Jo Wood details heartbreaking journey following split from Ronnie Wood

Daily Mirror2 days ago
Jo Wood -who was married to Rolling Stone guitarist Ronnie Wood - has revealed she was forced to pick up the pieces and prove she could cope on her own following her split from the star
After 24 years of marriage to one of the world's most renowned guitarists, Jo Wood could be forgiven for wanting to hide away from the world as she struggled to navigate life on her own, following her split with Ronnie Wood.

And while it took time for her to come to terms with the new chapter of her life, Jo, 70, has now revealed that she was determined to prove she could lead a healthy and successful life without the Rolling Stone star.

In a recent interview, she explained that she needed to show she was not a "victim", following her public split. Jo and Ronnie tied the knot in 1985 and called time on their nuptials in 2009.

In an interview with The Times, she said: "After Ronnie I found it's important to say to myself, 'I'm not a victim, I can still enjoy a good life.' When I was really broken-hearted I totally let myself go. I didn't shave my legs, I didn't shave anything. I was just miserable."
Ronnie has now re-married to Sally Humphries and the coupled wed in 2012. The pair have twin daughters together. Jo recently bumped into her ex-husband at a hotel in Barbados with Sally and their children.
But it looks as though things between all parties is as amicable as can be with Jo even describing the encounter as similar to putting on "a comfy pair of old slippers."

Jo has achieved great success since her split with Ronnie and has gone on to become an author, a podcast host as well as launching her own organic body care products, named Jo Wood Organics.
But when writing her novel, she explained that the editor at the time wanted more emotion when mentioning Ronnie but she refused as the story was "not about Ronnie."

Instead, Jo explained that she has worked hard at forgiving the rock star as it "sets you free."
Ronnie and Jo share two children together Leah and Tyrone. The couple also had two step children, both from previous relationships. Jo is a mum to Jamie from her first marriage to designer Peter Greene while Ronnie had a son called Jesse from his first marriage.
Despite their public split, Jo said that she could happily call Ronnie if she had to but claims that she could do the same with Keith Richards, as she "didn't do anything wrong."

She told the Daily Mail: "When you have children and grandchildren, I think it's important… I like to know that I can say, 'The kids have been, you know, even though they're grown up. Have a word with them!'"
The businesswoman has parted ways with her party lifestyle and now enjoys a self-sufficient experience at her countryside home. She is even set to launch a supplement called Longevity for added health benefits.

But Jo's party lifestyle is never forgotten as even her grandchildren have dubbed her as "Gangster Gran." Jo lives by the rule of being honest which explains why she decided to admit to drug taking in her youth to her grandchildren.
In an interview on Good Housekeeping UK's podcast, My Life In A Biscuit Tin, she explained: "I know I shouldn't say this, but I was in the car with them and they were giggling, two of them [grandchildren, Maggie and Kobe]."
She added: "They went, 'Gran, have you done any drugs?' I said, 'Of course I have, but I don't recommend it'. I said, 'Because it didn't get me anywhere except lots of sleepless nights.'
"You can't be dishonest, because they'll find out. So, I tried to warn them it was a waste of time, but I was in a very special situation. So then they said, "We're going to call you Gangster Gran from now on.'"

EastEnders legend Sam Womack lands new role worlds away from Ronnie Mitchell

EastEnders legend Samantha Womack is taking on a new role, and it is worlds away from Ronnie Mitchell. Ronnie was a staple on our screens for almost ten years and was part of some major storylines, including the Who Killed Archie Mitchell? whodunnit. There was outrage from fans in 2017 when Ronnie was killed off alongside sister Roxy Mitchell (Rita Simons) on her wedding day, with both women tragically drowning in a swimming pool. Since leaving the show, Sam has appeared on TV series like Silent Witness and Buffering. She has also taken to the stage in the UK tour of The Girl on the Train, where she met partner Oliver Farnworth, before starring in 42nd Street the Musical. Now, the actress is taking on a new venture, in stage play Dear England, which is set to tour the UK later this year. The play is a fictional take on Gareth Southgate's time as manager of the England men's football team. Sam will take on the role of psychologist Pippa Grange, while Doctors star David Sturzaker will play Gareth Southgate. 'I am so excited to be returning to the stage to perform in Dear England,' Sam said in a video posted to Instagram. More Trending 'It's a wonderful piece of theatre – entertaining and thought-provoking as well as incredibly staged. I am also fascinated by Pippa Grange and her impact on [the] England men's team.' She continued: 'She fundamentally changed the culture and, in turn, the course of sporting history by teaching the squad to embrace their fears and she's an extremely inspiring role to take on. 'I can't wait to delve in and get back to touring around the country with this fantastic show.' Review: The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes in Chester

