Cheeky racegoer's scene-stealing moment during live horse racing TV coverage
A cheeky racegoer pulled off a scene-stealing moment during live horse racing coverage on Saturday. The week long Galway Festival is one of the highlights of Ireland's racing calendar which features seven consecutive days of Flat and jumps action and is renowned for its lively atmosphere.
Day six of the marathon meeting had concluded with the Kevin Coleman-trained Thatwilldoso winning the 1m4f handicap, run at 6.05pm. On course RacingTV presenters Fran Berry and Donn McLean were wrapping up the day's action when unbeknown to them their broadcast was being photo-bombed.
Berry had no idea until after he finished he started receiving messages alerting him to what had been going on in the background.
He took a sceen shot of the clip and posted it on his social media with the message, 'Protests about the toilet roll shortage in Galway have intensified'.
Among the best responses were 'cracking selfie', 'some craic' and 'first-time cheekpieces, Fran'.
Berry told Mirror Racing: 'It was quite noisy by the last race on Saturday with a syndicate-owned horse having won. We were positioned inside the winners' ring and there was a lot of cheering going on.
'As we were doing a wrap we were completely unaware of what happened behind us. As soon as we finished up I got a lot of WhatsApp message with pictures and video of the lad in question.
'It's the nature of Galway, you can see everything and anything. There was no malice, it was just lads on a day out having too good a time. It was all taken in good humour.'
He added: 'There was no toilet roll shortage by the way, it was just a caption to go with it.
'Galway is very easy going, the three lads looked to be enjoying themselves and no harm was done.'

Eve chases after her to talk about the situation, and during their heart-to-heart, agrees to support Avani's decision to have an abortion. A move that will devastate Suki. Riverdale's Lili Reinhart stars in the upcoming crime thriller, American Sweatshop, which showcases the psychological toll placed on social media moderators in the age of doom-scrolling A new crime thriller starring a Riverdale alum Lili Reinhart shows the human - and often harrowed faces - of social media moderators. The upcoming film delves into the emotional toll of stripping the internet of its most obscene content and the responsibility of social media platforms to report crimes. In American Sweatshop, Reinhart plays the role of Daisy Moriarty, a social media moderator tasked with purging the internet of offensive content. But when Daisy spots a video involving a woman, a hammer and a nail, she sets on an obsessive quest to hold someone accountable. 'My first ticket of the morning is a beheading,' says Reinhart's character in the trailer's opening. 'Oh yeah, I've seen that one,' replies her colleague. The exchange showcases the corporate mundanity and apathy highlighted in the one hour and 40 minute-film, before it takes a dramatic and sinister turn. The trailer comes after everyone in the UK with WhatsApp put on red alert and told to follow three new rules. American Sweatshop is directed by Uta Briesewitz, who has worked on Westworld, Stranger Things and Severance. The film is written by Matthew Nemeth and is set for release in the US on September 19, 2025. No UK release date has yet been announced. The film premiered in March at the 2025 SXSW festival in Austin Texas. According to Mashable, American Sweatshop is a 'cyberthriller for the doom-scrolling age'. The psychological toll experienced by social media moderators has gained greater attention in recent years as anonymous workers have opened up about their work in organisations like TikTok and Facebook. In a 2023 Guardian article, one anonymous moderator explained how difficult the job could be. They said they were judged on how quickly they moderated and described the training as 'overwhelming'. 'In the video queue you have no control over what you receive,' shared the anonymous moderators. They described a typical selection of the videos in their queue as including phishing and scam videos, hardcore pornography, Get-Ready-With-Mes posted by underaged users, livestream recordings and doxxed information followed by threats of violence. Just two years prior, a then 26-year-old former Facebook moderator named Isabella told the BBC that 'everyday was a nightmare' and said the support she was offered was 'insufficient'. 'The high priority queues - the graphic violence, the child stuff, the exploitation and the suicides, people working from home don't get that - the burden is put on us,' said Isabella. Rodrygo 'makes decision on future' amid Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham transfer links
Rodrgyo has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League after appearing to be frozen out by Xabi Alonso at Real Madrid, but the Brazilian reportedly believes he can still be a success at the Bernabeu Real Madrid star Rodrygo has reportedly decided to stay and fight for his place at the Bernabeu this season, despite strong interest from Premier League clubs Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham. The Brazilian has looked destined for the exit door in the Spanish capital this summer after appearing to fall down the pecking order under boss Xabi Alonso, who benched him for the team's Club World Cup semi-final defeat to PSG. When asked why he made that decision, Alonso said he needed "different players" for the game, but said he hadn't made a final call about the winger's future yet. Rodrygo's path to first team football certainly looks challenging, with Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius the first choice forwards, while youngsters like Endrick and Gonzalo Garcia will also be pushing for places too. But according to Spanish outlet AS, Rodrygo is now "banking" on a stay with Madrid, believing he has enough quality to add to Alonso's existing options. Arsenal looked like frontrunners to sign the winger but have since snapped up Noni Madueke, so a path to the Emirates looks blocked. Liverpool have also spent plenty of cash this summer - with their summer spending totalling nearly £300m - so it's unlikely they would have the cash to bring in Rodrygo as they focus on a move for £150m-rated Alexander Isak. And Tottenham already have Brennan Johnson and new signing Mohammed Kudus on the wings, so it doesn't look like they have any room for him either. The report claims there has been "no signs of a move away" and "no significant offers" from elsewhere, giving Rodrygo little option but to stay put for now. It says Rodrygo is convinced he can persuade Alonso he fits into his system at the Bernabeu and earn the manager's trust. AS goes on to claim that Madrid have never pushed him towards the exit door and only would have considered a transfer if they received an offer of £78m or more. Rodrygo has become a popular figure in Madrid since his £40m move in 2018 as a teenager and he has gone on to play 270 times for the club, scoring 68 times and winning 13 trophies.
