YouTuber arrested over obscene content
Roorkee police have arrested a YouTuber for allegedly uploading obscene content following complaints. Authorities have initiated steps to block his channel. SP (rural) Shekhar Chand Suyal said, 'Amjad, a resident of Sherkothi, had created a YouTube channel. He was uploading obscene material for popularity.' The action was taken after Shahbaz Muzammil filed a complaint. Amjad was arrested after an FIR. Suyal added, 'A report has been sent to YouTube to remove the content and block the channel.' The accused mostly uploads posts under the name 'Amjad 9211' and had shared a video supporting Mahak and Pari from Sambhal.
HC orders closure of 48 stone crushers
The Uttarakhand High Court has ordered the closure of 48 stone crushers in Haridwar, directing authorities to disconnect their electricity and water supplies. A bench comprisisng Justices Ravindra Maithani and Pankaj Purohit mandated a report on the action taken within a week. The order stemmed from a Public Interest Litigation filed by Haridwar's Matri Sadan, citing 'non-compliance with previous court directives.' Sadan's 2022 PIL alleged rampant illegal mining along the Ganga from Raiwala to Bhogpur, activities already banned by the Central Pollution Control Board and National Mission for Clean Ganga.

Supervisor held for duping Coimbatore-based contractor of Rs 78 lakh
COIMBATORE: The district crime branch police on Monday arrested a 51-year-old man for duping a Coimbatore-based contractor of Rs 78 lakh. The arrested man has been identified as N Rajan, 51, of Sir Shanmugam Road near R S Puram in the city. In 2021, Rajan joined Bharathi Constructions as a supervisor. The firm, owned by R Kalaivani of Malumichampatti, took contracts for road work in Thondamuthur, Perur, Alanthurai, Thenkarai municipalities in Coimbatore district and Sholur municipality in the Nilgiris district. Rajan was supervising the work undertaken by the firm. He was maintaining the firm's bank accounts. In 2022, the firm took a contract for laying roads in Sholur municipality in the Nilgiris district. Rajan was maintaining the accounts of the work. When the work was delayed, Kalaivani questioned Rajan. As Rajan did not answer properly, Kalaivani went to the bank and verified the firm's bank account handled by Rajan. He assured her to return the money he had transferred to his accounts and those of his wife and friends. But he returned only Rs 33 lakh to Kalaivani. When Kalaivani's efforts to retrieve the remaining Rs 78 lakh went in vain, she lodged a formal complaint with the district crime branch police on Saturday (Aug 2). The police registered a case against Rajan under Section 408 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and arrested him on Monday. He was remanded in judicial custody.
