He shared a photo of himself sitting on a train with his hand over his face, and captioned it: 'Until recently, I had spent most of my life as an addict.
'Shame was interwoven into my addictive behaviours — they went hand-in-hand.
'Through therapy and finally admitting to myself that I'd suffered from addiction pretty much my entire life, I'm so happy to share I've been 'sober' for over a year, if that is indeed how to describe my case.'
He continued: 'Despite living with it silently, secretly for decades… undiagnosed and untreated, it might well in the end have ruined my life.'
Ore, 39, said a turning point came while reading UNAPOLOGETIC by performance coach Annalie Howling, whose work on the topic of shame struck a deep chord.
'Funnily enough I didn't recognise the timing until I started reading this unbelievable book… I devoured it in a day…
'And while her expertise is on shame, pretty much every word Annalie said resonated so deeply with me that I realised I'd actually forgotten I'd made so much progress in the last 12 months.'
The presenter, who won Strictly in 2016, also reflected on a recent video he posted about being scammed.
He revealed how the experience brought up old feelings of shame but that he's now better equipped to handle them.
He added: 'I did feel ashamed of myself for being scammed, yes… but I know now how to deal with those moments of doubt and I pop that little bout of negative talk into a bin bag and throw it in the trash.
Loose Men's Ore Oduba reveals he broke down in tears yesterday while suffering his first panic attack
'I have such a much better relationship with that word now than I used to.'
Oduba also hinted that he may speak in greater detail about his experience with addiction, saying he's begun opening up to friends.
'The more I open up about it, the more compelled I feel to share it publicly one day.
'There comes a point where, once I've dealt with my demons, the most selfish thing I could do is keep it to myself. I know it'll have the power to help a lot of people.'
In October, Ore confirmed that he and wife Portia had split earlier in the year after nine years of marriage.
He said: 'Hi guys. Portia and I are sad to announce that we separated earlier this year.
'We're so grateful for all the love you've shared with us both over the years.
'And we want to thank you in advance for respecting our privacy as we navigated this difficult transition.
'We will be making no further comment. Be kind, always.'
Ore and Portia met while studying at Loughborough University in 2010 and tied the knot five years later in a romantic ceremony at Penshurst Place in Kent.
Reflecting on their big day, Ore previously told The Mirror: 'On my wedding day I cried from 11 in the morning until 2am that night.
'There's a picture of me wailing, my best men there laughing and Portia absolutely cracking up next to me — I am the only one crying.'
The presenter, who is currently starring in stage play Picture You Dead, has been open about his mental health in the past.
He shared that he suffered a panic attack before speaking on Loose Women in 2016.

BBC Wales' Lynda Shahwan dies aged 53 following car accident

The car accident took place while Shahwan was on holiday in Canada with her family, according to the BBC. The 53-year-old, who hails from Heath (in Cardiff), created and co-presented Terry Walton's Plotcast. The podcast, which was regarded by the BBC as "one of Wales' most popular", saw the pair give "down-to-earth" advice on growing fruit and veg from Walton's allotment in the Rhondda Valley Shahwan had worked for Radio Wales for more than 25 years. Walton led the tributes to Lynda Shahwan following her death. Speaking via the BBC, he said: "We pass our sympathies on to Lynda's husband Sharif, their two sons and all of the family on the tragic and sudden taking of Lynda from us far too soon. "My last two years of working with Lynda on the Plotcast were the most fulfilling and cherished broadcasting I have done. "Our chemistry and her creative talent made every episode a gem of gardening knowledge. Such fun whilst still being very informative. "Her professionalism and easy going manner made every recording a pleasure and brought the best out of us both. "We became true friends and after recording we would both relax and discuss many aspects of life." Devastated by this news. Lynda Shahwan was one of the loveliest, most talented people I've ever worked with. A wonderful friend and colleague at BBC Wales, who has died while on holiday in Canada. Thoughts are with Sharif and all the Head of Radio Wales Carolyn Hitt added: "Lynda was a very special person. "Since she began her career with Radio Wales in 1999 she made a brilliant impact on the station, on and off air, working across almost all of our output. "For several years, Lynda was Roy Noble's fellow presenter on his morning show, where he affectionately christened her 'The Lily from Caerphilly'. "More recently, Lynda was back in front of the mic once more, this time with Terry Walton, co-presenting and producing her fantastic passion project the Plotcast – just one of the many examples of her creativity and innovation. "We are all devastated at Radio Wales at the sudden loss of our much-loved colleague and friend and our hearts go out to Lynda's husband Sharif – who is also a much-loved colleague - their two sons and all their family and friends." Neighbours legend Alan Fletcher reveals secrets of show's final EVER episode as soap says goodbye again

