New Delhi [India], July 3 (ANI): Congress MP Manickam Tagore on Thursday strongly criticised the central government, accusing it of bypassing parliamentary procedure and undermining democratic norms , shortly after the Parliament ary Affairs Minister installed a nameplate on the new Parliament building.In a post on X, Tagore aimed at PM Modi and said, "Parliament is not a museum, Mr. Modi. It's where democracy speaks. Let it.""Good that the Parliamentary Affairs Minister finally put a board saying 'Parliament' on the new building. At least now we can be sure which building the government has been avoiding all this while," he further wrote in a post.He referred to a letter signed by 240 MPs, a majority in the Lok Sabha, demanding a special session to discuss the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor , and criticised the government for not responding."When 240 MPs, a majority in the Lok Sabha, wrote to the PM demanding a session to discuss Pahalgam and Operation Sindoor, the government responded with... silence. First time in history such a large democratic request was ignored. What's next, ignoring elections?" Tagore asked."Strong words. And our PM? No statement on foreign leaders claiming to pressure India."Although the government has announced the Monsoon Session of Parliament, the Congress leader pointed out the absence of any response from Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding US President Donald Trump 's claim that he made 14 calls to Modi and allegedly "threatened" him into a ceasefire.The upcoming Monsoon session will be the first Parliament session following Operation Sindoor, which was launched by India on May 7 in response to a terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam, which claimed 26 lives.The Budget session of Parliament began on January 31 this year. The Budget Session saw the passage of significant legislation, including the Waqf Amendment Bill.There will be no Parliament sittings on August 13 and 14 due to Independence Day celebrations.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has pursued several cases against him, including charges related to money laundering, bid manipulation, and violations under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA). India has repeatedly sought his extradition from the UK, but he remains a British resident. Mr Modi, now 60, has long maintained that the cases against him are politically motivated. Mr Mallya, 68, the former chairman of United Breweries and promoter of the now-defunct Kingfisher Airlines, left India in 2016 amid mounting debts and allegations of fraud. The Indian government declared him a "fugitive economic offender" under the Fugitive Economic Offenders Act. Last week, the UK's High Court rejected an appeal filed by Mr Mallya against a 2021 bankruptcy order. In a social media post last year, Mr Mallya said that authorities in India had seized and restored assets worth Rs 14,131 crore, an amount he claims exceeds the debts attributed to Kingfisher Airlines. "I am still an economic offender. Unless the ED and banks can legally justify how they have taken more than two times the debt, I am entitled to relief which I will pursue," he wrote on X. He also questioned the CBI's continuing fraud case against him over a Rs 900 crore IDBI Bank loan. In response, Mr Modi had replied, "This too shall pass."

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a rain alert for the state until July 7, as monsoon showers continue to lash several regions. Officials from the Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority and the Revenue Department said the state has recorded losses exceeding ₹400 crore due to relentless rainfall. Rescue, relief, and search operations are in full swing, particularly in Mandi district, which remains the worst affected. Several roads in the region are blocked, and essential services have been disrupted. Prime Minister Narendra Modi began his first official visit to Trinidad and Tobago on Thursday (local time), where he was accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour at Piarco International Airport. Sebi's investigation found that Jane Street was responsible for a substantial share of net buying in the 12 Bank Nifty component stocks and their futures. As Kharge reaches Hyderabad, posters accusing Congress of violating Constitution put up in Hyderabad
On Friday (July 4, 2025) when All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Mallikarjun Kharge arrived in Hyderabad, posters and flexi banners were put up at several junctions and bus stops targeting the Congress government accusing it of governing with an iron hand violating the Constitution. The banners without any names of the publishers claimed that the Congress government unleashed violence and atrocities against the people. It was further charged that people were arrested and implicated in false cases for demanding the implementation of [2023 Assembly] poll promises.. Mocking the Congress party's slogan of 'Save the Constitution,' the posters claimed that the government was 'Destroying the Constitution' and harassed people in Telangana. The slogans filled with sarcasm included 'Jai Bapu, violence is our weapon,' 'Jai Bhim, SCs/STs are our goal,' and 'Jai Samvidhan, Constitution is of no importance to us.' Pictures of police arresting people were also included in the posters. The posters appeared overnight, and there was no mention of any political party or the organisations that prepared the posters. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) was asked to remove the posters put up at public places without any permission. Congress party, however, accused the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) of resorting to cheap politics and said such posters have become a norm whenever a national level Congress leader tours Hyderabad. The BRS's desperation to paint the Congress government in a bad light has reached the lowest levels, but there are no takers for its claims as people have not forgotten how it suppressed democratic protests, Congress Media Committee Chairman Sama Ram Mohan Reddy said. The BRS - which closed even the Dharna Chowk - talking about suppression is laughable, he said.
