Fold Taps Blackhawk to Bring Bitcoin Gift Cards to Over 400K Retailers

Bitcoin financial services company Fold is working with publicly traded prepaid gift-card provider Blackhawk Network to widen distribution of its BTC gift card, the companies announced Thursday. Fold—which began trading publicly on the Nasdaq Composite in February under the ticker FLD—lets customers accrue Bitcoin rewards by using its services. They can also buy BTC through the platform without fees. "By making Bitcoin available as a gift card, we're opening access to the millions of consumers who already buy, send, and use gift cards," Fold Chairman and CEO Will Reeves said. "It's about meeting people where they are and integrating Bitcoin into the financial tools and channels they already understand," he continued, adding that by working with Blackhawk, Bitcoin would find access to the $300 billion U.S. gift card market. Fold first debuted its card in May as a way for consumers to give Bitcoin as a gift in a user-friendly format that doesn't require an understanding of crypto wallets. The initiative reflects the growing efforts of digital asset firms and other companies to provide cryptocurrency-focused services to a wider range of people. The card allows people to give people the leading cryptocurrency in physical form. The crypto can then be transferred to wallets. Recipients redeem their gift card through the Fold App and other platforms. Fold said that it was adding online retailers to its network. Fold's deal with Blackhawk will mean the gift card will be available to potentially over 400,000 shops and e-commerce platforms. A Fold spokesperson told Decrypt that the idea was "to make Bitcoin as accessible and flexible as possible for both new and experienced users." Bitcoin Whales Bought 1% of Circulating BTC Supply in Past 4 Months Fold is among the few digital assets companies to be publicly traded. Fold last year announced plans to go public via a special purpose acquisition company agreement (SPAC) with FTAC Emerald Acquisition Corp. The deal valued the firm at $365 million. Bloomberg last week reported that Chicago-based private equity firm GTCR was in talks to acquire Blackhawk. Bitcoin has made increasing inroads with the mainstream after last year's SEC's approval of crypto ETFs. Such funds trade on stock exchanges and allow people to buy shares that track the price of the asset. Crypto-friendly President Donald Trump also established a Bitcoin strategic reserve, highlighting the administration's acceptance of the asset. Samsung confirms earlier launch for Galaxy S25 FE, teases more big releases for 2025

SammyGuru TL;DR Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy S25 FE will launch earlier this year. An August or early September release is likely, meaning it could go on sale well before October. The company also shared its plans to launch its first tri-fold phone, XR headset, new entry-level Galaxy A phones, and the Galaxy Tab S11 series later in 2025. Samsung has just released its Q2 2025 financial results, and along with the numbers came a preview of what's next for the tech giant's mobile division. Among the most notable revelations, Samsung confirmed that the Galaxy S25 FE is coming earlier than last year. Daniel Araujo, VP of Samsung's Mobile Experience division, stated during the earnings call: For the Galaxy S25 series, we will focus on maintaining sales momentum with seasonal promotions as well as an earlier launch of the S25 FE. This points to a potential August or early September reveal for the phone, pulling it ahead of the Galaxy S24 FE's late September 2024 launch and subsequent October release. The earlier timeline for the Galaxy S25 FE launch may be part of Samsung's broader strategy to make room for a packed release schedule later in the year. The company also confirmed during the call that it plans to unveil several other high-profile devices in the second half of 2025, including its first-ever 'tri-fold' smartphone. Samsung also said that its long-anticipated Project Moohan XR headset is on track to launch later this year alongside new entry-level models in the Galaxy A series, presumably including the recently leaked Galaxy A17. The next-generation Galaxy Tab S11 series is also coming, as Samsung confirmed to Android Authority back in July. Follow

iPhone Fold leaker just spilled the beans on screen sizes — and it's worse than we thought

If rumors are to be believed, Apple will finally dive into the foldable phone market in 2026 with the much-rumored iPhone Fold. Rumors have been all over the place when it comes to the the screen size of this unreleased device, but seemed to have settled on around 7.7 inches for the interior panel. That claim was backed up today (July 25) by regular leaker Digital Chat Station, who posted on Weibo that the iPhone Fold would feature a 7.7-inch unfolded screen and a cover display of 5.49-inches. This isn't the first time Digital Chat Station has made that claim, previously saying it came from an iPhone Fold prototype. "The screen size of the first foldable iPhone has been revealed," DCS said in this most recent machine-translated post. "5.5-inch outer screen + 7.7-inch inner screen." They added that the current prototype has shrunk a bit from the February version. It's an iota smaller than recent rumors that had the device featuring a 7.8-inch internal display, similar to numbers from Apple supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who reported the same measurements back in March. Kuo also believes the phone will measure between 9 and 9.5mm thick when folded and 4 and 4.5mm when opened. While thin, the iPhone Fold would be thicker than the Galaxy Z Fold 7 which measures 4.2mm when unfolded and 8.9mm closed. If those numbers are true it would additionally make Apple's device smaller than a number of the best foldable phones available including Samsung's newly released Fold, which features an 8-inch unfolded screen and a 6.5-inch exterior display. The upcoming Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold — which we're expecting to see at Google's August 20 event — is supposed to feature a 6.4-inch exterior display while retaining the same 8-inch inner screen as the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. The Oppo Find N5 features a huge 8.12-inch inner display alongside a 6.62-inch front screen. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. The iPhone Fold's smaller screen may not be a deal breaker, as rumors hint that Apple is looking for customized display ratio of 4:3, similar to the iPad. This would make the foldable iPhone more familiar to Apple fans who have used iPads before. Plus, Apple is reportedly developing iOS 27 for foldable phones which takes inspiration from the latest version of iPadOS. Apple is years behind its rivals when it comes to foldable phones, but the company is allegedly obsessed with only releasing one once a creaseless display was possible. Reportedly, that finally became possible thanks to a partnership with Samsung Display.