FINAL CUT Neighbours legend Alan Fletcher reveals secrets of show's final EVER episode as soap says goodbye again NEIGHBOURS legend Alan Fletcher claims fans of the soap will "adore" the final ever episode when it airs in December. The long-running Australian show previously called it a day in 2022 before Amazon MGM Studios intervened and gave it a new lease of life. Alan, who has played Dr Karl Kennedy for 31 years, believes executive producer Jason Herbison has crafted the perfect goodbye though, one which is very different from the last farewell. For its initial swansong, legends of the show's past returned, including Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan and Guy Pearce, delivering a heavy dose of nostalgia. In an exclusive interview with The Sun, Alan, 68, says: "He wanted to create episodes that were full of hope and full of community and the strength of community. And he's achieved it immaculately. "And, of course, he could never go anywhere near where we went last time. Now, that's done, that type of episode. So it's been really, really fantastic to work on this last ending. "I know the fans are going to love it. It'll go to air in December and it'll be adored." Having been saved once, fans might be holding out hope that another production company will intervene, but Alan doesn't think it's likely. "It'd be lovely if a TV saviour came along and said, 'oh no, let's keep Neighbours going', but I don't think that's very likely," he says. His feelings towards Neighbours' retirement is very different this time round, with disappointment now replaced by satisfaction. A modern filming style and fresh team reinvigorated the programme and the product was noticeably more refined. I collapsed after being rescued from terrifying drowning on Neighbours set, reveals Karl Kennedy star Alan Fletcher "The first time around, I was gutted," he says. "I was gutted for the fans, I was gutted for everyone losing their job, but partly I was gutted because I felt like Neighbours had unfinished business. "And when Amazon bought the show back, suddenly the show was revitalised. It had a new energy, a new crew, and I think it just looked a million times better. We changed the way we shot the show. "So by the time we got to the end this time, I think a lot of us just looked at each other and went, you know, we have just made 400 episodes of the highest quality TV drama that you could do on the budget. "If you think about how many shows are on Netflix that maybe do 16 or 13 shows in a season, we've done a hell of a lot of episodes, and they have been superb. So I just think we felt very proud at the end." While there's plenty of action to air between now and December, Karl's already been at the heart of some dark and challenging plotlines this year. He's fought to save his marriage to wife Susan as well as his health after growing addicted to painkillers, something that Susan's doctor nephew Darcy exploited. "This is what we crave as actors, of course, because it gave, it gave a really great opportunity to explore Karl's flaws," says Alan. "We've all perhaps seen the series Dopesick about who becomes addicted to painkillers and Karl gets stuck in that maelstrom. But he doesn't want to be in it. He actually genuinely believes he's shaken his addiction. 5 Alan has played Karl for 31 years Credit: Rex 5 His latest single is called Back To School Credit: Lime Tree Music "And then, of course, Darcy drugs him in a way by giving him painkillers without him knowing it. Yeah, a great, clever story and a wonderful way to finish up on the show." Alan is currently in the UK and Ireland on a 34-date music tour, playing his honest and occasionally comedic brand of Americana, alongside his band, which includes his wife of 35 years, Jennifer Hansen. Though the music is his sole focus, he's also on the lookout for a UK TV agent that could get him some roles on our shores. "Like a lot of Aussie actors, I would crave to come and work in the UK," he admits. "And I'm looking to try and find myself a UK agent because I think the UK makes some of the best television in the world. "I think in terms of comedy, which I love to be involved in, the Brits are like the Australians. "We do understand satire and so there's incredibly sharp and witty television made here. And