Katy Perry has 'been calling herself single for MONTHS' as pals reveal 'why she and Orlando Bloom refuse to publicly acknowledge split'

Daily Mail4 days ago

Katy Perry has allegedly been telling friends she's been single for months amid split rumours with Orlando Bloom.
For weeks fans have been speculating all is not well between the pair after Katy, 40, was seen without her engagement ring.
Yet the pop star - who is currently on a world tour - and Orlando, 48, have refused to comment on the speculation, with sources claiming they were hoping to work through their rough patch for the sake of their daughter Daisy Dove, four.
A source close to the couple told The Sun: 'Katy confided in friends at the start of the year that their relationship was as good as done.
'They decided to hold off on announcing anything in case things improved between them, because they are desperate to stay together for the sake of their daughter.'
Yet the insider claimed that their busy work schedules have made it impossible to work things out and that Katy wanted to send a 'clear message' by removing her engagement ring.
The source concluded: 'It's been a hard year so far. They wanted to wait until the tour is over before they made their split official, although Katy has grown tired of the situation.'
Katy and Orlando were last pictured together at the Vanity Fair Oscars party in March, where they posed for red carpet snaps.
The pair did not seem particularly comfortable in each other's company, however, body language expert Judi James noted.
She told The Mirror: 'When she [Katy] walks across to pose with Orlando there appears to be a small look of reluctance rather than keenness but this could be down to Orlando's apparent desire to not be seen as a show-pony partner.
Judi added that Katy appeared 'dejected' at times, with 'no reciprocation' from Orlando, saying: 'Outside Katy's body language gives the impression of being dejected.
'The couple walk apart in the photos and she looks down while he is on his phone.'
It was claimed on Wednesday that the pair had called it quits following weeks of escalating tension after nearly a decade of their on–off relationship, six years of being engaged and one child together.
The news came shortly after Katy went to space, drawing significant backlash amid viral videos trolling her world tour and her poor-performing album 143.
While Orlando was in the crowd when the rocket took off, he kept a low-profile and was not seen by Katy's side when she returned.
It was claimed Orlando was 'embarrassed' by the trip after Katy became the internet's punching bag for her eccentric actions, hogging the camera while holding up a daisy - a nod to her daughter - in zero gravity, before bizarrely dropping to her knees and kissing the ground on touchdown.
'He told her the whole thing looked ridiculous,' a source in Katy's camp told the Daily Mail. 'He said it was cringeworthy. Embarrassing. This was in the middle of a fight, and it hurt her feelings.'
'Of course she was hurt,' the source continued. 'Imagine going to space — motherf****** space — and your partner isn't impressed. She hoped he'd be more supportive.'
'Katy and Orlando have split but are amicable,' a source told Us Weekly, adding that the break-up was so far 'not contentious.'
'Katy is of course upset but is relieved to not have to go through another divorce, as that was the worst time in her life,' they said.
The source described the alleged split as 'a long time coming' and claimed their relations 'have been tense for months.'
For now, Katy is reportedly staying 'distracted' with her tour and caring for her and Orlando's four-year-old daughter Daisy, who was seen joining her while the 48-year-old English actor was elsewhere.
However, the Lord Of The Rings star later returned to Australia — where Katy has spent the month of June on tour — and reunited with his fiancée and daughter over the past week.
Despite once again being on the same continent as her fiancé, Katy has been spotted multiple times without her wedding ring in Australia.
On Monday, DailyMail.com reported that Katy and Orlando were renting out their $30 million mansion in Montecito, California, to Chris Pratt and his wife Katherine Schwarzenegger, which only intensified rumors of a breakup.
'Her and Orlando have always lived in their other Montecito home as their primary residence,' Us Weekly's source said.
They said the allegedly split couple had intended to establish the rented mansion as 'their family home' before the situation changed.
They added that Katy and Orlando have 'been living apart since Katy has been on tour.'
Katy had been spotted multiple times with her daughter Daisy while touring in Australia this month, and Orlando has made several solo public appearances, including stops at the Tribeca festival and an appearance to celebrate the launch of a cruise ship with Drew Barrymore.
This news follows reports that Orlando will attend Jeff Bezos ' wedding to Lauren Sanchez sans his fiancée on his arm. He's said to intend to make his debut as a 'single man' at his billionaire buddy's nuptials, according to TMZ.
Meanwhile, Katy will miss the wedding due to her ongoing Lifetimes tour in Australia.

