Lincoln overnight road closures announced
Drivers in Lincoln are being told to expect disruption with further overnight road closures in August, as work continues to improve access to new homes. Since April, work has been taking place to improve the eastern access to Tritton Road, for new housing development Charterholme. City of Lincoln Council said contractors would be installing new traffic lights at the junction of Tritton Road with Dixon Street. The junction will be closed between 20:00 BST and 06:00 from 4 to 15 August, it said. Temporary traffic lights and a diversion will be in place during the work, the council said. Maria Clayton, of City of Lincoln Council, said: "This is a key stage in delivering improved access to the Charterholme site and upgrading vital infrastructure along Tritton Road. "We understand road closures can be inconvenient, which is why our contractor is carrying out this work overnight to minimise disruption on the road network. We appreciate the public's patience and cooperation as we work to complete these essential improvements." As part of the project, a new road bridge is being built over the railway line. Dorrington return 'a big boost' for Aberdeen, says Devlin
Alfie Dorrington's return is "a big boost" for Aberdeen, says fellow defender Nicky Devlin. The Tottenham centre-half has returned to Pittodrie for the 2025-26 campaign following a successful loan spell last term, which culminated in a historic Scottish Cup triumph. "It's good to see him back again," Devlin told Aberdeen's club media. "I thought he was brilliant last season for us, especially for someone coming into his first real exposure to first-team football. And he'll be a big boost for us. "There are a few people who have left, big characters who have left the dressing room this year. "He's good on and off the park, he's a big character, he gets on well with everyone. And he brings a lot of quality to the team, which we'll need throughout the season." Jimmy Thelin's men continued their pre-season preparations with a friendly defeat to English Premier League side Fulham on Saturday. New signing Kusini Yengi gave Aberdeen the lead, but they fell to a 4-1 defeat against the London club, who finished 11th England's top tier last season. "It was difficult, everyone knows they're a top side," said Devlin, who replaced Graeme Shinnie at left-back at half time. "They give a lot of the top teams in England problems as well. There were good parts of it - first half and second half - but obviously lots of stuff we need to work on going into the start of our season." On playing in an unfamiliar left-back position, Devlin continued: "On paper it's the same position, it's just a different side. "I think the manager knows I'm happy to play wherever. If he thinks it's the best for the team, then he knows I'll play anywhere for him."

Jose Mourinho Pushes To Bring Inter Milan Midfielder To Fenerbahce
Former Inter Milan coach Jose Mourinho is determined to bring Nerazzurri midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu to Fenerbahce, and rumours of a transfer have caused a storm in Turkiye. As reported by Turkish news outlet Hurriyet, and via Mourinho has identified an opportunity to secure Calhanoglu amidst the midfielder's unsettled mood at Inter and is keen to bring him in to secure the Turkish Superlig title this season. It is reported that Inter would be willing to accept a fee of €25-30 million for the former Bayer Leverkusen and AC Milan midfielder, with personal terms not set to be an issue, although Fenerbahce officials have played down the rumours of an impending switch. Talk of negotiations with Fenerbahce have caused a stir in Calhanoglu's homeland given his public and notable support for their bitter rivals Galatasaray. Indeed, a social media frenzy was sparked by a relative of Calhanoglu's posting a photo of the player in a Fenerbahce shirt and the caption 'loading', whilst the club's former striker also caused a stir by tweeting 'Welcome to Fenerbahce Hakan'. Meanwhile, it has been suggested that Calhanoglu was convinced to join Fener despite his Galatasaray links by former Inter midfielder Emre Belozoglu.