in terms of drama, the thing I really love about being in the UK is seeing how older actors, and I put myself in that bracket now, how older actors really get a good run on television and film. And some of the best UK actors, of course, are the older contingents. "You know, you name Judi Dench and so forth and Olivia Colman. It's not something that happens in Australia so much. Generally, the main roles are taken by younger people. So, you know, I'd crave to work here." Before that comes to pass, Alan is on the promo trail for his latest single, Back To School, a poignant ballad on how to nurture a loving relationship. "The title was about what I've learnt in studying philosophy, that love is something you can't take for granted, you have to really look at it," says Alan. "I mean, that's a bit of a cliche, but a lot of people don't spend the time. So it's really saying, let's get back to school and learn how to love. "It's a very musical, laid-back track, and it gets a great reaction from people." Both Alan and Jen went back to school, as it were, when they attended a lecture on love by philosopher Alain de Botton that helped to improve their own relationship. "It was quite transformative for us, because it reminds us that perfect love is a bit of an 18th century creation," says Alan. "And in reality, we all love each other's flaws, rather than trying to change each other. "And once we heard that, and kind of accepted that, and went, 'yes, absolutely, that's what it is'. So now if either one of us in the relationship do something that the other one would normally think is annoying or troublesome, now we look at it and go, 'oh, it's adorable that you do that'. 5 The tour comprises of 34 dates and is underway now Credit: Lime Tree Music "So just accepting that we are who we are, and trying to change people, mold them to be the perfect human being, is a waste of time." At the tail end of last year Alan also released a classic slice of Americana in Tell 'Em, a duet with Jennifer that tells the tale of lost love. "It really is the first cut, the deepest I suppose, that notion of the first relationship you have and how it kind of never leaves you, even though you break up and move on with your life and you have other loves, there's some little tiny part of you that's still wishes that somehow you've been able to work it out all those years ago. "So essentially just saying, look, I know we'll never be together, but I just think of you all the time, or in flashes." Both tracks will be joining Alan on his tour which is taking place now and runs until September. Amy Dowden admits she was 'deluded' to think she was ready for Strictly comeback

EXCLUSIVE: Amy Dowden talks about returning to Strictly, menopause, IVF and marriage to Ben as she discusses life after chemotherapy and finding her new normal When she rang the bell to mark the end of her breast cancer treatment, Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden thought her nightmare would end. Instead she found herself at an 'all time low' as she came to terms with her new reality - she was bald, menopausal and too weak to dance. ‌ Amy told The Mirror: 'I thought my life was going to get back to normal. I was deluded. I honestly thought that I'd be back dancing on Strictly in no time and that my hair was going to grow back far quicker than it did. I thought that I'd be back to the old Amy, and it hit me really hard. I was scared and petrified. It was a very daunting, difficult time as well as being put into menopause.' ‌ Amy had been diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2023, less than a year after marrying her husband Benjamin Jones. She was 32 and preparing for a new series of Strictly. Almost immediately, she had a mastectomy, followed by IVF two weeks later to try and preserve her chances of having a family. ‌ Amy said: 'I started IVF treatment two weeks after the mastectomy. I was still recovering from surgery and then that was another journey. And then two weeks after I started chemo.' After eight rounds of chemotherapy, Amy completed her treatment and rang the bell. Sadly it didn't herald an instant change in fortune and just a few days later Amy broke her foot, compounding her fears she'd never dance again. Amy said: 'A few days later I broke my foot. I felt more of a cancer patient than ever. I felt isolated and lonely. And I didn't know what my life ahead was going to be.' ‌ Menopause is a notoriously difficult time for any woman, but coming after chemotherapy, it left Amy exhausted, emotional and suffering debilitating hot flushes. She said: 'When I finished treatment, I actually hit an all time low. I went from this super fit young lady used to the spotlight and hair and make up to not liking to look in the mirror. But also there was a voice in my head saying, 'Cancer can't take away your dancing.'' Amy has always dreamed of being a mother and thanks to the IVF wedged in between her mastectomy and chemotherapy, she has five frozen embryos that could hold the key to her future happiness. ‌ However, doctors have warned Amy that even though she's cancer free, she cannot yet risk undergoing IVF as the hormones she would have to take could raise her risk of the cancer returning. Amy said: 'I always wanted the honour of being a mother. My oncologist said he won't speak to me about it yet. It's too soon. We were lucky enough to get five embryos, but right now, it's still too soon. I only finished active treatment just over a year ago. My body has just got to recover first, hopefully.' Amy is sharing her recovery story after making a short film called Beyond the Bell, which is part of the Keep Ahead campaign from Novartis Pharmaceuticals UK, to shed light on life post-breast cancer. ‌ While ringing the bell might appear as a moment of joy for people outside of cancer treatment, Amy wants to prepare people going through treatment for the reality. Last year (2024), Amy triumphantly re-joined Strictly Come Dancing and was partnered with singer JB Gill. However, she was forced to withdraw in November with a stress fracture, and was replaced by Lauren Oakley, who made it to the finals with JB. ‌ In hindsight, Amy realises her return to Strictly was too soon for her physically - though she believes dancing on the show was vital to her mental and emotional recovery. Amy said: 'I went back to Strictly far too early last year because I just wanted to get what I thought was my normal back. I needed it mentally to go back, otherwise I don't think I would have ever gone back. I needed that normality. I couldn't have watched another series from the sofa. It was killing me. Physically I wasn't ready, but I thought I was. The BBC put so much in place to ease me back in gradually and I'm so grateful for them and they constantly had my best interests at heart.' With the 2025 series of Strictly looming, Amy believes she's fitter than ever and is grateful that her body has adjusted to the menopause. ‌ She said: 'I still get the occasional hot flush. This time last year it was really tough but now I really feel my body's adjusted to it.' Amy and Ben have just celebrated their third wedding anniversary and despite the traumatic start to their marriage, their love is deeper than ever before. Amy said: 'We're even closer than ever now, especially this past year getting our life back together, enjoying holidays and doing our house renovation. My husband said to me earlier this year, 'I love my life and I'm really happy.' It makes you realise how precious life and your loved ones are after a cancer diagnosis. We just enjoy every little bit of time we get together.' Part of Amy's new normal is saying 'no' more often and prioritising her recovery. She said: 'I would always work myself into the ground. I wouldn't take a day off. I'd run Dance Academy, I'd be saying yes to absolutely everything and I've learned that now, actually, I need time off to recover. I need a day off or I need to go and see my family. That's what I learnt most about cancer - life is precious.' ‌ Another unexpected side effect of cancer is that Amy has lost close friends who never reached out to her after her diagnosis, leaving her hurt and confused. Amy said: 'There were people sat at my wedding six months before and I still haven't heard from them today. Everyone deals with it differently, but it's still very tough. So much has changed for me.' However, cancer has brought new people into her life and her true friendships and relationships have strengthened. Amy said: 'I learned who my true friends and family were and I only surround myself with them, that's the new normal for me.' ‌ Amy has shared her early breast cancer journey from the beginning, hoping her story helps others who are also affected by the disease. She said: 'If a lady's diagnosed with cancer she can say it, 'Well, Amy got back on the dance floor or she can say to her little girl, 'Look, Mum's got what Amy's got and she's back on Strictly, she's got a smile on her face.'' While her recovery has been gruelling, Amy believes that she's now fitter than she's ever been. She said: 'Everyone is different but actually I feel stronger and fitter than I did now before my cancer treatment. I've done that hard work in the gym and I've really loved seeing the differences made and doing one up on cancer.' So it's with an unflinching smile that Amy heads into this year's Strictly. While she dreams of being victorious and lifting the glitterball trophy with her celebrity partner, Amy admits just completing the competition would mean the world to her. She said: 'Watching your celebrity fall in love with dancing, that for me is a win. It would just be wonderful to be able to complete the whole Strictly series. I just can't wait to just soak myself in all the Strictly magic.'
