YouTuber Paul cruises past Chavez Jr

ANAHEIM, United States: YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul cruised to victory over Mexico's Julio Cesar Chavez Jr on Saturday in a one-sided cruiserweight bout in California.
Paul, whose last fight was a controversial clash with 58-year-old former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson in November, dominated from the outset to win by unanimous decision.
The 28-year-old influencer, who has earned millions from a string of lucrative contests in a ring career that has spanned 13 fights, had too much speed and power for Chavez Jr.
The three judges at ringside scored the 10-round fight 99-91, 97-93, 98-92 in Paul's favour.
Chavez Jr, the 39-year-old son of Mexican boxing great Julio Cesar Chavez, barely looked capable of mustering a response during a one-sided bout.
Chavez Jr failed to land a single punch in the opening round, a pattern that followed the remainder of the contest, with Paul easily outscoring the veteran of 63 professional fights.
Paul, who reportedly pocketed around US$40 million for his made-for-Netflix fight with Tyson last year, received around US$300,000 guaranteed from Saturday's bout.

Dortmund face Ramos challenge in Club World Cup clash

BORUSSIA DORTMUND will have to overcome 'superstar' Sergio Ramos and his winning mentality to reach the Club World Cup quarter-finals on Tuesday, said the German team's coach Niko Kovac. Former Real Madrid captain and four-time Champions League winner Ramos, 39, is Monterrey's defensive leader and Kovac highlighted the Spaniard's will to win and Monterrey's aggression. 'He's a superstar you know,' Kovac told a news conference Monday ahead of the last 16 clash against the Mexican side. 'All the players that are playing so long... it shows their mindset. They are winners, they want to win in every single training session, every single game, they want to be on the top level with every single pass in training,' continued the Croatian. 'He's a leader, as a leader you want to be as long as possible on a high stage. It's a little bit funny I'm now a coach and he's still a player -- but I think he will become a coach.' Ramos will do battle with Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy, who excelled this season and finished as the joint-top goalscorer in the Champions League with 13 strikes. The Guinea international is looking forward to taking on Ramos. 'It's going to be the first time, I'm looking forward to it, I want to play against Sergio Ramos, he's a great defender,' Guirassy told reporters. 'We will need to be strong, simply put.' Kovac said his team needed to be aware of the combative style Ramos and his team-mates will employ in Atlanta. 'The Latin American teams play robust football, with strong physicality -- football is a contact sport, we can't look it like basketball,' said Kovac. 'I see it in a positive way, it's the way I like to play. We have to adapt. 'One should not be provoked of course, but I told the players they have to defend themselves if they need to, I think the referees will have open eyes for that as well.' The coach has complained about the intense heat at the tournament, with the German side forced to play in early kick-offs under a blazing sun, but Tuesday's match at the air-conditioned Mercedes-Benz Stadium will offer his side some relief. 'I think maybe with my statements I sometimes can be a bit annoying when I talk about certain factors that are repeated,' said Kovac. 'I can confidently say we're looking forward to tomorrow, the conditions will be better. We don't have to play in 45 degrees Celsius. 'We've proved we can play high intensity football and this is what we want to do when it's a bit cooler and the conditions are not so hot.'

Inter Milan captain Martinez criticises team after Club World Cup exit

INTER MILAN captain Lautaro Martinez did not hold back after Monday's 2-0 loss to Fluminense, criticising a lacklustre display as they exited the Club World Cup in the last 16. Inter were stunned by a resilient Fluminense side, with the Italians failing to pose a real threat until the closing stages, leaving striker Martinez frustrated as he called on his teammates to show greater commitment. 'I want to fight for the major titles. Anyone who wants to stay at Inter, fine, let's fight. But anyone who doesn't want to stay can leave,' the Argentine told reporters. 'We need players who want to be here. We're wearing an important shirt. We need a top-level mentality, or please leave.' Inter arrived at the revamped Club World Cup as title contenders but, aside from a 2-0 win over River Plate in the group stage, the Serie A side had an inconsistent campaign —beating Japan's Urawa Red Diamonds with a last-minute winner and being held to a 1-1 draw by Mexican side Monterrey. Their last-16 exit adds to a frustrating season in which they failed to win domestic silverware and were crushed 5-0 by Paris St Germain in last month's Champions League final. 'It was a long and tiring season, we finished empty-handed. It is a general message,' Martinez added. 'In order to stay up there and fight for titles, we must be eager ... I apologise to the fans who came here to follow us closely. I am the captain and I want to keep things at the top.' Inter will kick off their Serie A campaign at home to Torino in August.