With another well-supported crowd, the Grosvenor Park theatre is a fantastic place to enjoy a night of theatre and The Adventure of Sherlock Holmes is the latest to enjoy. Using Storyhouse's in-house team of actors and beyond, the show is a new telling of the famous Arthur Conan Doyle character with Holmes's co-solver of cases now Joanne Watson, know as Jo, who comes from Chester. Jo – played by Alyce Liburd – comes home from that there London after an invite to CrimeCon by a former school friend to talk about the subject of her many books, Holmes (Ethan Reid). Alyce Liburd as Jo Watson in The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes in Chester. (Image: Mark McNulty.) The whole story is a flashback as Jo is first brought to our attention in the form of a true crime podcast, tapping into the cultural zeitgeist with a touch of Only Murders in the Building thrown in too. While the main man is surprisingly absent, he is soon thrown into the fray by a burglary which leads to a murder and the Duke and Duchess of Westminster. With trips to Liverpool and London covered, and a good ol' punch up in an Irish bar, plus a masked ball and much more, the race is on to unmask who is really pulling the strings. Reid excels as the titular detective, though he forgoes any previous incumbents of the role as his influence, dressing like a 10th doctor David Tennant and solves crimes like Kris Marshall's Humphrey Goodman. Howard Chadwick and Morgan Reid in The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes in Chester. (Image: Newsquest.) Liburd is less narrator as previous Watsons, more willing participant and she brings that pluckiness and willingness for a fight to the fore, plus a pain alluded to off stage. Reid and Liburd do, however, generate chemistry and a belief that they have been solving crimes for some time, shown mostly through the running Deerstalker hat joke. The play does suffer from a slow start as multiple characters are introduced and my one main criticism is that some of the introductions could be dialled down – they border on stereotypes and I feared for the standard. However, those fears soon faded as the ensemble found its feet thanks to the dynamic of two characters – Holmes and DCI Ray (Howard Chadwick) with the former showing the perfect of level of disdain the Great Detective has for ordinary coppers. The latter steals the show however with his perfect level of 'what is he on about' needed from the boys in blue. Chadwick provides all of the comic relief and doesn't dip once in his task – a fine showing. The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes in Chester. (Image: Newsquest.) The supporting cast, including Victoria Brazier as a reimagined Mrs Hudson, all work hard to support the central trio. Hannah Baker plays 'hoity toity' very well as the Duchess of Westminster while Morgan Lewis, making his professional debut, also shines. As with 2024's Gangs of New York and The Importance of Being Earnest, the cast are all outstanding musicians with Baker's piano skills the stand-out showing. The second half steps up the peril and the plot to a hugely-satisfactory ending. Would I recommend this show to everyone? Elementary, dear readers. The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes runs until August 31 – for more, had to

Kristen Stewart doesn't look like THIS anymore after dramatic change to her look

Kristen Stewart has made a striking change to her appearance. The 35-year-old Twilight sensation was spotted over the weekend after ditching the blond locks she has rocked for months in favor of a more eye-catching hue. The actress unveiled a pinkish-orange dye job while strolling LA's Griffith Park with wife Dylan Meyer on Sunday. Kristen pulled her tousled tresses into a messy bun, leaving out face-framing bangs. Although she has primarily favored a blond-dyed appearance in recent years, the former teen idol was once best known as a brunette after rising to prominence in the Twilight films. Both she and Dylan — who were spotted on a lunch date earlier this month — sported green shorts and loose-fitting graphic T-shirts. Kristen added white tube socks and black sneakers and dark sunglasses. For the weekend outing, Dylan wore a baseball cap over her platinum blonde hair, and she also wore sunglasses. The couple said 'I do' in late April, holding their wedding ceremony in the Los Angeles neighborhood Los Feliz. In March 2024, a source told People that Stewart 'has had different ideas of how to do her wedding.' 'She may prefer less fanfare than she originally wanted. But it changes,' the insider added. Ultimately, the Oscar nominee 'likes family life and is looking forward to more of that,' the person noted. At the time, the source added, Stewart had 'been happy in her committed relationship and engaged for quite some time.' And the silver screen siren told Rolling Stone in February 2024, more than a year before the nuptials, 'We don't have it in us to have a big wedding. 'We're probably just going to do it soon. We just are busy trying to make movies because they're our babies.' She also said that she wants to start a family with her longtime partner 'sometime soon.' 'I don't know what my family's going to look like, but there's no f**king way that I don't start acquiring kids,' she said. The Loves Lies Bleeding actress admitted that, although she's not 'scared of being pregnant' or of 'having a kid,' she was 'so f***ing scared of childbirth.' The lovebirds sparked engagement rumors in summer 2021, when they were both seen wearing rings on their left hands. It wasn't until that November that Kristen confirmed to Howard Stern that she and Dylan had gotten engaged.
