Action against Shine will be decided after ICC report, says film chamber

The Hindu25-04-2025
The Kerala Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) has stated that a decision on the action to be taken against actor Shine Tom Chacko over the allegations of drug abuse and misbehaviour raised against him by actor Vincy Aloshious will be taken after receiving the report of the internal complaints committee (ICC) of the movie Soothravakyam.
The KFCC is the co-ordinating body of the monitoring committee set up against workplace harassment of women in the Malayalam film industry. The ICC of the movie will submit its report before the committee for follow-up action.
Allegation raised
Vincy had alleged that Shine had misbehaved with her on the set of Soothravakyam and was found spitting a white powder while rehearsing a scene.
Saji Nanthiattu, general secretary of the KFCC, said on Friday that the ICC was expected to submit the report within 10 days of launching the probe into the complaints. The chamber has made it already clear that it will not be lenient in the fight against drug menace on film sets and those responsible for such violations will feel the heat, he said.
He criticised the meeting between Mr. Chacko and the leadership of the Film Employees Federation of Kerala in Kochi on Tuesday. After the meeting, the federation representatives had announced that the actor would be given one more chance for a course correction. 'I feel it was inappropriate for the federation to have made such a statement, especially when the ICC's probe was progressing,' he said.
As job providers, it remains the mandate of the producers to take such a call after analysing the complaints related to professional misconduct. The presence of the producer of Soothravakyam at the meeting was also unwarranted, he said.

Salman Khan, Mahesh Narayanan In Advanced Talks For 70s-Era Action Period Thriller: Report

Last Updated: Salman Khan may soon team up with Mahesh Narayanan for a 70s-set action thriller. The duo has had multiple meetings and talks are now in the final stages. Salman Khan, who is currently gearing up for his ambitious project Galwan with director Apoorva Lakhia, is already planning his next big move. As he preps for the Ladakh shoot scheduled later this month, the superstar is actively meeting filmmakers to lock in future projects and one of the most exciting names in the mix is Malayalam director Mahesh Narayanan. According to a report in Pinkvilla, Salman and Mahesh have already had around four to five meetings, with the latest one taking place just a week ago in Mumbai. The discussions are reportedly centered around a period action thriller, a genre Salman has rarely explored in his three-decade-long career. 'Salman Khan and Mahesh Narayanan have been jamming on multiple ideas, and Salman has given a go-ahead to the filmmaker on a period-thriller with action. The film in discussion will be set in the 1970s to 1990s, and Mahesh will now come back for a full-length narration," the source told Pinkvilla. The project is said to be very different from Salman's usual fare. 'Be it Galwan, or the Mahesh Narayanan directorial—Salman is looking to explore new genres now, that challenge him. There will be a 100 percent clarity on the Mahesh Narayanan film before the end of this year," the source added. In parallel, the actor is also in touch with his frequent collaborator Kabir Khan. 'The duo is jamming on multiple ideas, and have a definite intent to collaborate. The discussions are happening across genres—from stylish action thrillers to high-octane dramas, and of course, the much-anticipated Bajrangi Bhaijaan sequel," the insider revealed. What's piquing fans' curiosity is the unique tone and setting of Mahesh's proposed film. 'It's a character in a world that Salman has not explored before. The things look positive at the moment for this collaboration," the source concluded. If things go as planned, Salman will wrap up Galwan by November or December 2025, and Mahesh Narayanan is expected to finish his Malayalam commitments in parallel. The two could come together for this exciting new project in 2026. First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Please keep discussions respectful and constructive. Kathir Interview: I don't want audience to be prejudiced against my films

They say you can only do a thing for the first time once, and Kathir had his acting debut with Madha Yaanai Koottam in 2013. 12 years later, he is back to doing the same thing for the first time, again. Meesha, his maiden Malayalam film, hit screens on August 1, and the actor is a bundle of nerves. This might sound strange as we are talking about someone who has proved his acting credentials, courtesy of his performances in Pariyerum Perumal, Vikram Vedha, and Suzhal. Still, Kathir believes every film is a new chapter and every role a new opportunity to redefine himself. Excited and nervous about his Malayalam entry, Kathir calls it a chance to reinvent and experience the magic of a 'first time' all over again. Excerpts:
