Express bus driver, three passengers fined for not wearing seat belts in Terengganu JPJ operation
Terengganu JPJ director Zamri Samion said a total of 85 express and tour buses were inspected during the period following the enforcement of the new directive, which makes compulsory the wearing of seat belts by drivers and passengers of express and tour buses.
'We found the level of compliance was very good, where only four summonses were issued, to a bus driver and three express bus passengers,' he said during the operation in Chendering near here, last night.
To further increase awareness and compliance, Zamri said the department would hold a meeting with express bus and tour bus operators next week for more intensive advocacy purposes.
'JPJ will not compromise on any safety-related issues, and strict action will be taken against those who fail to comply with regulations and laws,' he said.
According to him, any complaints related to the issue of wearing seat belts can be made via the MyJPJ application or by email to [email protected]. — Bernama

KUALA LUMPUR, July 5 — The Immigration Department (JIM) has detained 1,005 employers for allegedly hiring or harbouring undocumented migrants between January 1 and July 3 this year. JIM director-general Datuk Zakaria Shaaban said the arrests involved employers from various sectors, including restaurants, factories and retail shops, with most of them being locals found sheltering foreign nationals without valid documents. During the same period, JIM conducted 6,913 nationwide operations, screening 97,322 foreign nationals and arresting 26,320 individuals for suspected immigration offences. Zakaria said enforcement would continue to be intensified, with no compromise on undocumented migrants. The department is also monitoring over 200 identified hotspots across the country, including remote and rural areas. He added that public outreach events like today's programme, which drew over 800 participants, would be continued to strengthen public engagement. Form Four student dies in Shah Alam crash, another injured after motorcycle hits divider
SHAH ALAM, July 5 — A Form Four student was killed while another sustained injury after the motorcycle they were riding lost control and crashed into a road divider at Persiaran Sukan, Section 13 here at 9.45pm yesterday. Shah Alam police chief ACP Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said initial investigations revealed the accident occurred when the two male students from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Seksyen 9 were riding near Ramly Halal Mart in Section 13 and allegedly lost control of the motorcycle. 'The motorcycle is believed to have struck the road divider, causing both the rider and the pillion passenger to be thrown onto the roadway,' he said in a statement today. The rider suffered severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, while the pillion passenger sustained neck injuries and leg wounds. He was taken to Shah Alam Hospital for treatment. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Trader loses RM600,000 in bogus online investment scheme

(Bernama pic) SEREMBAN : A frozen food trader lost more than RM600,000 after falling victim to an online business investment scheme last month. Nilai police chief Abdul Malik Hasim said they received a report from the victim, a man in his early 50s, at 1.17pm today. 'The man said he had dealings with an individual who offered him an investment opportunity on April 21. He was instructed to register an eBay account to begin investing in a business and sell goods via his own online store. 'The victim then transferred funds into 19 different bank accounts, making a total of 43 transactions amounting to RM677,890,' Malik said in a statement tonight. Malik said the victim only realised he had been scammed after he was unable to withdraw both his profit and initial capital.