GB News announces expansion into the US

The news channel, launched in 2021, will open a new bureau in Washington DC as it launches its services across the Atlantic. The two-hour programme will begin in September from a studio 'close to the White House' and will 'bring British audiences closer than ever to the political news which unfolds each day in America'. The programme will feature 'headline-making exclusives, thought-provoking interviews with major figures, and in-depth analysis of the Trump presidency as well as stories from across the US', according to GB News. The move includes an extension of GB News' distribution across the US, with content to be made available free to American audiences. Turner said: 'With the gutsiest guests and the most iconic backdrops, I intend to keep viewers up late. Fronting the next stage of GB News's evolution is both a huge honour and an immense responsibility, and I cannot wait to represent the people's channel on a global stage. 'We will be disrupting the late-night TV space as the next day's papers land in the UK and America's prime-time analysis gears up. This affords us the chance to deliver a unique UK-USA hybrid of political, cultural and social issues from the start-line of global politics. 'We will fulfil the need for a British voice with an international perspective to help our viewers get a sense of who's really on their side. 'Tapping into Washington's heartbeat and delivering real-time perspective with editorial edge, the show will be alive, and a conversation that's punchy, intelligent and unmissable. What happens in DC reverberates in GB and we will capture every moment. 'Our highly engaged British audience understands how events in the US are directly impacting government policy and living standards here. 'We have a job to do: bridging the gap between British and American politics in the fearless style that typifies GB News. 'We will include the very best guests that Washington has to offer, alongside quintessentially British voices in an unparalleled assessment of events on both sides of the Atlantic. 'This isn't just a media experiment, this is a market intervention. And I look forward to leading it from the front.' Turner, 51, who began presenting her own show on GB News in 2022, previously hosted a talk show on LBC and has appeared on ITV's This Morning and Good Morning Britain. Michael Booker, GB News editorial director, said: 'This is a huge moment for GB News as we grow our presence and deliver more of the fearless journalism that defines us. 'The world's biggest political story is playing out in Washington, and its impact is being felt daily in towns and cities across Britain. 'More than ever before, what happens in the USA is having huge consequences, both socially and economically, for the people of Britain. 'We've seen time and again this year that a decision made on one day in Washington DC is felt the next day in Washington, Tyne and Wear. 'It's essential the people's channel is right there, reporting live, asking the tough questions, and telling it like it is. 'While others scale back on live free coverage, GB News is investing in our content. 'Our new Washington investment, our expanded programming and our brilliant on-the-ground team will ensure we're not just reporting on the story but that we're right at the heart of it.'

UFC star Sean Strickland storms cage to attack teammate's opponent

Sean Strickland stormed the cage at an MMA event on Sunday, striking a fighter who beat the UFC star's teammate. At a Tuff-N-Uff fight card in Las Vegas, Strickland's teammate Miles Hunsinger suffered a second-round submission loss to Luis Hernandez, who won via standing guillotine choke. Hernandez immediately celebrated by looking through the cage fence at Strickland and Chris Curtis – another UFC fighter and teammate of Strickland – and sticking out his tongue while gesturing to his crotch. That led Strickland and Curtis to rush into the cage to confront Hernandez, with Strickland punching the 28-year-old twice. Curtis in fact separated the pair, seemingly trying to prevent Strickland from striking Hernandez again. Yet when Hernandez appeared to goad Curtis at point-blank range, the latter seemed to offer some stern words before being dragged away by the referee. All the while, the cage filled up with other officials and people trying to defuse the situation. Later, the unbeaten Hernandez told journalist Ariel Helwani: 'We were in the fight, and they were talking in the fight. And listen, there's only so much we can take. 'This is entertainment, right, [but] he said some things, and then I said some things back, and I guess he didn't like what I said back. 'He was talking s***, saying I was tired, he was making fun of me, I think he called me fat. I don't take that lightly. 'Me? I said, 'F*** you, Sean Strickland.' Yeah, he punched me, he did [connect], but I'm still standing – still smiling.' Strickland is one of the most divisive fighters in the UFC. The American, 34, pulled off an all-time MMA upset in 2023, when he outpointed Israel Adesanya to win the UFC middleweight title, though he lost it to Dricus Du Plessis in his first defence. But he is equally known for his views on various political and social matters, having once claimed he wanted to kill an opponent in the cage. Strickland has also criticised women's MMA, and insulted Australia before fighting there in February. Strickland, who previously fought in Australia when he won the middleweight title, said: 'It's a really beautiful country. I would consider Australians as English white trash. Some Irish, too; you know they sent the lot here. As an American white trash, I feel like I have a lot in common with you f***ers.' Referencing Australia's introduction of gun laws, after the Port Arthur massacre in 1996, Strickland added: 'You had one mass shooting and gave up all your guns, that was kind of pathetic. 'It's the lack of freedom, dude. How insane is it that we're in a modern country and hate speech is a thing? [...] We're in a modern country with running water, and you guys know: it's real bad […] real f***ing bad, dude.' Strickland's views were even featured on the front page of the Australian Daily Telegraph 'ssports section. The paper branded him the 'UFC's biggest imbecile' and called for 'someone [to] please knock this guy out'. In a strange move, the UFC shared the front page on its social-media accounts.
