later described as a desperate response to being repeatedly dismissed. 'If the person who made this mistake had 'Kutta' written next to his name, what would he have done?' he said. The act, recorded on video at the time, received limited attention then. But now, in 2025, the clip has resurfaced and gone viral, drawing renewed attention to the everyday bureaucratic delays citizens face. Dutta's name was eventually corrected two days after the protest. He thanked the media for amplifying his voice, saying, 'There must be thousands like me. Just look at the growing crowd at the correction counters- it speaks for itself.' Commenting on the video, a user wrote, 'Can imagine his level of frustration.' Another user wrote, 'Flaming protest..!! A 360 degree performance.' The third user commented on X, 'It's a very novel way of protest. He's actually drilled it in so well. Misspelling such a beautiful name as Dutta into Kutta is so horrifying. If I was this Dutta, I would have not only barked, but also bitten the BDO!'

He 'thanked" the MNS president for crediting him in reuniting the two brothers and said that Balasaheb Thackeray must be blessing him for the task which according to Raj Thackeray, even Balasaheb couldn't achieve. 'I am thankful to Raj Thackeray for giving me credit for bringing them together. Balasaheb Thackeray must be blessing me," he said while interacting with the media persons. The Chief Minister further took a veiled swipe at Shiv Sena (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray and said that while the Thackeray cousins organised the rally to celebrate Marathi, Uddhav chose to speak about politics 'out of frustration'. 'It was a victory rally for the Marathi language, but Uddhav Thackeray chose to speak about politics and how he was ousted from power. He delivered a ' rudali" (professional mourner) like speech.
