The Minecraft summer drop now officially has a name, 'Chase the Skies,' with the second game drop set to launch. The developers have scheduled Chase the Skies to release in June 2025 as version 1.21.6.
The update will introduce many new wide-ranging features to the game, which were purely designed to enhance the gameplay. Mojang Studios made sure that all the new quality-of-life updates are aimed to enhance the player experience for both Java and Bedrock Editions.
Chase the Skies update: new features and gameplay enhancements
WHAT'S IN MINECRAFT'S "CHASE THE SKIES" UPDATE?
Here are the following features that will be coming up with the new Chase the Skies update in June:
1.
Happy Ghast
Central to the "Chase the Skies" update is the introduction of the Happy Ghast, a rideable flying mob. Here is how players can obtain it in the game:
Acquire a Dried Ghast Block: Found near fossil structures in the Nether or obtained by bartering with Piglins. Alternatively, craft one using eight Ghast Tears and a Soul Sand block.
Rehydrate the Dried Ghast: Place the block in water to transform it into a Ghastling.
Evolve into Happy Ghast: Feed the Ghastling snowballs until it becomes a Happy Ghast, ready for flight.
2. Player Locator Bar
This is a new interface feature added to the game where the player locator bar pops in and assists in multiplayer to navigate.
This bar will be located near the XP bar. It will display colored dots and directional arrows indicating the position of the player, making it easier to play cooperatively.
3.
Vibrant Visuals
: Enhanced Graphics
It is a new graphical feature that will be introduced in this update. The "Vibrant Visuals," a significant graphical overhaul that includes
Directional lighting
Volumetric fog
Dynamic shadows and reflections
This will help to make the game more immersive through providing a visual experience. The update will initially be available on Bedrock Edition and then later in the future, updates to Java.
Other additional features
New Music: Five ambient tracks composed by Amos Roddy will be added to specific Overworld biomes, along with a new lootable music disc obtainable from Ghasts.
Improved Leash Mechanics: Players can now leash boats and form mob caravans using thicker leashes, enhancing transportation methods within the game.
Quality-of-Life Improvements: The update also brings easier lodestone crafting, new farm animal variants, enhanced Overworld ambiance, the ability for farm animals to spawn in the Badlands biome, and refined Enderman behavior.
The new game drop "Chase the Skies" purely aims to improve the game through new game mechanics, quality-of-life changes, and visual enhancements. Mojang has scheduled the update to release in June 2025.
